  • You can speed it up or slow it down this song still sucks...

  • This is what the band should do with this song my impression is more upbeat and digestible. I prefer this version verses the original Thank you

  • Love it, man! Thanks for the bass boost. I think it's better than the original but, like others, just a notch slower would be killer. Not much slower though.

  • Maybe you can boost the bass on Metallica's ...and justice for all??????????????

  • @ralis11 Probably not. Lots people have already bass boosted that whole album, plus I only did this just to screw around.

  • Your version sounds better than the orininal.

  • never mind, I just listened again the speed is perfect.

  • I like you're version better. I agree with others that a bit slower may be perfect, but much better than the original. Maybe VH will sing the original faster in concert.

  • I agree...I like both...but this seems a bit too fast. Maybe a little slower.

  • Sounds great, but slowed down a pinch would make it better.

At this speed, I'm almost expecting 16ths on the hi-hat ;-)

  • I like it ! :-)

  • When I buy the digital download from Amazon I'm going to delete the old version and put this one in its place.

  • I LIKE IT!!!!!!

  • i think it's just a hair too fast too. just a notch lower i think.

  • how da fuk ya do this?

  • @eugejnr1 I simply sped it up in audacity and then lowered the pitch top match that of the original tune while maintaining a higher speed. And I used custom bass boost options to specifically make Wolfgang's bass stand out a bit more.

  • Official version: meh

    Sped up: Headbang Achieved

  • I like where you're going. These geezers need a side-swipe into the fast lane. It's not Neil sedaka, it's supposed to be vanfuckinhalen. Rock like you still got a pair!

  • @urbanesasquatch Well I don't think slow songs in general are bad. One of Van Halen's most famous songs is "Runnin' with the Devil" which is even slower than the original version of this. However, I do believe that this song did need to be faster. It felt awkward with it's regular speed.

  • too fast for this kind of song. It ruined it.

  • it sounds more van halenish at this tempo and tone. I like it, same song just with more energy.

  • This just sounds stupid and gay.......it misses the whole point......it's supposed to be a slow sexy blusey groove...........this is dumb

  • its sounds Better.

you were thinking (something related to the music industry)

well thats Good But it doesn't take a sound expert to know that

the song was too slow & sounds like a DLR Band left over.

yeah i like this Better. Good job

  • hahaha Van Halen on fast forward!

  • I'd be very curious to hear a version with a tempo exactly halfway between the original and what you have here. If you are so inclined, that is. Neat effect man. Thx.

  • Its cool but I'd slow it down just a notch. Then perfect.

  • @IamHonest Thank you :) I prefer this constructive criticism such as this to just "no".

  • no

  • So you prefer your music to be grooveless with no feel or dynamics huh?

Sorry guy, it doesn't have to fast to be well written or to rock. Original version is miles better.

  • @purpleidiot I think it all depends on the song really. Some slow songs are fantastic (such as Ride On by AC/DC), but to me I felt like this song was being held back by it's slow speed. It just didn't feel right to me. To me, I felt like this needed a beat I could really move considering it's about tattoos after all. But this is all just my personal opinion.

  • This is really cool man. Had I not heard the slower version first, I can really see preferring this. I wasn't crazy about the album version when I first heard it. However, I've now listened to that version a good dozen times and am really diggin the heavy groove. Check out "Down In Flames", a VH tune from the late 70s that never made an album. They wrote new lyrics and "Tattoo" was born. But they did it a little faster. I think you'll dig it. Thanks for posting this. Very cool.

  • This sounds like the version I heard on Howard Stern the other day. I feel like it sounds a lot more like Van Halen than the "official" version. Good job. You have my vote for their new producer if it ever comes to that.

  • @jstr66 I was actually thinking of getting a masters degree in communications and a minor in something related to the music industry. I will continue looking in to that :)

  • 1000 time's better
