i have a question. when he over rev it many times doesn't make the engine blow?? how about the turbo?? if you do that many time it surely wear out the engine and blow the engine right?? correct me if i'm wrong..
@acat46 It's a rotary engine. They have much less rotating mass than a comparable piston engine. With a huge turbo and the port work that he was using there, you have to put it past 6000rpm before it even makes a lot power. The turbo is so big it will flow air past 10,000rpm. Sometimes he would take it as far as 12,000, but not typically. You don't normally blow a rotary from over-revving it like you might a piston engine. They blow from improper tuning. (which is what was being fixed here)

@acat46 It's actually a very simple piece of engineering. That's the beauty of the motor. The only mods he was doing to the internals of the motor was in the porting. Proper bridgeport with all the right parts bolted on, and you've got a beast on your hands. Stock parts = cheap to rebuild when you blow it up.
Anytime you push 600hp+ out of a small engine, you're asking for trouble. It's not a matter of if, but when it blows up. Learn how to rebuild for cheap if you're drag racing.

A 3 rotor weighing much less than a V8 can pump out just as much if not much more than a V8 with out having a turbo on it. It was out on its very first night of tuning. The fire its shooting there was from the two-step rev limiter used to build boost. The car left the line at almost full boost.

you should be able to get the FD that fast with a full turbo back, intakes, front mount, fuel system upgrade and a power FC tune, they make power easily, you just got to make sure you have to fuel system to support it,thats how i blew mine up.
It never went down a 1/4 mile track, but it probably pulled 9's. He did run it on the short track a lot. You can see that in my HKS Drags video. You may not like drag, but if you ride in a car like that, you start to enjoy it very quickly!

It's not my car, its a friend of mine. He never put it on a dyno, but damn it went fast with that setup. If you look up my other videos, there's one with him racing at an HKS Drag Meet.
I forget what he was running back then, nothing crazy, though. Rotaries don't need high boost, they need a lot of flow. His T51S may have only been pushing 15 or 20 psi, but its a hell of a lot of flow compared to normal sized turbos.

looks like the Amemiya FC2000 headlights kit. Its expensive as hell, but looks so freakin nice.
for your headlights, just buy new lenses with stronger lightbulbs at any parts store.

As far as spending 4K to run 13's... hell, I watch modified muscle cars run 14's and 15's at the track all the time. Assuming they can all do 13's out of the box is a joke. Magazine numbers don't translate into real world performance, as most of us know.
Tons and tons of guys with 'muscle cars' put big exhausts on them and think they are race cars. Those are some of my favorite prey to stomp on.
