we spend about 1.5 trillion a year (not including inflation) and they want to be able to save this amount in ten years....so we get one year off for nine we get screwed, and that would be about more or less 20 trillion dollars by 2020....how could anyone be stupid enough to believe this makes sense to have a "super congress" when regular congress has a 9-13 percent approval rating????????

Sorry guys, but anyone should know that this is constitutional. It is created by each congress and voted on by each congress. NO congress can make another congress do anything. This only applies to this congress. Each future congress will do as they please. This is why my tea party compatriots are full of it when they complain that this was not a win. it's long been obvious to all observers - economics, politician, rating groups that to closing fiscal gap will required TAX INCREASED... so the budget has income/revenue... and now... we are all know who resist the tax increased ??... they don't like tax increased...and they don't want debt ceilling being raised... we cut the spending... too bad for government employee...and definitely no hiring... What needs to be understood here is the difference between tax rate increases, new taxes, and additional revenue; they are all different things. We do not need increased tax rates. When the economy gets going again the revenue from that source will return to what it used to be. Tax reform is what is needed to bring in more revenue. We need tax simplification.

Though it's wrong that congress is dodging its responsibility, the joint-committee is nothing more than a bill-writing committee.

It was congress who voted to give up some of its abilities in the lawmaking process for this. And with the exception of a bill that raises revenue, it is not unconstitutional. --If a bill does call for raising revenue, such a bill should be killed in each house's own committee.

The joint-committee gets terminated on 01/31/12.

There are an equal number of Democrats and Republicans on this committee and they just might be honest. History proves govts allowed to regulate at will for "public interests" grant themselves limitless power and eradicate liberty.  I encourage you to study Austrian economics.
