Why I think Psychologists and Counselling Help is crap

All the institutions of this systme are geared to make us dependant, not to become independant, which our absolute dependance on money and a job and acting totally inhuman, but a subservant sort of neediness. they want you to take their drugs. Psychologists are a problem too. I have seen very good evidence against psychiatry but psychology evades much of it even though psychiatry itself was born out of psychology. Psychology always seems to be taking so many things about us too far. That's why the field is so messy today. The theories, speculations and research is as varied as the number of psychology practitioners themselves.

I live in the north east and am currently undergoing an asessment for AS which has taken AGES. And i mean ages. There is such huge gaps between my psychiatrist appointments that im not even sure if she can remember my name everytime i see her. My mother has had to ring up on several occacions to chase up appointments that were meant to be out within a few weeks, but months have passed by and i still have not heard anything. I cant believe you were told you would have to wait 9 months

Counselors and Psychologists must use a psychological theory to help you. They have to be professional and respectful of you too. It is like any other job. If that doesn't happen which is very common, then move on.

google "steer cbt autism"... is old and specific to ASC's, but i cannot find a more recent or relevant meta-study of the 'studies' that the UK government funded to push cbt as part of their current 'solution' for everything including frustrations people experience due to a new benefits system at odds against those minorities in the first place

I'm sorry you've experienced such a terrible situation, but I want to remind your viewers that your case is not the only one. Counseling helps a LOT of people. People like me who go on in their life for years dealing with issues in a self-destructive way sometimes need to find a way to vent their thoughts and emotions in a safe place and learn to deal with them.

The system stinks. But with more and more people losing their jobs more and more people will need to be counselled. Did you know the James Bulger Killers got top quality psychiatric help where as the Parents of the poor boy who was murdered by them got around 10-12 sessions then were told to get on with it. If i had my way they would not be alive. They knew what they were doing. But here I am asking for a little help and getting refused. It just goes to show bad guys get everything.

Aspergianstar2009 there is a significant difference between psychiatric care and psychological therapy. Psychiatrists are doctor's that work with the severely mentally unwell individuals, like Jamie Bulgers' killers, and try re-socialise them into society whereas psychological therapies are therapies which help individuals deal with emotional distress that is affecting their lives and therefore promote psychological growth and emotional stability.

I think we need to quit wasting so much money on war and borders and put it into citizen relief, but also people in other countries. I know it is hard when the government does weird stuff, but we can't give up faith in Europe. Than we lose all our allies but Japan and South America. We need to be friends with places that have colleges.
