Love it, man! Thanks for the bass boost. I think it's better than the original but, like others, just a notch slower would be killer. Not much slower though.
I like you're version better. I agree with others that a bit slower may be perfect, but much better than the original. Maybe VH will sing the original faster in concert.
@eugejnr1 I simply sped it up in audacity and then lowered the pitch top match that of the original tune while maintaining a higher speed. And I used custom bass boost options to specifically make Wolfgang's bass stand out a bit more.
I like where you're going. These geezers need a side-swipe into the fast lane. It's not Neil sedaka, it's supposed to be vanfuckinhalen. Rock like you still got a pair!
@urbanesasquatch Well I don't think slow songs in general are bad. One of Van Halen's most famous songs is "Runnin' with the Devil" which is even slower than the original version of this. However, I do believe that this song did need to be faster. It felt awkward with it's regular speed.
I'd be very curious to hear a version with a tempo exactly halfway between the original and what you have here. If you are so inclined, that is. Neat effect man. Thx.
@purpleidiot I think it all depends on the song really. Some slow songs are fantastic (such as Ride On by AC/DC), but to me I felt like this song was being held back by it's slow speed. It just didn't feel right to me. To me, I felt like this needed a beat I could really move considering it's about tattoos after all. But this is all just my personal opinion.
This is really cool man. Had I not heard the slower version first, I can really see preferring this. I wasn't crazy about the album version when I first heard it. However, I've now listened to that version a good dozen times and am really diggin the heavy groove. Check out "Down In Flames", a VH tune from the late 70s that never made an album. They wrote new lyrics and "Tattoo" was born. But they did it a little faster. I think you'll dig it. Thanks for posting this. Very cool.
This sounds like the version I heard on Howard Stern the other day. I feel like it sounds a lot more like Van Halen than the "official" version. Good job. You have my vote for their new producer if it ever comes to that.
@jstr66 I was actually thinking of getting a masters degree in communications and a minor in something related to the music industry. I will continue looking in to that :)
You can speed it up or slow it down this song still sucks...

@ralis11 Probably not. Lots people have already bass boosted that whole album, plus I only did this just to screw around.

Sounds great, but slowed down a pinch would make it better.
At this speed, I'm almost expecting 16ths on the hi-hat ;-)

it sounds more van halenish at this tempo and tone. I like it, same song just with more energy.

So you prefer your music to be grooveless with no feel or dynamics huh?
Sorry guy, it doesn't have to fast to be well written or to rock. Original version is miles better.
