After haveing played GT5 for a long time now, I am at a point where I don't care about the circuits, I just want to race for fun. The Top gear test track would be fun to race because I love the show....why would they want to force fans to deal with this type of frustration just to be able to enjoy something we've paid for?

As long as the other cars aren't braking, I am fairly certain you can bump them pretty good. If you touch them at all while they are braking (even in the sides), you are DQed.

Its funny to see a race thats actually pretty funny getting so much hate just because people don't have the skills. Really guys, everyone i know has them all on gold. It takes some practice but getting stuff at gold in GT has never been easy.

some tips:

brake a little bit late and besides the other vans (don't break on teh ideal line)

make use of slipstream ( very important)

you can bump the other vans a little, find out how much

I think the Producers of Top Gear designed this event in the game. Yes I think they were trying to joke around with the gamers just like they do with Richard, James, and Jeremy. I was at a friends house today trying to get passed this event so we could race on this track and not once could I do it. I got finally to Gambon and the right then second place pushed me off the track. Well looks like I will have to try this your way to see if I can do it.

The Top Gear Races are such a cock-tease. They have that intro showing off the Lotus, the Lambo the DB9 and then they make you race this stupid bus and some army truck. At least the Elise race is face-paced, but this is easily the most stupid set of races in the entire game.

dont know how you manage 56mph on the first straight to the first bend, flat out i can only get 54, so im unable to get into 11th place on the first bend. also dont know how the hell you didnt get dq'd for that driving. i touch a blade of grass and im booted. youre either the luckiest player going or you're cheating in some way

Holy shit, I managed to do it! It requires a wide line on almost turns, except for hammerhead, but especially the turn before gambon, because all the buses will brake -- got to 1st place before hammerhead on 2nd lap with that

Great guide mate, just completed on my 4th try after watching this, the different line you take on the first corner is definately the way to do it! once you get that right you can fly through the pack!

The lap time that I got "Gold" on was actually half a second slower than the computer 1st place in my previous race. So I should have come 2nd but freakin' lucked out. That's not such a nice feeling after 3 hours of trying to figure out this track but glad it's over. "The real racing approximation" ..!

Sadly [ maddeningly ] there also seems to be an element of luck involved. The AI cars run the same scripted race each time, but if you compare the lap times after finishing a race you'll see that there's actually approx. +/- 0.5 secs variance in the 1st place time. I'm guessing Polyphony introduces some kind of "jitter" to the rolling start positions so that you don't get the exact same lap times every race and explains why position of cars is not consistent entering the first left turn.

Got "Silver" pretty easily, but took another 3 hours and much persistence to get "Gold". For the first 2 hours or so I was trying to get max speed then brake late into the first left turn to overtake 12th. This is a mistake though, and the trick here is to try and maintain high speed through a turn [ and exiting ] as the V-Dub has such awful acceleration. This will help you overtake cars 2nd - 4th when you come around again to the first left turn on the 2nd lap, and I got 1st around Gambon .!

@PSNFodder007 I hit the brakes just before shunting them. it was getting me disqualified a lot. this is a very frustrating mission. the lotus elise level is ridiculous too. i could barely get round the first corner the first 5 times i tried it, it's like driving on ice. i think the top gear guys are having a joke with us!
