after saving it on my hard drive (saved it to my desktop), it automatically asked me to insert a blank dvd to where it copied it to. It did not prompt to use nero, but asked for a blank dvd which i inserted. and the dvd played well just like any dvd. :)

Go to XILISOFT DVD CREATOR and you just put any movie in this and burn-it to play on any home dvd - player....playstation.....x-bo­x........honestly this is the longest way useing nero just is rotten compared to this wee diamond.

dvd shrink doesnt remove macro copy guard , DVD shrink just compresses a movie from a duel layer dvd 9 to fit on a single layer dvd 5 and then makes it into a ISO file

when i import the shrinked video into nero, it doesn't keep the menus or anything. just looks like a bunch of clips put together. is there a way to fix this so the dvd menu and everything will be burned onto the dvd disc?

It works up to a point but the burned dvd's have all the scenes out of order so are unwatchable anyway. Anyone know a solution to this?

DBDDDDSHRINK is for older movies.

DVDFAB will rip AVATAR and ALICE IN WONDERLAND - two of the most encrypted I have seen in some time - and you can burn the VIDEO_TS files after that to make your DVD,

Total time about an hour and it's easier than the other applications I have seen.

DVDFAB is free for 30 days for trial but you can buy it after that and it gives you upgrades - even if you are still evaluating it. It does HD movies as well.

@ezonONE I don't know alot about mac's but I'd figure since you it doesn't read dvd's then you wouldn't be able too unless you had a external dvd player and also the programs installed on your mac probably won't allow you to copy most dvd's with protection on them.

you can download anydvd and clonedvd they are free for 21 days. DVDshrink no longer works with the new copyright encoding. It can still be used on the older DVD's though.

@joelescobedo918 Before you use Shrink download a program called DVD43, its free and it takes away the copyright for you then if you do whatever you were doing on Shrink it shouldn't say that message anymore.

good tutorial thnx for the upload. But i have a question, does this burn as an .ISO file? I want to back up my dvds with the menus, extras, captions, languages etc I have software that will burn ISO on to a blank dvd (Roxio) but it refuses to extract copyrighted .ISO.

I'm not for sure what the file extension is but it does save your menu screen and extras and languages but on the right side of DVD Shrink you will see compression settings.. I'll usually take off spanish from the dvd to save a few mins burning it but besides that when you copy the dvd it will be just like the original.

@randyclar747 I had nero on a disk, maybe try a different program that is free if the one I used isn't.. main thing is removing the copyright protection which dvd shrink does 9/10 times as some dvd's have more complex copyright protection.

now im using winx dvd ripper and that seems to work better for backing up the dvd, i just cant seem to burn it to a format that my xbox 360 will read. what is a good format to burn it to? and a good program to use to burn it? (ive been trying it with the old windows media player)
