  • This is originally a Joy Division song. Ian Curtis is unforgettable...

  • Thom 's voice sounds so different compared to what I am used to.

  • OMG!!!!Radiohead+New Order!!!The best!

  • Not usually a Radio Head fan but this is a great cover of a great song!!!

  • i've watched this like a gazillion times and still watching. :) i've raped the replay button like a god knows how many times. lol! cheers y'all!!

  • Gonnae do a version of 'Temptation' but.

    That wid be fun

  • Its so obviois the band are fans of jd/no and the performance and love pours into this song...just as good as any live version i have heard from new order

  • zOMG!!1 Dr. House is playing the bass!

  • I really like Radiohead, but compared to the original version (by means the New Order Substance version) this is a joke

  • @Nakkinak A joke how?

  • you see my sister wants me to play this at her funeral i don't know why she saying that because she is in her 20's but yah where can i get the radiohead version of this song just so i can be prepaired lol

  • thegoodteacher(dot)com

  • The best band of the world covers the best band of the world.

But Thom could done it better...

  • @bielbenken Seems like Thom was drunk/high performing this lol

  • the only band worthy of doing a joy division tribute, yet somehow it falls short.

the vocals just aren't there. r.i.p. ian

  • If anyone needs it to be explained, yes, this was originally a Joy Division song with the lyrics written by Ian Curtis. There are a few reasons why it was released on New Order's first album: 1) There are only 2 versions with Ian on vocals. A live version and a demo. But both are of poor quality. He died before they could record a proper studio version. Which is 2) Ian died before they got around to it. 3) Once they became New Order, they probably just recorded it as a tribute. There,

  • Sounds good. Pretty faithful cover! I like how they didn't make it all abstract and turn it into something else like other bands do.

  • is that a microphone, or an electric shaver?

  • Love this cover.

  • pretentious douchebags

  • Ahhh, they cover the best songs! <3

  • God sound like this.

  • @verloqueeseterno sound like dumbass? yuu

  • The bass guitarist seemed so angry at one point I thought he was going to hook the drummer in the head & then the singer's head began wobbling more than how much is that doggy in the back window anyway who cares if it seems a big deal when murder whores go lesbian? Is it no longer possible for people to evolve their categorizations and ways of navigating nations into the 21st Century we, many of us,may never see the end of, statistically speaking, these guys play so many off notes they win votes!

  • Only steve could play this song and not look winded.

  • What an awesome way for one great band to show respect for another.

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • Imagine ... on those days (60's and 70's) had this type of technology (INTERNET). What would Paul McCartney with Wings?

  • ATITUDE that's what's missing in Brazilian bands ...

I'm ashamed of here (Brazil) has a band that I can only say "this is good."

  • @emiparlophoneuk I must disagree, there are wonderful Brazilian rock bands, but the problem is that they never get out of underground.

  • the best cover i've ever heard.fantastic!!

  • "Now what?"

  • covering joy division's ceremony not new order!!!!

  • the music sounds more like Joy Division than New Order. That isn't a criticism by the way, I think it's really good

  • @PixellatedFaces it should have been the ending theme!

  • JOY DIVISION!!

    new order was quite different,

they weren't worth it to be near Ian Curtis,

specially not peter & bernard, they didn't give a fuck about 'm..

  • @simionTheOne cmon, joy division had a pact between themselves, if a member of the band will miss and the rest decide to keep playing they will had to do with a different kind of music and that's what they did, with the exception of ceremony's cover, but just because they never recorded a studio version...

  • Cover of JOY DIVISION. Idiot's.

  • "joy division cover"

  • @antics505 Yeah, that's correct.... New Order covered Ceremony, which was originally written by Ian Curtis thus making it a Joy Division track.

  • 'Forever, watching love grow'

    Ian Curtis x

  • One great band paying homage to another great band. And this is a Joy Division song.

  • Stunning.

  • @altac1989 They are just paying tribute to one of the bands they love, that´s all,it´s that simple...

  • Wow, I thought this song couldn't get any better, then Radiohead covered it. Sweet.

  • It's so cool to see them express their influences. The way Thom totally changes his voice from the norm is just amazing.

  • @altac1989 I think when Radiohead covered this tune it was purely because of the love of the band (New Order) & the song itself, look at how much Thom gets a kick out of it. I think that is the best attitude to have, to do things for yourself & out of passion. Anyone who enjoys it is welcome to come along for the ride. Better to do that then to cater to cunts like you...

  • @bingstar316 its joy division song not new order, ian curtis wrote it.

  • @mccaffffff actually Ian Curtis, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris are credited with writing it. Curtis died before JD could make it popular. Good looking out though, most people don't know that IC played a role in writing it.

  • A great choice of song for Radiohead to cover because they have that same integrity, depth and intensity as JOY DIVISION ( beats me why they uploaded it as a New Order song - New Order may have had more success with it but I much preffered Ian Curtis singing it .... different class } I'm not attacking Bernard but Ian was just a class above for me

  • Three of my favourite bands met in a great song!!...awesome.

  • Woah. I had no idea Thom's voice could go deep like that.

  • Fuck 23 people

  • @bdoerrfeld that'll be a very long night! :-)

  • @bdoerrfeld Yeah and the new three , they suck too....

  • @bdoerrfeld that'd be a nice evening

  • OH MY DAY TUNE

  • Pure joy.

  • wow the stuff you find on youtube

  • There's something very very special when one of my all time favorite bands (and one that is currently still around and still making music) covers one of my all time favorite songs. It just makes my hair stand.

  • whos he saying thank you to at the end?

  • I've gotta say, I like how this turned out. haha

  • I get goosebumps every time I watch this video. Both New Order and Radiohead have made the most beautiful songs of this lifetime...

  • if my mother cover this song, it would still be a great song

  • this song is a drug

  • this song its a drug

  • muy buenaa!!!

  • Bernard Summer,Peter Hook, and Stephen Morris were in the band JOY DIVISION with Ian Curtis when he (IAN) wrote this song.......they later collaborated with others(Gillian Gilbert and Phil Cunningham) to form New Order. They could not go on as Joy Division without Ian...good cover....good song....recorded or not by IAN....written by IAN....check liner notes people! credit given in sympathy for his untimely demise? I doubt it.

  • It doesn't matter if it was recorded or not people, it was written By Ian Curtis. Fact. It actually amazes me how many people are actually arguing about this.

  • love this song anf love this band, how amazing:)

  • there is a live version by JD on the album Still

  • THIS IS A JOY DIVISION SONG , WRITTEN BY IAN CURTIS, ONE OF HIS LAST , GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT PEOPLE

  • @Harassify It's hard to say, because it's written by Ian Curtis, but I don't think they had recorded it with him.

  • @Harassify Cierto thats true... but "ceremony" appears in New Order's "Movement". Is more easy to know this version of the song and, also, this version is closer to New Order than Joy Division sound.

  • @Harassify New Division played it too after Ian's dead, but you've got to admit this is the best Joy Division cover ever

  • @Harassify But better performed by New Order.

  • @mcnultyfrank better performed by radiohead actually...

  • @ggrthytjuyr nope

  • @ggrthytjuyr hahaha... no. love Radiohead to bits, but you cannot touch JD/NO in their own right, sorry.

  • @D0ST03VSKY you cant touch JD, ill admit, but new order lack the soul

  • @ggrthytjuyr Can't argue with that. JD were pure class and are perhaps my favorite band ever. NO had traces of genius but were an entirely different band.

  • @Harassify people are dumb it even says cover on the side lol

  • Just amazing

  • Just amazing

  • Yes, it has a garageband tone to it all... but the energy of the perfomance in itself is incredible.

  • For a band this "hyped" as Radiohead, this sounded amateur-ish at best. 2 out of 5...

  • @thedrowningmoon are you kiddin this is what any band would sound like in a garage

  • @thedrowningmoon I like how you are writing snooty little comments on youtube videos as if you're some sort of legitimate critic, and yet you are incapable of constructing a proper, coherent sentence.

  • :O glad they did this. glad they havent forgotten what kept em up at nights when they were kids.

  • @p1nkAcid totally.... respect to there heros.....total tribute nice one

  • Radiohead and Joy Division/New Order collide...The cover of all covers!!! So good!

  • NO es cover de New Order!!!!

  • como a alguien no le puede gustar.

  • not bad, lacks the energy that Stephen Morris delivered from the engine room with Hooky!...

  • A great band channeling a great band. What could go wrong?

  • It's like the best band ever covering the best band ever!

  • Really great cover of an utter classic.

  • 19 people have no soul

  • @milf007 seriously man cmon

  • Whoever disliked this must be deaf...

  • Originally aoy Division song, but New Orders 1st single

  • Just stumbled upon this tonight, not really a Radiohead fan btw, but this is a fantastic cover version, respect lads :)

  • this is a JOY DIVISION cover !!!! (not new order)

  • @Iamthewalrus84 I'm tired of this. same band, minus the original lead singer. Believe me pal, I was there in the lats 70s/early 80s, neither I nor any other JD fan I knew saw ANY difference. It was, and is, a continuation. If a person changes their name for legal reasons, they don't cease to be the same person. I amd sick and tired of this adolescent JD vs NO bollocks on you tube. There IS NO DIFFERENCE.

  • @liamevans . Im not agree. Could be the same members, but new order sounds different. They play differents kinds of music.

  • @Iamthewalrus84 Then you should listen to the first song's of new order, song's like ultraviolence , leave me alone, the him, .. they had some kind of similarity with jd , and that kinda looks a bit like the same music

  • @liamevans You are wrong. There are similarities of course, but Ian Curtis had a large influence on Joy division being the band they were, and without him the band did change. They may have changed even if he hadn't died, but he did, and the bands are different. If you need any actual evidence, just look to see what genres, and music styles the bands are listed under. While they do share some things, there are also several variances that consistently show up.

  • @Scttrbrain7 Youre absolutely right, to be honest its harder to find similarities between the two rather than differences. Im not a big fan of New Order, but I love Joy Division, and thats thanks to Ian Curtis.

  • @liamevans So what you are saying is that Joy Division would have released tracks like Blue Monday with Ian Curtis? Never. Ever.

  • man! this is the fusion of probably the 3 most important bands ever!!! they are so good and the song is just brilliant...

  • Great cover.

  • for the love of god, this is just beautiful

  • God, this is awesome.

  • I've always been a fan of the guitar sound in this song, and Radiohead definitely has nailed it here.

  • the best band in the world making a great cover, this always makes my day

    saludos desde mexico

  • i love joy division and new order but man this cover is awesome and radiohead will always be my favourite band

  • I love this version as Thom sings it with a deepness similar to Curtis' voice.

  • awesome!

  • good cover. better then their wish you were here cover.

  • fantastic

  • that is bloody mint!and thats my fave joy division new order track........nuff said

  • The original is good but... somehow this is better.

  • Thom is so into it....i love it!!!!

  • derkol is right,it was called celebration.

  • ha!

  • Pretty Jizzworthy

  • There's too many effin' idiots putting comments onto youtube......it gits on ma t*ts.

It was a good cover and that's that.

  • @TheMagicmodel Can't people say how thay feel about it unless it's coincides to your PATHETIC taste? This IS a crap cover. END OF STORY.

  • @benciano I was just making fun of your statement. I have all RH albums and i still like Creep. There's nothing wrong with it. And i still consider myself a RH fan.

  • @kroekman6 no! its if it is your favorite song, i dont like that song. Mainly cuz i did one too many covers of it. ims saying that if its your favorite song.

  • what a crap..........

  • Joy Division wrote this song.

  • @strongholdshc no way! Did they? Man.

  • @remainsoldmisery yeah man, search that shit! sooo good!

  • i love the little smile Thom does around .50

  • It's not a cover, it's a COPY. There is a difference. The former has some kind of ORIGINALITY. This doesn't.

  • @remainsoldmisery Some would argue that makes a good cover

  • @Zachism Yes, the hearing impaired that read lyrics.

  • How could you not love this? I don't really even

  • cool, sexy & crushing ;D

  • maybe radiohead wouldn"t exist without the smiths, new order, the cure

  • This is how you cover a song.

  • Grand-mal.

GREATEST COVER IN THE HISTORY OF MAN-KIND.

BETTER THAN NEW ORDERS VERSION, THEY SEEM EMPTY WITHOUT IAN.

  • new orders cover or joy divisions cover? are not the same?

  • I love this cover. The guitar and drums to ceremony are the best. Usually I would say the original is better and all the rest are just homage. This is the exception. I would listen to this version over New Order's or Joy Division's versions ten out of ten times. Excellent execution.

  • This is a wonderful cover of a wonderful song. I don't think many people understand how influential Joy Division really were?

  • @stenson47 agreed, all my favorite bands have said that they were influenced by joy division

  • A totally straight cover! I like.

  • phil kinda looks like the old gay neighbor dude in American Beauty in some of the shots in this vid but he is beast. great job radiohead! really captured the spirit of this song.

  • I wish i could download this!!!!

  • @gfcancio use a download prog. i got one from 'cnet.com' in their download section called GETGO DOWNLOAD MANAGER.its free from virus etc and its free to use.it will take the whole thing-video and audio and put it on your pc. then i use magic video converter to rip the audio as an mp3

  • MISTER IAN CURTIS , FOREVER.

  • No Stephen Morris : no Ceremony. And this drummer,f*cking, nailed it dead.

  • Now seeing them do these covers of iconic 80's English New Wave/ Post Punk English bands, it's not surprising to see from where Radiohead gathered a good measure of their influence. I grew up and was influenced by all of the great British music of the 80's, The Smiths, New Order, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Echo & The Bunnymen etc., so I could recognize the great potential of this great band when they began. Looking back so many years later, I stand in admiration at how accurate my prediction was.

  • Radiohead does an amazing cover of this classic. The first exposure I had to Radiohead was during the summer of 93,' when I heard & saw 'Creep' being played on late rotation on MTV as a 'Buzz Clip,' can anyone remember? Prior to that time, I had been listening to The Smiths and Morrissey a lot, so when I saw Radiohead on TV, this feeling overcame me that they were truly going to be a band just as great as The Smiths.

  • i've realized that this is my favourite song ever but i don't know who to credit it to

  • They are clearly covering the New Order version of this song. It's almost a 100% dupe.

  • at 3:46 it looks like Dr. House is on the bass...lol

  • A match made in heaven...A little bit of Joy Division and little bit of Radiohead is so nice. Very proper cover of arguably one of the best songs of all time. The best of both worlds.

  • This is a pretty good Joy Division cover.

    JOY DIVISION

  • Comment removed

  • this is excellent!!! you'd almost think it was new order, yet radiohead add a little something that i can't quite put my finger on!

  • i respect radiohead, but joy division is joy diviosion

  • I love how every single band tries to imitate ian's voice but ALWAYS fail. You cant ever 1up Joy Division.

  • Joy Division became New Order following Ian Curtis' death, hardly a cover version.

  • It's awesome how each band that covers this song executes it better than the band before it, but one thing's for sure... Joy Division wrote one of the best songs of all time!

Guns of the Seneca is covering it next btw...

  • Have to say Phil is doing a great job on drums, steve morris would be impressed!

  • Wait a second. Saying New Order "covered" ceremony is ludicrous. Ian died - Gillian replaced him. If, say, Led Zeppelin reformed with Bonhams son replacing him, would you consider them playing "Rock and Roll" a cover?

  • It's not so much a cover as an admiring tribute - and a great one, for sure.

  • love you forever radiohead !! great fuckin band ,but to cover my joy division ,fuckin love ya forever boys

  • This is a Joy Division song. New Order covered it.

  • This isn't a New Order cover, it is from Joy Division.

i suggest listen to the original Joy Division one which is the best. Radiohead just plays this as a fun to do gig which is awesome for fans, themselves and others who might stumble upon it.

    Thank you for uploading it.

  • Did anyone else notice Ed O'Brien was playing bass in this video... kinda weird.
