  • Hellyeah... :)

  • I know Jerry Jeff is a unique individual, but does anybody else hear a similarity to Robert Earl Keen's voice and style?

  • He reminds me of Hoyt Axton

    party guy

  • thumbs up if you got this from THAT '70s SHOW

  • @panggulo12345 country folk can survive, mother fucker.

  • great! still have some of the best Jerry Jeff albums in my old lady collection!!!!

  • He is awesome as a song writer. Even he knew he'd be better off selling it to a true songmaster. His family didn't die poor. He wrote alot of songs, people aren't even aware.

  • @kam313on Ray Wiley Hubbard wrote Redneck Mother.

  • Rednecks are not bad people! They are all just older kids who refuse to grow up. They just wanna drive trucks, shoot the shit, and drink lots and lots of beer. We're in Texas and that's normal around here.

  • MR Crosby please come home to Oneonta we'll have a beer at the palms or jerrys or city hall .....and then RALLY AT THE TALLY HO............remember Lora Boone ?

  • I've attended 2 or 3 Jerry Jeff's performances and still can't get enough! Hey honey, you still married?

  • Typical Jerry Jeff show. Everyone singing along and know all the words. This is good time music!

So Well So Well So Well!!!!

  • i love how the whole crowd is clapping and singing along.....thats a good time song right there

  • Texas is not awesome? Well we did kick an entire country's ass.Not to many other states can say that.Anyone who says that Tx sucks has prob. never been here.Long live bonnie blue and the Lone star state!

  • @Ih8libs78

Well, it was only a bunch of Mexicans after all.

  • ha!!!..Texas sux bigtime..and fool..Jerry Jeff Walker( from NY.) was a bigtime hippie in the 60's

  • @makewarnomore loser. i would correct you, but people like you who live in a fantasy world, refuse the truth, so you can perpetuate your own delusions.

  • TEXAS is awesome

  • You don't have to be from Texas to love Jerry Jeff. He's from Oneonta, NY, by the way. I'm from NYC. It's all about attitude, not geography. Jerry Jeff's live recording of Mr. Bojangles from WBAI radio and on the 5 Years Gone album got me through Vietnam. I played that cassette my cousin had made of the album for me until it was just shredded. 42 years later, I still say long live JJW!

  • Ray Wylie Hubbard wrote this song!

  • Ray wylie Hubbard wrote this song!

  • I thought Bobby Bare wrote this song. He recorded it quiet a few years ago.

  • Kickin' hippies' asses!

  • Dana Carvey on guitar and Elton John's brother Elton Ron on bass!

  • @alexpetro27 lol omg too funny

  • Comment removed

  • Dana Carvey on Lead guitar...

  • Great bar song!! creates a sing a long every time. Love Jerry Jeff and thanks to Ray Wylie Hubbard for writing this for sure.

  • THIS IS MY FAVORITE NEW SONG.....FUNNY AS FUK

  • I SAW JJ ON MONDAY NITE; HE'S AS GOOD AS EVER.

  • this was in That 70s show. been looking for this song

  • Hey 4zeichen! I bet you like ABBA too. You can't spell worth a sheet but I bet you can spell and write ABBA backwards. It's actually spelled "peenut" and "mushmellows". Oh, and by the end of the week. Tiger will have just donated 500+million to his ex. I think she should spend some of that hard earned money on golf lessons for Tiger!

  • Isn't it funny how a guy from New York can go down south, meet a guy by the name of Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, then write a big hit song (JJ wrote Mr. Bojangles, which later became a hit for NGDB), cover this R. W. Hubbard gem, and have a big hit with it? What a multi-talented guy!

  • You are all that Jerry Jeff!!! xo

  • Beth Pray.

  • JJ, you don't make a pimple on Merle's butt.

  • Dude Jerry Jeff is straight up workin' this crowd!!!

  • so well! so well! so well! I appreciate this more the older I get.

  • @kkay1963 Yep, the older we get. I like the way I have seen him sing this song. He Says " So well ,so well ,so well, so WHAT"

  • Inspired by seeing Jerry Jeff a bunch of times in the early 70's my rock band has played this song every gig since 1974. We'll be playing it tomorrow night. God bless Jerry Jeff Walker.

  • good song

  • i forgot much i loved jerry jeff

  • i forgot much i loved jerry jeff

  • Ha! Haven't heard this one in forever! Great song!

  • I'd love to hear Sir Paul McCartney sing this!!! LOL

  • A lady in college told me I should listen to some of this guys music, because my "spirit" reminded me of her. At first I thought this lady is a nut and a hippy, but gave her a min of my time and found out she's a smart nurse that's there for some license stuff. It's nuts how we meet these people in our lives and I hope I do bump into her one day to let her know I did listent to this. I usually am more into three days grace, staind or rock of some sort

  • how bout paparoach or disturbed?

  • Yeah I listen to them too. I love all kinds of music but I find rock more artistic to relate to. I'm also a big fan of incubus and smashinjg pumpkins

  • This Vid is so funny. When Jerry Jeff changes his voice to do the

"M O T H E R" words (mud flaps, oil on his hair, etc.) it cracks me up every time I watch it. And, the turkey gobble ...? This man has a BLAST doing his "work". Watching this vid, to me, is like a shot of B12. It dries me wild, no matter how many times I watch it. GREAT! Long live JJW, and his great friends.

  • The great Lloyd Maines on Pedal Steel...yeah, he's Natalie's daddy, but he can play the steel like no other.

  • He was cosidered pretty good in his day.. One of the better steel players 20 years ago.

  • wasnt this song on one of that 70s show episodes? where red lost his job and him n eric an hide n fez got all drunk at the bar, n kitty was drivin them home and they was singin this song.. i think its this song lol

  • Yes it was, Reds last day. When Kitty was driving them all hame from the bar.

  • i thought it was, i was just makin sure.. thanx

  • no one asked you for your 2 cents

  • @jojack7 yep, same number as asked your gay ass

  • Anyone know where I can find "Pissing in the Wind"

  • Sorry, just being a redneck. LOL I will look and see what the CD is. I have several

  • Lloyd Maines on Steel??

  • Yes, it is. I did a Google PHOTO search on "Lloyd Maines", for you, and it is him. (I'm new to JJW, but am so hooked I have to watch 'Redneck Mother' here at least 6 times a day...) ... and all the rest of JJW YouTubes! ;)

  • OMG! Oncore! Bravo, Bravo!!!

  • I,being a clod hopper okie< LOL have seen JJW many a time here and in tx. Hes always been a fav of mine. Great song writer for sure!

  • Just met Jerry Jeff out in Idaho this summer-great guy, and I love this good old bar song

  • I saw that 70s show episode and had to find this song because it sounded familiar. It's the same song I heard the Good Brothers rock the Doc's in Belleville in the early 80s. Good fun.

  • i had to do the same thing, that was a good rerun tonite. B

  • Every sissy boy who wasn't born in Tejas is a jealous bedwetting , loafer wearing, pink shirt sporting ,dirty no good son of clod hopper from Oklahoma. See you in Dallas boner sooner. Stackb

  • yeah I guess ya'll WILL see us in prime form.. Look forward to it Tejas. LOL

  • I didn't even realize this was a song till I saw it on "That 70's Show". I recall being in a bar in London Ontario Canada, and these two Canadian Army guys kept yelling out, "Up against the wall you redneck mother!". At that time I just thought it was something they made up lol.

  • I recall a feller once got to talkin' to me back in 76 and we kinder got to makin' friends and he paid me a great complement .... he said " a lot a my pals are rednecks ... uh cowboys!" cause us cowpunchers ain't rednecks .... as such.

  • Why would any Southerner include a yankee Midwest state like Oklahoma in their lyrics? There is nothing country nor southern about OK.

  • and there is nothing southern about jerry jeff walker either,....he's from new york.

  • new york is redneck in oswego and lewis counties, so is the southern teir

  • my comment was made to "edelweissnpa", and his dumb comment.....

  • haha. . .nothing country about Oklahoma. Its more southwestern in culture and attitudes than deep south, I'll give you that. . .but not country. . .thats a bit ridiculous.

  • are you stupid

  • do you even know what country looks like do even have grass or trees or any fucking lakes to speak of you need to take a good look around and rethink what the hell your even talking about thats from mid-west OKLAHOMA you stupid mo-fo

  • I don't think one's birthplace should dictate their musical interests. If I had been born in Europe, where opera originated, would that mean I could only be interested in opera? I know there are a lot of people who are proud of their heritage, and resent what they consider "outsiders". But they should be flattered that the music of their origins attracts people from other areas or upbringings. That's what keeps the music alive!

  • i agree with 09findhorn 100%

  • Heck yeah!

I'm from the Netherlands, and even I like this song!

  • To V1z0 from 09findhorn: Right! Music, of all things, shouldn't have borders!

If you like Jerry Jeff, check out the YouTube video of his Pickup Truck Song posted by ContrarytoOrdinary.

  • Yes, 09findhorn .... one treasure find after the other ... ContrarytoOrdinary's are good, and BRod313 have done such a great job of sharing these JJW vids.

They hold-ya-over until you can start collecting. Vkz0 ... everyone can have a blast watching, looking up lyrics and ... SINGING ALONG! This has been a RIOT for me discovering JJW's unique craft!

    Yaaaahhhhhh Hoooooo! ;)

  • @blueskiesblue: I regret not seeing JJW live years ago, when he performed more often in the SF area, but thanks to YouTube, and the generous vid posters, I can keep up with some of his gigs. Good start for a rainy day, or any day!

  • I know, 09findourn ~ This is bitter sweet for me. Sorry I missed allll those years, but dang! So much fun discovering him now. What a GREAT entertainer .. and NICE person! Bless his heart! xxxxooo

  • Im a swiss... But this song is better than penutbutter or marschmellows^^

no, im serious... This song is awsome!! Hope i can make it to the States one day...

just drinking a cold beer and listening to the song over and over...

btw. Texas must be awesome too^^

  • Texas is awesome. I lived here my whole life. Yee haw!

  • I'm from tennessee but you can come here and drink a beer. :-)

  • Texas is overrated--- steers and queers

  • @4zeichen Ha Ha yeah Texas is fun. Maybe I'll see ya around one day poundin' cold beer and listening to this!

  • @4zeichen Glad U appreciate good, fun music. Texas is good but Oklahoma is better! LOL Needless to say, "I was born, In Oklahoma" ...........

  • @4zeichen

    Texas is Spanish for "friend."

  • @4zeichen Texas isnt that grand

  • @4zeichen I hope you can too !!!!! Welcome to the USA my friend. I live in OKLAHOMA, next door to TX but.. if ya want to have a great time.. OKLAHOMA!! TX isnt bad either.

  • @4zeichen I hope you can too !!!!! Welcome to the USA my friend. I live in OKLAHOMA, next door to TX but.. if ya want to have a great time.. OKLAHOMA!! TX isnt bad either. We like beer. LOL Hving one now. :-)

  • @4zeichen Wow, maybe I AM SWISS? I have a strange maiden name,,,,, ZEIN. I am German? just half, lol ,the other half, Irish... Actually Scottish. What a mix .ehhh? LOL And yes, this band is the best ever. I, too, hope U make it to the states. Seen them many times in my drunken stupor but.... Always remembered!!

  • @4zeichen It is and we'll be glad to have you stop in...

  • @4zeichen - I love your attitude - you probably appreciate Culture ! because that is what this is all about - good fun , and Family values.... And a little beer too.. got a cold one now. Great Guitar Solo. Go Swiss! Go USA ! Go Colorado ! I drove my first tractor when I effin was five...

  • @4zeichen Jerry Jeff is an old Texas staple - hope you can visit sometime. If you do, go to AUSTIN!

  • @4zeichen Texas is not particularly awesome if you ask me. Big and mostly flat, and hot as blazes in the summertime. I much prefer living up the road apiece in Colorado!

  • @JohnnieBeer It sounds like you have only seen a very small part of the great state of Texas. Come spend a month in Texas and you still won't have seen all of it. Although I live in Florida now, Texas is and always will be home. So maybe you should look before you leap or shut the hell up.

  • @bholt0406 What on earth are you talking about? You're making a ridiculous assumption. FYI, I already "looked before I leaped". Better yet, I think you need to "shut the hell up"; your ignorance is showing. Admitting you left Texas to go to Florida was pretty darned stupid too, wasn't it?

  • @4zeichen Come to Texas, we would be happy to show you good times in Texas!

  • @4zeichen Texas rules! If you visit, go to the "hill country" region. Very beautiful, hills, rivers, etc. Austin, San Antonio and the southern coast, towards Mexico. I lived there most my life and for a visitor, I suggest these areas.

  • Ahhh my theme song.....mother raised this son well. Thank you mom.

  • Everytime I hear this, I think of Caroline, and her 442

    Girl, you still out there?

  • Yeeeeeeeehaw!!!

*Yells* SO WELL SO WELL LIKE HELL!!!

    :d

  • How do them balls taste, Da Punkz?

  • If you were not born in Texas no one can understand. It is a state of mind.

  • While i agree 100% with you, I hate to tell you, but Jerry Jeff was born and grew up in New York.

  • haaa haaa what a dope ...1998disco72 I guess Jerry Jeff would have something to say about your opinion bein born in Greenwich Village NYC. LOL!

  • Actually, he was born upstate in Oneonta, NY

  • H is for haggard.. T is for t-bird

  • Wonder why he didn't say "H" is for Haggard?

  • Oh man I can "almost" remeber the concerts.. LOL 70's and yeah, I was stoned/ LOL

  • I use to go every of his performances at the Main Point when David Brombeck backed him. Always late for the show as he was downing a bottle at the local bar.

  • You saw Jerry Jeff AND David Bromberg backing him? That's cool!

  • With the incomparable Lloyd Maines.

  • AAAA, good OLE Jerry Jeff Walker, man oh man, if there was a redneck, I knew him growing-up, I always leaned toard the white collar and social scale, and my Father use to say, DON'T forget where you came from, because in the end, we will all be here when the rest put thier tales between their legs and runs home, REMEMBER that girl. Well, I never did get that until I got older and got in the social connection I wanted the new shiny things and had a few kids of my own, and wow DADDY sure wasRIGHT

  • Lright, so.. what does that have to do with anything here? LOL U not a redneck nor a Hippy.. U R a Yippy.. nuttin to do with this but glad U enjoy the music, Just messing with you my friend.

  • Well hell, I didn't know JJW was from New York. Guess Ray Hubbard was an influence..........god love 'em.

  • I remember being a redneck kid in Oklahoma, driving my 67 GMC with a flatbed and this song blaring in the old tape deck...lol.

    What memories. :)

  • great song

  • This song makes me wanna beat up wiggers!!

  • You're kinda missin' the point of the song, hoss.

  • This song brings back some great memories.
