not bad but i promise you go and test out and try to pre tight or pre anything and they will boot you before you start ( in the academy they drill you to undo all the straps then and on the job) and the reason being is that the next person that throws the SCBA isnt going to be your size. so when he has to fight the straps and readjust is that much less time you have lost by no means am i cutting you down just some advice from a TX Fire Fighter god bless and good luck
@txmaverick713 Really? I recently graduated my state's fire academy for FF1/FF2/HAZMAT Ops.. was there for 3 months. Was tested on this very same drill. Did it the same way. Was not booted out. If you are working a shift at a station, you should be setting your gear up so its ready for use FOR YOU. That is part of your responsibility. After your shift, put everything back how it needs to be, but I see nothing wrong with pre-tightening if that's how someone prefers their gear set.
Ya you may be able to do that for FF1 practical but it is totally not realistic to real life cause you wouldnt pretighten your straps while your on duty so ya in a way it is cheating.
@Ahawkins2414 did anyone ever say this video was meant to simulate a "real-to-life" scenario? Is the FF1 timed SCBA skillsheet even true to life? This video is only simulating that skill sheet. We've been over this discussion countless times on this video. If you would like to add something new and constructive, feel free. Otherwise, read previous comments. Also, if I was on duty and had my own pack, I would adjust my pack to suit ME every day when I started my shift. Why not?
Pre-tightening of straps eliminates a variable that cannot be controlled. This video is showing the process of the timed test if you were to do it for FF1 practicals. Pre-tightening of straps is allowed during the test for FF1. If you feel it is cheating, you can prove me wrong. I also challenge anyone to beat this time doing it the very same way (if pre-tightening straps makes it so much easier, it should be quite a simple feat to accomplish)
@IncoherentMouth they let you pretighten your straps, what state do you live in, all the firefighters i know here in wi were allowed to pretighten their straps
@heatwave2012 so are you nullifying your original post complaining about how the straps were pre-tightened and saying that it's legitimate now? Which is it? I was saying that pre-tightening straps is legal for FF1 practicals in response to you saying its cheating. Now you are saying its fine? We are Washington State firefighters, to answer your question. You could have found that out by reading the description of this video.
@SKWASIGROCH lol it was a joke anyway, but I dont want dense people like you to have to think too hard about whats real and whats not so I figured it was better to just skip that whole step for ya... You're welcome.
Of course shit happens u can't controol. I think ur refering to flash over... That's why u try to read smoke contditions .squating gets u just as low and u stay off ur knees.. It's pretty sweet
@SKWASIGROCH oh man.. im taking my turnouts back cause they put big ass kneepads in them and i cant even use them... what a bunch of bullshit that is - assholes!... whats the point? i dunno... waste of money and resources i spose... So im gonna make a shopping list for my department.. Mask pouches that are on my harness, and glove straps too. That will solve everything. Oh wait. No money.
@SKWASIGROCH hey feel free to donate any of your setup to our department and ill film a throw on just like you with my mask right there on my titty and my gloves too.. then I can be legit. and I'll stand up. promise. k? :) lol
@SKWASIGROCH Too deep? dude crap happens all the time that you cannot control... Someone opens a door or busts the wrong window and flames take off in ways that you cant imagine ahead of time. Dude if it was really like you make it seem, why do so many firefighters die from crap like that? Read about the dudes that got cooked alive, yet the guys that were ducking had the flames go over them instead- Staying low makes a difference regardless what you think. But whatever man.
@SKWASIGROCH Lol im not looking for anyones approval, let alone yours... Im just trying to make sense of your argument here... Your complaints about what we have done or didn't do make little sense in the fact that its already been stated its not for practical purposes... I mean crap dude- you act like you did it just the way you would have for a real fire, yet would you seriously go into a fire the way that you suited up?... Would you be confident with that throw on you did?
"epitome" wow dude pull ur head out ur ass.. This is no mayberry fire department... Obvously with time u get better we did that 2 years ago I've deffantly gotten better...
If ur practicing for a ff1 cert that's cool start practicing with ur shit on like ur getting off the truck mr fire slayer.... I don't have time like u to film my self doing push ups and walking around the station with a fog machine it's pretty cool u can climb down a goose neck though... that's weak.
Wow u get offended easy. So when u go to the fire ur gloves, face peice and helmet are all waiting for u at the door? That's nice hope fully some one doesn't accidently kick ur gloves away from u. Usually try to avoid being on ur knees unless u want glass nails ect... Ripping through ur tournouts
@SKWASIGROCH offended? no - again.. Since you can't seem to read from previous posts... this isn't to simulate a fire-scene throw on... This is practice for the state test for Firefighter 1. If you want to get so technical, do you take the tank off your truck, then lay it on the ground, then throw it on? or what? im confused.
@SKWASIGROCH I think I would rather get a nail or glass in my turnouts from crawling rather than a facefull of flame... Go read anything on interior attack procedures... almost every other word is "low" or a combination of "low" and "remain" to form the two "remain low".. I think you stay low and crawl more than you stand up, bud... maybe i dont know what im talking about. But you do it your way, i'll do it mine.
Wasn't the purpose of your video to encourage people to get faster times? Not to brag?... Yet when people get faster times, you gotta try to discredit their efforts? lol... I don't understand your objective or purpose... Feel free to enlighten me if you want.
@SKWASIGROCH by the way... how often are you NOT on your knees in a real fire, fruity pie?... You go into burning buildings standing up like a goon or what?... You like being up in that good stuff?... If i can suit up from my knees successfully and confine my movements, I would say thats a benefit to me incase of a tight quarters operation, wouldn't you say? you dont always have a football field to work in.. correct me if im wrong, LAFD.
