Please start getting these movies right, the actors don't act like soldiers, they don't look like soldiers(hair cuts please),the 814th Tank Destroyer Battalion designator on the M-10 should be covered up,that unit never touched Korean soil. There are many little things a film maker can do to get it right, even on a small budget.I did a tour over there,my uncle fought over there before the "cease fire" at PMJ
The troops labeled it the "unknown war" because it was tauted as a police action. The Korean War of 1871 is the really the forgotten war when the U.S. attacked Korea! The 2d Korean War in 1950 was a real war touted in the newsreels as a police action, then calling it the forgotten war to de-emphasize our unpreparedness. Korea did nothing to deserve being divided. Japan was not divided. I served in Korea. In my lifetime I will never see a unified Korea. What a disgrace for a civilized world.
The Korean War (1950~1953) was really the 2nd Korean War. U.S. 19th century military intervention in Korea included the 1st American Korean War of 1871. The U.S. forces invaded Korea in June 1871 with the warships Monocacy and Palos, with a total crew of more than 1,000 sailors/marines. On June 10-11, 1871, they destroyed five forts and inflicted as many as 650 casualties on the defending Koreans. Korea declared war on the U.S. for the next 10 yrs.
lol it was ok except from what i hear from korean veterans is that it was very cold in korea so cold the ground would freeze and you couldent burry your dead had to stack tham all around
ya you should read the book "about face" or "soldier" might help you actually represent korea better, oh PS i served in korea for over a year so i know what the place looks like
thank you for your sevice. I know its not much, but i feel that people like you do not get enough appreciation and respect for what you did. After all, you are the reason why i have my freedoms that i take for granted every day. We need more people like you.
i was kind of hyped up back then...use to type to fast and was pretty bad at explaining things in words. More or less what I meant at the time, was korea was a rough war, like all wars are. but it was and is the forgotten war. nam being worse in since that they were treated far worse when they came home & pretty much everyone was against them being there.appose to korea,it wasnt quite as bad when they came home and they got a little more support from everyone back home.
That is what inspired the film, I think there are a few reasons for that,
-The Korean War was a compromise, so it is harder to add an anti-war, or pro-war message than Vietnam, or world war 2
-The Korean war is not quite as "glorious" as Vietnam (air cav, PBRs, drugs,Hippies, m16s ect.) or world war 2 (the great war) it just doesn't look quite as good on film
-The Korean war is still happening sort of (weapons testing artillery exchanges etc.)
This film from the trailor seems to be dull as ditch water...Should I make myself more informed and watch this art work so I can hold an expert opinion???

there are not many films about the korean war there are much more vietnam war movies

Too true! That's what inspired the film - the lack of coverage and knowledge.

becaus nam rules korea was bad but not as bad as nam

Possibly one of the most ignorant comments I've ever seen on youtube. "Nam rules?" Are you fucking high?

lmao.....might have been at the time..... but doubt it....although i dont see how its ignorant.dont even remember the reason for saying it.

Sorry. You came off as an moronic adolescent. "becaus nam rules korea was bad but not as bad as nam"
Sounds like a very informed, educated opinion on the issue.

@ahindat2 Check out either "Taegukgi" or "Welcome to Dongmakgol." I believe you'll enjoy both films about the Korean War.

Coolness. I knew Stephen Kilcullen when he lived in Norfolk. He and my older brother were friends. It's odd seeing him again after over 12 years.
