Sure, just compare a modern building designed to WITHSTAND large fires and not collapse like WTC7 to an 80's era building with no guidelines for preventing large fires and that was hit with massive amounts of steel debris travelling at terminal velocity, like WTC7.

@HedgieDiva Yeah, a tiny plane with low fuel travelling at a low 200 mph. And the fire only spread around half a floor. And the building is concrete and built with a net design. (resistant to fires and more structurally stable)

WTC was hit by a BIG plane at with LOTS of fuel, at 500 mph. The WTC was a tube-framed (just core and perimeter columns) STEEL tower, not fire-resistant.

Empire State Building is pretty much the opposite scenario as the WTC.

@MazJax I was in ny thats what I thought, ya know I really don't know its VERY possible that the impact like you said knocked out the support beam and the concrete core. ( the core turned to dust during the collapse) due to pancaked floors. I just don't see why the second didn't topple over.( Steel conducts heat) perhaps more concrete would have reduced damage. ( I just think we americans suck at structure building enough said.) I am not thinking its a fake attack ( just saying.)

@HedgieDiva The debris really hit the core as much, it hit the outer facade. The fires ate away at the core. The fires caused a critical column in the east to fail which started the progressive collapse. This can be proven because of videos showing the penthouse (supported by the critical column) collapsing 10 seconds before the rest of the building fell.

The collapse was due to the poor design. The old WTC7 was built with severe budget cuts. But the new WTC is pretty much indestructible.

My guess - WTC 7 was the intended target of the hijacked plane that brave passengers forced to crash in Pennsylvania - so it was packed with explosives and ready to be demolished - but the plane that we would have thought caused it's collapse never came. They couldn't leave the explosives in WTC 7 to be found by investigators. So they planted a few fires in the building and triggered the demolition to destroy the evidence. Yet, I've been in on planning & building barns, cabins, garages, houses, tree-forts & their defensive weaponry(played rough as kids) outhouses & etc. Have some very good books on structural-loading & such. This all is true- oh, also liked 2 blow things up w/my friends, when I was a kid; Lived in an industrial city- friends' dad had farmland for 'experiments'... WTC is just plain fucked-up.

... it didn't collaspe because no 1 crashed a fuggin DC10passenger jet carrying (+-)28,000kilos of jp4 fuel n2 it plus, this buildings' load-bearing geometries r quite different! The "Towers" were a tubular design. The interior & exterior load columns mathmatics were near = @ ANY lateral plane through the design- whether just above the lobby or @ the apex! AND the collasping Tower sliced almost a full 3rd of Tower7 away at a ~30deg angle of attack fatally effecting 7's foundational load-streams!

Why wouldn't it still be standing? It's made out of concrete, which isn't affected like steel, however chunks of concrete did spall off of the building while it burned which is typical of concrete with rebar just under the concrete, the rebar gets hot, expands, and pushes the out side layer of concrete off.

@aredditor No mate, the sections which fell off from the Windsor Tower in Madrid were NOT merely steel. They were mostly concrete with steel rebar wire inside. The concrete started to spall, collapsed and the rebar is visible here: watch?v=_ywScL2dJKM

Notice that the pure iron support beams in the center DID not collapse, droop or sway.

@valereydyachuk What is seen in the vid you linked to me is the inner concrete structure. Sorry I can't be there to point with my finger to the obvious. Several steel structures have failed due to fire alone, which is why insulating steel is often required. A wing of Delft University failed due to fire alone. A bridge near San Francisco failed due to fire alone. A steel framed warehouse in England failed due to fire alone. Some beams in One Meridian fire failed, and several severely sagged.

@aredditor ...In this video, the upper section begins to collapse at 0:45. The lower section provides resistance during the WHOLE collapse. At 0:55, we can see that the lower section is still standing. You can see it standing to the left of the dust cloud. Look at the photo: Here we see the whole building is now burned completely. Whereas in the video, only the upper part had charred areas on it.

As to the steel framed warehouse in England I have this to say: It was no more than a SHACK. The steel beams which held the roof were paper thin and are in no way comparable to the THICK structural steel used in high rise buildings. One only needs to understand HEAT CAPACITY and THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY and everything will start to make perfect sense.....
