Has anyone noticed that after Belushi died, Danny started gaining weight? Poor guy, I know what it's like to lose someone you love and care about and clearly it affected Aykroyd physically aswell as emotionally. I'm not putting Dan down, I have alot of respect for him. RIP John
@ClassicRockTeen1995 When you get really upset you tend to eat a lot. To Dan, John was his brother, hence the name "Blues Brothers" When he died, he felt so lost without him and gained weight which is very understandable. He used to drink a lot to stop depression but that just made it worse but at least he knows he had a good time with John Belushi and he's in a nice place now, like he said in the sequel :)
Also Elwood adopts Buster in the sequel so he has someone else to love :)
Aykroyds joy whenever he plays Elwood jamming a blues tune is contagious. As great as John Belushi was, and as great as they were together, it was Dan who turned his own love of the blues into an act that provided a window for younger generations to appreciate it, and I think that he's often under appreciated for what he's done.
also helping bring recognition back to those R&b artists who did not get the recogniton they deserved or even decent recording contracts etc through bad deals etc.
Good Cover, But you Can tell Dan Knows that His " Elwood Blues Review" isn`t going over nearly as well as the Blues Brothers Did, It's showing in his performance..
Hence the future addition of Zee Blues and Mighty Mack (Jim Belushi and John Goodman) ... still not the same without Jake, but a better show with more than just Elwood onstage.

I recall reading some years ago how Belushi took Akroyd on road trip down south and introduced him to Southern musical traditions.
