  • what ratio of water and cat litter do you use

  • Very nice.

    The blue (DIY) glass cleaner.

I tried it, the magnets were too strong.

    What say you ?

  • 3:38 so basicly something that looks like elefant shit lol really good fid i will be using this method thanks for the info

  • whats an egg crate?lol i know its a lame question....plz respond

  • Excellent setups.

    Another question.

Why no bald cypress trees, they grow in water.

Miniature bald cypress would look good I think.

See minature bald cypress in bonsai videos.

    Cheers

  • Two questions.

    1. What is that blue (thing) on thecornerr of the tank ?

    2. How often do you siphon out water. ?

  • @drychalice Check my diy glass cleaner for the blue thing. And I only siphoned them like 2-3 times a year.

  • I'd love to make a background like that for my Chinese Water Dragon's 55g long. (He's so spoiled.) What kind of kitty litter do you recommend?

  • So it's just regular kitteh litter?

  • @MrKnightLurker If you have any sort of outside aircomming into the tank, the clay will dry out, crack, and fall off the glass. My tanks are completely sealed, and I still have dry sections.

  • @MrKnightLurker The only chamelion tanks I have seens are all mesh, or at least have mesh tops. Neither will work using clay. From what I understand they need super high air circulation, so thats why people keep them in mesh cages, with added drip features to mantain humid areas.

  • hey mate.

just love how it looks, but is it sturdy?

because i think i want to use ur mixture for a chameleon...

    cheers

  • @basjunk Definitely not for a chameleon. Their tanks are kept way to dry for this type of background. Sorry!

  • thank you! now I'm finally starting to understand how to make a false bottom!

  • PLEASE HELP!!! I built my false bottom exactly like this but the water doesnt soak through??? it just sits on top!!!!

  • how much was the egg crate and where did you get it?

  • This video is genius!

  • what size tank is this

  • Does the humidity screw with the clay at all???

    AWESOME ENCLOSURE!!!! LOVE IT

  • @ItsMeDaveT Yup it needs to stay humid, but not overly wet or else it becomes soft. Its a tough to get right.

  • I was wondering what the dimensions were of the 20 gallon tanks and if they were aquariums or just regular terrariums.

  • @8686jacksmith Just regular 20 gallons. about 24 long, 16 high and 12 front to back.

  • @jgrimmier thanks

  • Its been a day and a half btw

  • I got some "special kitty" kitty litter in a big red bag says 100% ground clay and i put it in a bucket with a bunch of water and the water level hasnt moved and the granduels are still hard... Should i use hot water?

  • @Dengakuman13 lol. you need to mix it in then itll soak it up.

  • Hey if its not to much to ask could u make a super in depth diy of the vivarium from start to finish and explain wat you use ie kitty liter plants sand etc. Thanks so much oh and your extremely talented at what you do.

  • Do you think it would be possible to do a background with "Great Stuff" then cover it with the clay solution, instead of the peat moss cover solution? What do you think?

  • @jhiner1978 Yes for sure. I will most likely incorporate both methods in my next massive tank. Im still unsure weather the clay will stick better to the foam "skin" or when it is carved. Maybe test it out.

  • Where did u get the false botttom? I think im going to buy 2 red eyed tree frogs and i want to make sure 1 - get the best stuff 2 - the right stuff 3 - the safe stuff and 4 - a water feature of pond for them. . can you please tell me where you got the false bottom and how much did this all ocst? Pls and thank you :D . . nice video by the way !

  • @ALoveForOrcas He made the false bottom out of egg grate its easy didnt you listen what he said and how he built it.

  • @iloveprairiedogs You didnt do anything wrong, its the clay you bought. The product is inconsistent and sometimes the clay has been fired too long and it will not absorb water no matter how long it sits in water. Your best bet would be to try another brand, and just make sure it is 100% also.

  • my first question is how expensive is this background. and uve told me tht constant water contact isnt good for it corect? if it isnt, how wood i seprate a water area from the background? and also wood it hold up hevy peices of rock and wood? last question is how do u water ur plants with thz method? wood a raining sytem work ok (like in my 2nd tank) or no?

  • a DIY for the planting would be nice if u could?

  • theres not going to be running water in this tank?

  • just did the clay background method for the first time the other day. I was very happy with how it turned out!

  • pls do the diy on planting :D, im trying to replicate something like that but i was wondering if normal clay would work 2? just use the clay u dont need 2 bake and maybe paint it over with acrylic paints

  • That's so coool :D

but how do you make a false bottom :<?

  • How do you know if all those clays and cat litter clays you've used before is safe for amphibians and all?

  • nice
