  • I forgot to say mines a WS6 6 speed also. But I have the flowmaster 80's series. It's sounds pretty good. Not too loud at idle but really screams when u punch it.

  • I have a 98 Firebird, v6, and am trying to decide on aftermarket exhaust. (Flowmaster/Magnaflow/Loudmout­h) I have really gotten into the prices, but that doesn't concern me at this time.

    I'm looking for something that sounds mean, and not incredibly loud at low rpms.

  • No, they had Bright Purple Metallic in 1997. This was the only year they had BPM with a LS1 motor.

  • It growls I love trans ams I have a 2001 trans am I bought new and now it needs a new motor it just died 2 mos ago. I am so sad but I am about to have the motor rebuilt

  • You really don't know much about F-Bodies or GM in general, do you? It's not going to be any harder than it is now.

    LS1 motor (really easy to find)... T56 tranny (super easy to find)... suspension that was in both the Camaro and Firebird relatively unchanged for almost 20 years. Pontiac disappearing isn't going to change the availability of spare parts at all.... CHEVROLET still exists... and anything Pontiac specific hasn't been made for almost 7 years.

  • The Loudmouth sounds great on the LS1. I love the agressive and distinct slightly raspy tone. Take care of that rare bird!

  • Nice car dude, I'm seriously considering dumping the magnaflow muffler in my catback system for an SLP muffler, I have a 2000 SS Camaro, and I just think the SLP sounds so much better.

  • Just under 1900 rpm. I think these cars should come with 4.10 gears stock, they were perfect.

  • damn thats good bet you get good mpg i wish mine was a m6 but i had no choice and had to get the a4 with 2.73s. and yea they should come with 4.10s deferentially. i think they come with 3.42s right? by the way love your car sounds nice and love the color

  • Depends on if you want to drag race it or not... If you're going to drag race, automatics are cheaper to maintain, and easier to make fast, not to mention more consistent... otherwise, I'd say get a M6. bear in mind that a M6 is much harder on the weak rear end of an F-body, and tend to go through clutches if you hammer them a lot.

  • By hammering on it do you mean drop-clutch burnouts, or specifically just pounding on the gas, or both lol. Thanks

  • Dumping the clutch, and hard shifts. It puts a lot of shock on the drivetrain that an automatic car doesn't. The rear ends in these cars are kinda weak, so they break easily.

  • You don't HAVE to, but if you're going to be taking it over 3000 rpm, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it. It does not make sense to blow up an engine over what amounts to about a $3 to $4 a tank difference.... if another $4 a tank is going to break you, you can't afford the car anyway.

  • the 4 speed auto has so many TSB's on then they cant handle the power of the ls1 and they take a shit... i would go with the t-56 6-speed, handles a lot more power, a lot more fun to drive, better mpg...

  • No idea on the Loudmouth 2... and this car had 4.10 gears in it when I bought it, so I don't know what a difference it made.

  • good vid...and FULL boltons wil put an LS1 in the 340-360 range...so u think an air kit gives 20h.p?...after headers and TD's im @ 335rwhp...math math math...tsk tsk tsk

  • Changing the air filter itself isn't going to give you a 20 horsepower increase. Changing the air filter and the lid (on ram air cars) can offer you a gain of around 20, or installing an entire cold air system on non ram air cars can offer close to 20hp as well.

  • Been there, done that, didn't get 20 hp. There's nothing about the lid on a ram air car that is different from a non-ram air car.. it's the same damn part! Again, quit believing everything you read, and quit commenting on things you know nothing about!

  • Yeah Domman56 can't always believe alot of what you read about K&N they are better but not always as good as they say. And actually on LS1 motors i have heard from Performance shops that K&N isn't the best choice so its to each his own and what they choose. But your not going to gain 18 or 20 rwhp from an air filter change

  • get a K&N intake on it at least 20 more HP and about 5 MPG for these cars and they're pretty cheap like 150 i think

  • (A) How do you know there isn't one on it already, and (B) Do you REALLY believe you're gonna get TWENTY horsepower out of that? LOL!! You'd be lucky to get 5 hp. Maybe if I put some K&N stickers on it that will give me the other 15 hp.

  • Um dude.. I've had three of these cars and they all had a K&N filter in them, and they didn't gain 18 horsepower from it. Don't believe everything you read.

    to meet the massive air gaines

    i dunnoed it about 6 days ago

    rated at 415wrhp so u should look

    into modififying it more belive me

    that cars a blank canvas just waitint

    to be turned into a master piece ^_^

  • Make sure u never get rid of this car or at least dont let it out of the family, having a rare car like this will bring great value
