  • @NinetiesYouth they broke up about a year ago after 10 years together so your wording "new music" is entirely incorrect.

  • @Buckeyed325 still too new, I don't know what the hell happened to music.

  • @NinetiesYouth quit hatin. not all new music sucks. hey if you dont like it, the dont listen to it!

  • They Are So Cute :3

I Love Them And I Only Just Started Listening To Them As A Music Class Thing.

  • Is this a Captain Beefheart cover???

  • *looks at side boob* very nice shot 0:54 *look at face* OHHHH BAD SHOT.

  • @redhotchilipepperite umm u mite be thinking of there cover of "stop breaking down" because the melody of the vocals are a little similar.

or u mite be thinking of "top yourself" by the raconteurs which is Jack White's other band. those are the only songs i can think of.. i hope i helped u out. thats the worse wen that happens tho and then it drives u nuts to figure out wut it was

  • what other white stripes (<- i think) song does this sound like? bugging me all day

  • this as very much the alure of robert johnson...i like it

  • crap

  • @dwankan1

    dumbass

  • Pretty damn good,

  • R.I.P white stripes ='(

  • The other two Beefheart covers the White Stripes did were OK. This, I'm afraid, sucks.

  • does the song really end like this? it sounds abrupt...

i've tried to look for another videos os this song alone (the WS cover) but this seems like the only one.

  • It doesn't sound different enough from the original to be an interesting cover. I like The White Stripes, though.

  • @locodorado Delta sound, punk voice, great band.

  • @BirdL762 listen to beefheart my friend, your in for a shock!

  • this sounds like shit.

  • Comment removed

  • Jeez..........As if I needed another reason to love WS, covering the good Captain, that's damn sweet........

  • I still say theyre descended from Gypsies.

  • oh shit !!

the first picture is f ing amazing !!!

  • 劣等的中国猪!

  • just found a new respect for the white stripes

  • I think the white stripes specifically chose some of beefheart's worst songs to cover, well not this one, or ashtray heart, those are both good.

  • very nice cover as was ashtray heart and party........

  • A great cover true to the original - I particularly like the section from about 51 secs to 56.....nice

  • Who the hell is Guy Fox?

    Guy Fawkes?

  • he led the gunpowder tression on the 12th? i think it was of november

  • @cornyking1992 november the 5th shall always be remembered -V

  • @butheadVSbevus great

i hate that the gunpowder tresion will only be rememberd by the english and fanboys

  • @cornyking1992 blah blah blah I'm English I'm so much bettter than you because of my crappy buildings and my shitty chocolate why don't you get over yourself and get to the real issue you CCTV promoting monarchist . that's freedom I don't know what V or your closed mind knows about that but I'll kick your ass in the snow barefoot anyday you lowsy brit I love the BBC by the way but I obviously I disagree with your government and no amount of unlearned experience can take that away not to some ...

  • @butheadVSbevus bloody bastards who let terrorist in our country on christmas you know your as bad as the french not helping us fight terrorism . I'm sorry if you don't know what true freedom is just conceitedness but living for justice means something a little more than my country is better than you . Just think for a second and you will find Blair holding Bush's leash.

  • @butheadVSbevus

where did all this come from?

i was talking about protecting history

i dont care about politics and freedom to me is after a hard days work of the bullshit i put up with i listen to music maybe do some crappy drawings and talk to girls oh and by the way you have to be the close minded one because i was greatful to you for the info i also left out people who like history mistake on my part) but you come out of no where saying a bunch of strange things no wonder no one likes us

  • @butheadVSbevus v for vendetas fucking gay

  • 0:36 - he looks like V for Vendetta

  • that would be guy fox

  • I know......... dude. ;-)

  • good job

  • I like how the White Stripes mimic that sort of discordant, chaotic style that Beefheart trademarked.

  • Sounds very much like a Robert Johnson rendition, but then, was the Cap'n trying to get at that when he made Trout Mask?!?!?

One thing we do know about Vliet is that he really dug Delta Blues.

  • got that ball and biscuit feel

  • meg is actually attractive at :39

  • I love them both, the original form the genius Captain, and this cover!

  • Reminds me of Robert Johnson.

  • who is this ^

  • he was a blues guitarist who was i think the first member of Club 27. Look him up.

  • Not bad as a hip reference to Beefheart, but their cover of Ashtray Heart is actually pretty damn good.

  • I actually prefer this song though it's kinda pointless to cover Beefheart as anything will fall short. But it's good that they exposed younger kids to the good Captain!!

  • not bad. still 4 a great "cowpunk" version of the Beefheart classic visit my channel to listen to the Primevals' take on it...

  • Beefheart is better!!!

  • Not bad but if I want Beefheart, I'll go to the source.

  • @Fetrey well you gotta admit atleast this is a good cover and atleast the white stripes are covering an almost forgotten musician

  • @Fetrey I feel you, but I think that is the point. I can't say what is going on in Jack white's mind but he respects the roots of music and he is a big fan of Beefheart, I think it's more of a tribute and pointing the way for his fans that don't know Beefheart to go check him out. What really breaks my heart/makes me wonder if people have F'in ears though, are the comments that say White's versions are better. Ouch! The Tom Waits Mule Variations I found to be the bad version of copying...

  • OK, I obviously agree..

I just said that I'm a little dissapointed with this (a little) more melodious version

  • Not bad.. But too melodious, as compared with Beefheart's original

  • Hey, quit comparing. The aim of a cover isn't to create an exact copy of the origional, otherwise there'd be no point.

  • @theevilplatypus EXACTLY! It's so pointless when covers are too much like the original. I try to think of covers as an entirely different song because that's what good covers are.

  • they do this song justice.

  • i like the pic at 56 secs

  • Yeah Meg is like stacked, man.

  • Comment removed

  • Great post! Thank you!

  • yeah!! all robert johnson style!! :]

  • You're missing the point, billydumont.

  • are you talking about the stipes or beefheart. if you're talking about beefhaert than you haven't actually listened to his music

  • Thas there people is BLUES! Someone get John Mayer over here to listen lol. Seriously though, great little bit of Delta Blues right there, very authentic sounding. The white stripes I like, but I think the racontuers are even better, still if he can do both that would be great!

  • Really like this version of Don's classic "lo-fi" impro. Jack's knowledge and understanding of the Blues is immense - and here it shines through, takin us back to the field holler!

  • 0:54 no braw

  • 54 no braw lol

  • once again captain beefheart

  • i love people's attitude of "i love the poor sound quality, it gives it soul" lol lol lol grab some vinyls and scratch the fuck out of them to give them more "soul" lol i'll tell why this sounds "cool" really expensive guitars, pedals, amps, drums through shitty recording devices = a raw sound. man, no wonder musicianship's goin down the shitter. too many spoiled brats with amazing equipment that makes any chord sound like magic.

  • Jack didn't even own any expensive guitars at the time of this recording, it is more than likely being played on his old Kay or Harmony which was sold at sears. I am willing to bet the gear they were using to record is way more valuable than his guitar, and still not as good as all the crazy digital shit we have to use now a days. If anything it sounds eclectic because of the mic being used, Jack has one hell of a collection of mics.

  • I wouldnt say you would need to scratch vinyl to give it "soul". It has a fuller sound on its own. By stracthing it, you risk ruining it.

  • It doesn't really matter about the guitar, its more about the pedal systems and amps.

  • sugarashes, eclectic is definitely not the word you want

  • Jack looks like Beefheart with the goatee. Glad that they covered this, but they should try something challenging, like "When Big Joan Sets Up," or "Orange Claw Hammer".

  • they were so innovative in the beginning, its not that they're bad now, its just I liked them so much better doing beefheart covers and raw little bluesy numbers.

  • There is no overdrive here. Just slide guitar and his voice.

And I like the rhythm .

  • goddamn, do the white stripes have to cover every song I like?

  • it's aight... shitty rhythm though. & dont giime any shit about jack having too much soul to play better, cause there aint no soul anywhere on this track, just overdrive & noise... sad people think it passes for soul...

  • it only sounds like that cos of the way it was recorded, if you knew anything about engeneering then you would look past the sound quality and indeed "feel the soul"...

  • It sounds like "stop breaking down" :p

  • hey do you know where they sell Blackpool lights? Ebay?

  • yes

  • I saw a copy of one in Borders, though I'm not sure if they still have it.. Hope that helps

  • I agree. I don't know why they wanted to cover these songs if they weren't going to do a good job.

  • These White Stripes fans are fucken nobs...

They don't wanna know about Beefheart, and they can kiss my fucken arse!!!

  • i'm a white stripes fan & I love Trout Mask Replica- arse kissing? no thanx!!! :)

  • yeah they do you fucking idiot, what a sweeping generalization. go to hell.

  • makes me wanna do chicken dance

    LOL

I think its time to stop when you feel the need to do the chicken dance to the white stripes...O.o

    better get out the vodka

  • lol it makes me wanna do the chicken dance 2 lol IDK Y! but i luv Beefheart!

  • yyyyyyyyyeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaahhh m8

  • Beefheart rules.

  • this guitar bit is an exact replica of a robert johnson song that i cant remember off the top of my head. its a classic. blues is the business.

  • where do you get this cd? i though i knew all of them, but i keep hearing about thease other ones can someone tell me all there cd"

  • @whitEstripEdElephant hotel yorba is on an album. white blood cells

  • it's very much below the original.

  • ur missing his taste 4 rolling stones, led zepillen, robert johnson, adn bob dylan. DAYUM boy can do the blues and HARDCORE-BAD-ASS rock!

  • Jack has great taste: from Beefheart to Blind Willie McTell. 1st time I see the Stripes, as openers for S-K, I thought this is the first band I've ever seen who could cover Beefheart. They understand his music.

  • This is so fucking strange...I was listening to trout mask and thought to myself - "I could see Jack White doing a cover of this song" - apparently, he did (?)Strange

  • W00t love this song

  • In San Francisco Olympic torch furor this week we sang:

I don't want to slug this China thug.

  • You youngters should listen to the original on the album Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart. Pleace don't complain about the quality of the sound anymore. Than you don't understand the concept!

  • Amen to that. Not to forget that Trout Mask Replica was one of the top 100 albums of the 60s.

  • Technically its "then you don't" not than.

And I know a lot of people I know will listen to a song the White STripes have covered and then learn its a cover and go find the original. One of the reasons Im a Blind Willie McTell fan.

  • Thanx for the correction.

The music of Blind Willie McTell is great!

I know him because of the song Bob Dylan wrote about him. Bob appears to be a fan of McTell also.

  • i'm 15 and i love beefheart.

i also enjoy "poor" sound quality, i think it gives more atmosphere to the music.

  • EXACTLY HOW I FEEL

  • The bad quality gives the song that rough texture.

  • cool check out the origanal from the captain on my page lol 5'5

  • It's Muddywatersian this version :D

ow, I love low-fi. in my opinion the original are excellent, not to be coverized :P

  • Thank you, this is bloody amazing!!!!

  • I wanna kill nananan my china pig

I wish I had this song with better sound quality ;(

  • Pretty sure it is "I don't wanna kill, my china pig."

  • Bloody fantastic!!!

    Sounds really great!!!

Just what I've been looking for!!!

  • Holy shit this is brilliant! Thanks for uploading! Where the hell did you get this from?! :-)

  • yheah i dl this too i fink its when he was with The Upholsters.

  • Thanks, love, for adding this. <3
