Gobbels was a better dad than mine. Or maybe that was just the for film part. Other Nazi's seemed to be good dads too, taking their kids swimming in an era where few dads did that. According to the Downfall movie they died humanely, sedation then Cyanide while asleep, not like Susan Powells ex hacking up the boys then explosion.

Interesting. Many people who deny the war and are such Jew haters, what do they do to justify how the Nazis systematically wiped out THEIR OWN children in such a barbaric way? This makes me feel sick.

I was a British soldier in the immediate post war period serving with the Military Police in Duesseldorf as an interpreter. I can assure you that any British soldier that assaulted a German civilian would have been very severely dealt with by the military authorities. It is beyond dispute that Russian soldiers with their officers approval did indeed rape women but there is no evidence whatsoever that they assaulted children - only stories. The truth is not negotiable.

There was no good outcome for these poor children. They would have been tortured or killed if the Russians had got to them, and even if they survived the Russian takeover, they would have lived the rest of their lives in the shadow of their Nazi father and would have been universally hated for something they had nothing to do with.

You may or may be not correct, it's difficult to say. I just found out about a nurse of these kids in the bunker I didn't even know about. "Erna Flegel-From January 1943 until the end of World War II, Flegel served in that capacity for Hitler's entourage and during the Battle of Berlin. She is believed to have been in Hitler's bunker when he committed suicide. Upon the Soviet capture of Berlin, Soviet troops advised her to remain in the bunker complex where it was safer." Lived till Feb 2006

Pretty amazing vid, thanx for the upload. I've seen more than one account that says Magda Goebbels sat down and played a card game called "patience" (akin to solitaire) after murdering her children. It's depicted in the movie "Downfall". Downfall is posted on YouTube and if anyone hasn't seen it, it's a fabulous movie.

Aside from the absolute horror of murdering your own children, and especially resorting to violence against Helga, I often wonder what would have happened to these beautiful children had they survived the war. If the Russians captured them, the girls would have been raped before being murdered and Helmut would have been tortured in other ways. The Russians raped thousands after the fall of Berlin, so they would have treated them the same.

@MrClassicDoctorWho You make a very valid point. The children could have been hidden for their entire lives. As I recall, one officer (I forget who) offered to take them away when he learned of their fate, but he was later captured. It's so hard to say what would have happened only if they were spared. By the way, your video and script are excellent. Thank you for posting this historic video.

@luv2aptnz Russian soldiers did indeed rape thousands of women in Berlin there is no evidence to support the idea that they raped or killed children - none at all. I was a British soldier in Germany in 1945 to 1953 I became firm friends with Lothar Goebbels one of the Goebbles childen - the son of Hans Goebbels (Josephs brother) He was a law student at Bonn University. He later committed suicide because no-one would employ him because of his name. He had no Nazi views at all!

@eddie123e Thanks for this interesting but sad information. There's so little information published about the relatives of Nazi probably because they don't want anyone to know who they are. Hitler's relatives live under assumed names so they can live a normal life. It's a shame Lothar didn't change his name, maybe he'd be alive today.

Yes your right but as you can see the russians laid all there bodies out right outside the bunker entrance at 4:10 how do we know they didnt rape there dead bodies however unlikely it is they were pretty sick and crazy.

The fact that Magda named all of her children after Hitler by giving them names beginning with H reveals her stupidity. There are other Goebbels children not mentioned here. Lothar Goebbels son of Joseph's brother Hans was a good friend of mine while he was studying law at Bonn. He died in 1953. He was not murdered by his parents. He committed suiced because of his name. Lothar like his cousins, was a fine person and a good friend who did not deserve to die.but no German would employ him.

@fangthefeared I know people who are highly intelligent but who sometimes behave in a very irrational and extremely stupid way. I know that her husband Joseph was a very intelligent man - the whole Goebbels clan were all intellectually very bright. My friend Lothar Goebbels was was extremely bright yet he commmitted suicide. I find it hard to excuse killing the children - I think they believed their own propaganda about the Russians, the majority of whom at that time really were illiterate..

@eddie123e The Goebbels children were not named after Hitler. Magda had another child before Hitler came to power and his name also started with 'H.' It was actually the idea of her first husband who had two other children both with names beginning with 'H.' She just carried it on in her second marriage.

@loser33user Magda was a complex character. She was apparently very hurt by her husband's many infidelities. It does seem likely that she was very fixated on Hitler whatever the origin of her having named all her children with the letter H. Dr J Goebbels was clearly a very clever man. Many of the propaganda terms he thought up such as as 'revenge weapons' and 'terror bombing' are still popular with the many freaks that infest Youtube sites.

the white clothing is called "burial clothes".

Magda often made her children wear the white clothing.

@GSHelga Because in Germany it is the colour of innocence and common for 'good' clothes of women and children. It means these clothes are fresh and not for a working day but for a birthday or so. Not as in Japan were sadness is the thought of this.

Magda could have prevent the danger of her children get captured by the red army if she hadn't refused to let the children been brought from Berlin. She even brought them to Berlin to be at the Führers side (The children said Goddbye to the Nanny to 'go to Onkel Führer').

There were several planes and several people as Albert Speer who begged to be allowed to bring the children out to Bavaria. Nothing would have harm the children, but their mother did.
