I think it is best to go with the minus/plus 3 years until you are 25, then minus/plus 5 years. If I am 21, I do not mind dating between 18 and 24 year olds. As I become 25, It is good to date between 20 and 30 year olds. If trying to date someone more than 10 years older than you, it makes a difference in perspective, time, maturity, and culture. It may not go so well.
Hey DEMCAD. I once heard that some cultures use a "half the age plus seven" scenario. So if a man is 20, that would put his romantic prospects between the ages of 17 and 26. Which seems pretty understandable, I think. Not too old or young for him. So at 27 that would put your amorous prospects to about 20/21 to 40 years old. Go get 'em champ.
My husband is ten years younger than I am, but I look very young and he is mature for his age. I think for a guy, if you're about 27 it's probably best to date someone between ages 20 and 40. Very good points about racism and affirmative action. Something people ofthen forget is that people of different origins have different cultures and other differences. Mixed relationships are getting to be quite normal in London. Mainly between black and white the race distinction issue will eventually dissappear. The negative focus is getting pushed on to Muslims. A lot of scapegoating going on but there is less mixing as couples so this may make for a new 'taking of sides'.
Here class has a lot to do with a lack of social mobility and that can cut across the races and make 'our' experience more similar than other classes whatever their race.

I heard once of a calculation for when older men married younger woman how young was reasonable. I think it was half the man's age plus seven. eg 20 -17, 40 - 27, 50 -33. There is a fact about fecundity which makes it possible for older men to marry later and still raise a family.
If the couple are relatively young enough or having children is not thought a priority then I see no reason to argue against the age difference being reversed.

As you get older, you'll find that relationships are not just about sex. So not 21, 18, or 45 for the very reasons I said. It should be based somewhat on your own age. I wouldn't suggest that a 55 year old start going out with an 18 year old. It's not that it's illegal, but I just don't think it's likely to work out. You want someone within 10 years of your age if they're younger, and around 5 years if their older.

Yet, alot of the higher paying executive jobs, office, middle management positions had a disproportionate amount of Black people. I.E. 3 black managers in a 80 manager firm. The truth of the matter is that blacks were traditionally looked over for these positions and still are statistically. Its fucked up but it fights that" who you know" factor in the job market.

Don't sweat the Tyler Perry comment, we know you are not like that. I like to see the underdog win, it's more of a challenge. In his case, he was the underdog, as you said. And, moving to another subject, the "recovery" the media is pepping us all up about, is based on nothing really. I am expecting to see the stock market make another fake move up, and then back down again. Let's see what happens.

As for dating I am a 33 male who is with a 47yo lady. When I was 17 I was with a 26yo. I always have been attracted too the older ladies.
I honestly cannot stand the youth, they are too naive and fickle for my taste, not to say that SOME older people cannot be this way.
As far as youngest, I'd say no more than 15-16 years or legal age whichever comes first. Going beyond that is a bit strange.

I'm married so.... If I were to date I would probably stick within 5 years of my age. To me ladies younger than that seem way to young and I would feel like a dirty old man robbing the cradle. Ladies more than 5 years older than me, make me think cob webs and tend to be set in their ways. My mom and dad were way different than I. Mom married a man that was younger than my older brother. And dad married a woman half his age. Both marriages ended in divorce after a few years.

I'm white too and I've found that pretty much all of the problems I've encountered during my life could have been avoided if only I made a different decision. I only have myself to blame for my problems. I call it personal responsiblity, it's a novel idea, I wonder if it will catch on.

i agree with you on affirmative action. i don't think there should even be a place to check male/female or for your race. getting a job should be based on your experience/qualifications.
as far as dating. i say date what makes you happy (as long as they are legal). i am 36 and married but if i was not i would be looking at 25-40. in my experience though if you date further than 10yrs back you really gotta step up to the plate and get past your set-in ways lol. making each other :) helps alot !

I think in some US states the youngest is 14. The oldest should be about 55 since after that a woman's body falls apart basically. Go for it demcad!
