I just wanted to comment on something. I read somewhere that if a Muslim performs a sin such as murder/suicide/terrorism and other dreadful sins, then that same person denounces Islam and therefore can not rightfully be called a Muslim/Islamic terrorist.

I actually have statistics to back me up, though. All the surveys I've seen about this show that people trust atheists less.
I do agree that religious bigotry is not cool, but we can't overuse it. After all, christians also claim they're persecuted in the USA.
The difference (beside the lack of trust thing) is that you hijab, I have no external signs of my atheism, so you're more likely to be harassed.

well, all holy scriptures seem to have the same hypocritical double meanings on this issue. it will say not to be proud and then assign divine favoritism to themselves. i dont see how it is entirely the fault of the reader when they are raised to respect or even think true these forms of scripture all their life.

truth is, nobody knows what is beyond the universe, if anything, and to teach children they have the absolute truth based on a simple book, just encourages illogical thinking, and felicitates poor decision making in their future.

be that as it may, the point is: no matter whether you believe you have absolute truth or not, you are clearly commanded not to be proud. for the people who continue to be proud, then that is their own weakness that they need to work on. It's not a weakness of the system, be it religious, political, social, etc. Btw, there is no such thing as "divine favouritism" towards muslims: all who seek can receive guidance. this is very clear in the quran

mohammad clearly stated that the prophets of the past have strayed from the "true faith" and teachings of god. if you believe he is correct and that you are now following the "true faith" imposed by god, don't you think that means that everyone else must be wrong?

he never said that about the prophets of the past. he said the generations *after* the prophets strayed (just like some muslims today have also strayed). and it is besides the point, which is that anybody can receive guidance, either muslim or non-muslim. there is no "divine favouritism"

The whole point in Islam is that ur accountable to GOD therefore u must try ur best on Earth not to offend or hurt because that can be brought upon u on the day of judgement and u wouldnt be in a very good position if u pissed ppl off because even if God forgives u these ppl may not and God would have to provide the justice

He said that sometimes followers strayed NEVER the Prophets. &2ndly no one muslims espcially have the right to judege anyone but themselves because we know this is God's vicinity & to infringe on that is to infringe on God and He-high &exalted- wouldnt appreciate that

I suggest before you utter nonsense like this read the tafseer- word-for-word explanation of the Quran.
Heck, before that, read the Prophet's life.
There is no disturbing images or anti-kuffar. Arabic is not the same EXACT in English. It is altered.

if your holy book is so open to interpretation what was the point of making it to begin with? if a god wanted to make itself known, im sure he could have found a far better way of doing it. the only rational explanation to the poor delivery system, as well as the outdated and immoral teachings found in the koran, is that it was written exclusively by men. it may have been some intellectually revolutionary thinking for the time on some levels... but still as flawed as the men who wrote it.

It's not open to interpretation. It is clear as glass. However, you could take something as pure as a unicorn and use it for heinous purposes. Most people's intention is NOT to see what the Holy Quran states, but to read it to use it against itself.
The Quran was sent for all times. It's NOT outdated. immoral? excuse me but this is the Quran not the shit the West has been in. Again. You USE the quran against itself. If that is what you desire, that is what you'll get.

you want something more poetic and profound than the koran? hamlet act 3 scene 1. you want something more intellectual than the koran? einstein's "on the electrodynamics of moving bodies". clearly both written by men, and far superior in my humble opinion.
if you think a god wrote that book, then i must conclude, that "god" is too small for me.
if you want me to point out a couple immoral muslim teachings that should be condemned by rational people, let me know. (thought crime comes to mind)...

im glad you have everything figured out. every answer you need wrapped up in a single book. well, i'll continue to explore as many avenues of knowledge as possible; cross checking analyzing and testing hypothesis are more my thing. if submitting to the "answers" you are given by some self imposed authority figure is your thing, then i wish you luck. i only hope it doesn't lead you to do anything dangerous or destructive, physically or politically.

have you noticed that in the past few 100 years few ppl who claim erroneous things about the quran and are told to write something better they can't?
first thing is if you want to crosscheck, crosschecking in english is useless. it was a quran revealed by word, not paper or parchment. it's in arabic. the translation is done only by those given knowledge.

again, i dont understand why your god couldn't make his message clearer. why not simply inscribe a stone with the message of the koran and have everyone see it in their own language? he's all powerful right? maybe your god doesn't want to be understood? or maybe it was made up by men...

i don't mean give an example of something better. because, there is none. shakespeare and einstein were not the first of their kind. there were many researchers. the quran, however, is not a book of research or knowledge or study. it is a holy book. no one man or group's writings can compare to it. t
