I have a magpie too. I found it on the pavement beside a big avenue in Ankara when it was a baby. It had fallen from its nest. Now it is about 7 months old. I would like to free it in a forest. I don't know whether it will be able to survive, but I do not want it to live in captivity. I want to give it a chance to live a free life with a mate.
We only kept him in a cage the first week when we were away, but never after that. He was free to leave whenever he wanted. Our intention was not to keep him as a pet or anything like that. The 13th of July he dissepeared, and never returned. Sadly, we think he was eaten by a cat...
And he's getting more and more beautiful for every day! Now he's got quite a long tail, and it's even going to get longer! I will soon make another video of him, from today. :)
Beautiful birds and music.

I love magpies. Here in California we have magpies that are identical to this one, except they have yellow bills! :D

That's sad :( I hope he had a happy ending after all and made his way in the wild. Magpies are great birds.
