  • fanboy.......

    ?

  • "But there is one product that Steve Jobs did design himself.. and that is Apple, the Company, since his return" ... Brilliantly put

  • "They've had a pretty good run… I don't take any credit for it"

Er… you think you need to make that disclaimer the John?!

  • Do anyone have the 2011 speech?

  • @apetresc Geez... it was a joke!

  • Please, just drink the water.

  • Toujours une fin abrupte avec Gruber, mais quelle finesse dans son analyse. Quelle clairvoyance.

  • oh man..this is so much a fanboy video! John, please grow up!

  • lol

    "professionally"

    Retard.

  • Looking at this a year on. For 'Palm' read 'Windows Phone 7'.

  • I lasted about 12 mins before I just can't take this idiot talking any more. It's one thing to enjoy the products that apple make but then people like this take it to a whole new cult like level.

They scour around endlessly trying to find the most minute details as to why apple are 'superior' to others, when people on the other side of the fence couldn't care less. It seems like the apple crowd always feel they need to justify themselves.

  • @RobFrancis The intro is a little off-topic, but this video is actually about the 10 things that Apple is not doing well. And, it's a well-thought-out list so if you're interested in being able to deliver valid criticisms of Apple to people who are Apple fans, this is a good video to watch.

  • On the issue of two platforms, it's not a question of whether Apple is going to pull it off, it's a question of market readiness. This is so obviously based on timing, his points seem to fall down. Apple is a different company today, & the world has moved on, not least in our acceptance that we have a choice, & the realisation that Apple is the company giving us that choice.

Mobile.me is obviously Apple's way to learn the cloud.

He's way over optimistic about Palm. It's dead in HP's care.

  • The last point about credits is also totally redundant. When a movie wraps, all those who worked on it are redundant. So the analogy falls at the first hurdle.

When an application is released, it's just one stage in a continuous development process. One thing Steve Jobs has learned for sure over the past 30 years, is that good internal security is a vital part of success. Why make it easy for the competitors?

Having said that, he speaks well. I just wish he had better lateral thinking skills.

  • this guys an apple homer lol

  • He is a god damn fanboy...

  • @muzvit If it wasn't for fanboys, you wouldn't be using computers

  • @iTechBuddy Haha. What is that supposed to mean? Do you think that computer technology only is here, as some people only think that "Apple" is the right sort of PC to use? You muyst be out of your bloody mind, this is exacly the sort of mindflow that decreases the speed of which computers software aswell as hardware evolve...

    Try again buddy.

  • @muzvit Apple made the first computers with mice, for example, and they have built this fantastic thing, Mac OS X. They introduced the iPhone, a REAL smartphone and the revolutionary iPad tablet, which seems to be causing some troubles in the notebook market and changing many things...

  • @iTechBuddy You are indeed a fool. You speak of one company out of millions of computer companies all over the globe. If you do not wish for competition, you at just as stupid as John Gruber. Hell, i even say stupdier - cause he can actually proclaim some "relativly" intresting issues of the way that Apple wants the future of computer technology to go.

  • @muzvit I'm not going to take this discussion too far, (that would be stupid as you would say) from my part

Everyone has their opnion, let's see who is better

  • @muzvit Now kids, this is an example of what will happen to you if you use the wrong computer: You'll just end up illiterate, or dumb, if you like. muzvit here bought a PC, actually he stole it, but he used it, and now he can't spell or type a coherent sentence. Yep, he's a dipshit, a fucktard, an epic fail.

  • @G58

So you are implying that using a PC makes you ignorant, or that only ignorant people use PC's and that apple users are the contrary.

This speaks VOLUMES of just how ignorant you have proven yourself to be.

  • @Godraideen It's really hard to say. What makes you misuse apostrophes and type semi literate sentences? Did you always do it? Or did you start doing it after you started using a PC? Accusing someone of being ignorant, after writing such drivel, really is a huge risk. You might cause us to assume you're really rather stupid yourself.

  • @G58 Typo error is typo error. Attempting to presume something that does not exist only causes you assume conclusions that have to basis or relevance of the truth.

Also, shooting the messenger goes on to prove what said messenger was attempting to deliver. Thank you.

  • @Godraideen I's only a typo if you intended, or knew how, to type the word correctly. Your other errors here are: "relevance of the truth" - it's relevance TO the truth. And it should be: causes you TO assume conclusions, not "causes you assume conclusions". If English isn't your first language, please excuse my pedantic responses. If not, thank you for proving my point so well.

  • the word you're looking for is "ad hominem"

  • If you like Gruber, this is classic stuff. If you don't, you'll probably hate this.

  • "The proof will be in the pudding". The actual phrase is: The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

  • 27:00 - iphone updates don't take 2 weeks for app approval in my experience - 2 days is typical now for my music apps.

  • Brilliant analysis

  • Spot on in my book. Particularly the analysis of Hulu and the way TV and Movies are consumed. Apple should pay close attention to John's comments and the Movie and TV execs even more.

  • Computers: I think the future will be more of a HAL interface.

  • MacGruber!

  • Nice job Gruber. I really enjoyed it.

  • @amadeopuzzo

    Why do you say that?

    -

  • Some people seem to think that somebody who has an opinion and can express it in a straightforward and direct manner is arrogant. /shrug.

  • Apple will buy a telecom or become one. The iTunes Store will be renamed to something that describes all that they offer and music will not be downloadable. Their music store will offer cloud-app like streaming music. You won't have to download music, it will be accessible anywhere via subscription built into the iPhone/iPads price. Mark my text.

  • No other good movies in 1939 besides Snow White? Are you kidding me? You should check out another show from that year, another kids' film by the name of "The Wizard of Freaking Oz." Also "Gone With The Wind." Also "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington." Also "The Women. 1939 of all years, sheesh.

  • You're sorry AND wrong!

  • Just great, just great ...

  • I think John should do more speaking engagements. His levelheadedness and insight would be well-recieved in many venues.

  • Nice slides.

  • Excellent as usual. Enjoyed every second of it. Nice font and color choice for the slides, too.

  • Long, scripted, but perfectly true and really well spoken.

  • Artist should get to sign their work. Bravo!

  • ha ha yeah, it went a lot better once I started forwarding through his "presentation". lol It was still a great perspective, but a little on the long-winded side.

  • So. . . turn it off, perhaps?

  • Awesome presentation I really enjoyed it! I agree with alot of what you had to say and yes Apple should buy Dropbox.

    5/5

    ~fin~

  • Only one problem with what he spoke of Mobile Me.. When you are not on mac not necessarily everyone has a iphone at least not me.. so naturally I use web apps. moreover, what if I am using my friends mac/pc and want to access my contacts? user of MM since .mac and I still prefer iDisk over Dropbox..
