  • I saw this band in Leicester in about 1975. Still sounds good today.

  • Doug is so laid back, it's unbelievable :)

  • This song never lets me down :-)

  • CAMEL forever..!!..this is the best song in the world..!

  • opeth paid a tribute......mikael is a big fan of andrew latimar.....so that's how he showed respect to latimar.....

  • oh the world is so ugly without it... thanks for the understanding...

  • wow This better that the Opeth version, thought I Love Opeth, I have to admit that prog rock bands are better...

  • Info: Never Let Go is a live album by the progressive rock band Camel released in 1993. It was recorded in Enschede, Holland, September 5, 1992.

  • Opeth doesnt bring me here!.

  • Camel is the beast of prog.Believe it or not.

  • oh this is beautiful! :)

  • Amazing mellotron sounds coming out of that organ!

  • @Hufftalbot hahahaha this is the original recording with a video, they are not really playing , it´s the same.

  • Why can't they play this on the radio??????

  • @1012egg because the radio only plays crap!

  • É isso, bom demais alô Miguel o CAMEL é unica coisa boa do hotel 3 coraçoes. Pra aguentar só ouvindo camel e com 3 corações no peito.

  • @gulobru Um hotel brasileiro que toca Camel?

  • sempre bom ouvir camel Nilson no litoral SP

  • Live footage set to studio recording. Shame...

  • Terrific, tight, and the most melodic of the British 70's prog-rock bands.

  • Amaziiing <3

  • Guildford never looked so good, and Camel have never been bettered!

  • Mikael explains the influence they got from camel in their album sheet... that its a tribute to camel

  • I don't know how comes a talented band like Camel doesn't recieve more views, I can see poor music and recieve million views, but anyway it is not about quantity, Respect Camel and Andy Latimer

It would be an honor if rockers like you guys visit

    myspace /aymankhalifa

    or facebook page facebook /aymankhalifamusic

this is my music, would like to know how do you see my music

Thanks guys and keep rockin \m/

  • Pete singing in a video!

  • Classic! There's something very 70's about a band with a long haired drummer without a shirt on thrashing away like a man posessed! Long live Camel - they could run rings around virtually any current bands

  • Both Camel and Opeth are amazing. <3'

    It's the Camel influence....

  • the first camel song i ever liked...and still do!

  • that's amazin. i close my eyes and i can fly

  • Allor1994 Opeth 1990 Camel 1971 Nerver let go Camel

  • Fantástico som. Quanto mais ouço, mais gosto!!

  • the intro of benighted and never let go are not exactly the same, but very similar

    its a tribute fellas..

  • lol idea o rno idea they didnt steal anything it happens alot in music but its not even the same there are songs that have had the same notes b4 though example viva lda crap by coldplay and if i could fly Satriani

  • lol its not the same at all u fuckint tools its different note arrangement!

  • To bad it was dubbed. Organ subsituting for mellotron and lead guitar substituing for accoustic.

  • To bad it was dubbed. Organ substuting for mellotron and lead guitar substituing for accoustic.

  • You were too optimistic, Pete....

But we all were, in those days.

  • @princecharmonpoirtoi

That´s so racist dude, it doasent matter the country they are, they are humans just like you or I, and they are expresing beautyfull music. Countries are llust a division of the place that each city may use.

  • @princecharmonpoirtoi its spelled learned. hahaha you cant spell.. so who is the jackass now. Andrew latimire destroys you in all aspects of musical talent.. so sit back down in your computer chair and do nothing for your world, but sit on your computer talking shit about people you could never hone up to.. you jealous?!?! fuck you.. you suck and people like you are the reason this society is so shitty.

  • @mfayfay If you are referring to this:

  • I think the word awesome is overused...

    Not here...

God Bless you Pete, Andy be well......

  • 4:55 gettin down lol

  • If you like this, check out Andy Ward's solo album, Sticking Around. See his website at andywardmusic

  • I remember seeing them at Walthamstow Technical College in '73 and thinking how incredibly talented they were. They were woefully underestimated compared to other top bands of the time.

The nostalgia still hits me when I see these original four group members.

It is a shame that the person who filmed "Never Let Go" mistook the ending and somehow missed the synchronisation when he switched the camera back on!

    Amazing video nevertheless.

    Thanks

  • Almost the same :)

  • Great song, great band

  • Comment removed

  • I woke up today with this song in my head and now i'm seeing this video and trying to play it with a guitar... Great song!

  • Comment removed

  • best progressive music ever

  • Real music played by great musicians.

  • the fact that more people don't listen to music like this, honestly makes me lose faith in humanity

  • Takes me back to the Winter of 1999 every time I hear this. Great band!

  • lan niye oturup izliyorsunuz, manyak mısınız nesiniz?

  • How could anyone ever think AC-DC is a good band?

  • wheres the toe?.Yuck Yuck, But really sounds good man, never heard of them

  • woah !....is this on official dvd ?. This is a real great one by CAMEL.Andy Latimer is a true talent.

  • Amazing! Long live the art rock!

  • One of my favorite Camel songs!

  • this is from then amazing.. camel rocks!! This song got me into them! Such an awesome group!

  • classic -a live record is still the best live album ever - equalled only by space ritual-Hawkwind in my opinion

  • This is an amazing track from an amazing band, amongst countless others, but why the hell was Camel so obscured and underrated compared to other 70`s UK prog rockers, i've asked myself this question for years now, its just such bloody good music.

  • @Akartulgor No kidden-your right on guy!

  • Check out the Opeth track - Benighted. The beginning is the same!

  • @Allor1994 pretty much

  • @Allor1994 Mikeal is a huge Camel fan.

  • @MrLosfuegos WOW... SERIOUSLY?! lol

  • @Allor1994 That was the idea..

  • το καλοκαιρι του 77 ακουσα πρωτη φορα το ομωνυμο album CAMEL.για τα επομενα χρονια εγιναν η εμονη μου.

  • Wtf, the crowd is just sittin' there and listening,

  • nerver let go ; this good music, when musis was music.......

  • Remember in '75 some lad in school lending me "The Snow Goose", still listen to them now, saw them in Liverpool twice back then, great musicians, and amongst the best concerts i ever saw.

  • Sorry to disappoint, but the sound is playback from their first album, not a live recording. That's why Peter Bardens can play Mellotron on a Hammond B3. Try overlaying the sound from the record and you'll find it's a 100% match.

  • @xabbukhozek.

Actually, only 372,080 (at time of writing) people have watched this vid, so to get idiot population of the world you go, 6,500,000,000(approx world population) /(devided by) 372,080 X (multiplied by) 24 = 417,023 idiots in this world. BOOM

  • YIKES...so good, reminds me of the 70's when I actually SAW CAMEL AT THE BOARDING HOUSE (SF) on my 21st B'day...

  • I can't even believe Justin Bieber's song Never Let Go is placed on the top of the list of songs when you search "Never let go"!

Guess the 24 people who don't like this vids are Bieber's fanatic fans.

  • Could anyone tell me what is the keyboard that is played here? Looks a bit like a mellotron no?

Anyway I guess that's an organ, a Hammond Maybe ?

  • @Yespower Yes its a HAmmond B3. However the comment below was made that he does seem to appear to be playing some mellotron sounds on the hammond. Im thinking it was prerecorded or something. this was before the days of midi. ;)

  • @afoordm I think this is indeed the studio audio version with a live video.

It seems too close to the studio versio to be a live version, particularly when one hears a mellotron playing and sees a Hammond on stage !

    Tell me if I'm wrong!

  • sounds like opeth's benighted...

  • @igguasu

except a MUCH better bassist. seriously. this guy is amazing. listen to the first 4 albums, he's fucking magical.

  • @igguasu actually, Opeth got their song from them. Not saying they rip camel off, but they got their idea from it...

    I love Opeth alot.

  • @Arekux

No, Mikael said himself that he ripped off this intro.

  • @Arekux lot of band ripped off camel, compare phantom of the opera of iron maiden with separation of camel

  • @Wayavas1337 LOL well I believe its better to rip off camel than rip off justin bieber.

  • Thumbs up if Opeth bring you here

  • i fell in love with this song from the first time i listened to it... then things were worse: it was a poison in my blood, i could not live without it... i sang it every moment, especially the first solo of the guitar... The word perfect is too poor to describe what i feel...

  • @ploumip i know exactly what you mean mate

  • SHEER BEAUTY.

  • all 24 of those idiots are loving how tricky Peter Bardens (RIP) was to be able to squeeze those mellotron flute & strings from that little (hah!) old Hammond B-3

  • @kevnote How exactly DOES he do that?

  • Well... my thumbs up will go to camel only...

  • I am definitely female and I am definitely prog, best full spectrum sounds in the universe, for shame, astonishing to dance to and the art I get from it is better than pretty much anything oh and ps, there are far more than 24 idiots in the world, the rest just haven't listened yet, what an astonishing sound this is, can you imagine getting to see it live :)

  • @Perfectpuddles Progressive Rock session

  • 24 Disliker's were looking for other songs so they didn't like so shut the fuck up.

Or maybe they didn't like the audience, because they were boring

  • i am happey to say iam glad they arn't as big as pink flloyed or i wouldnt of met adany latimer at aged 14 and had leason in away. in artistic music

  • Hmmm... flute at around 3:25, Andy is clearly playing his guitar. Overdubbed?

  • @adjensen: I think you'll find that it's Peter Bardens' keyboard playing the flute sound. Regardless, this is a live performance but using the soundtrack of the studio version, hence the sudden discontinuities in the video to keep pace with the soundtrack.

  • Hey, I was the 1001th thumb up.

  • Isto sim!!! É Música!!

  • Camel and Porcupine Tree are the two most underrated bands of all time. Amazing!

  • @PTHead1 Can you tell me aa bit about Porcupine Tree?! never heard of them.

But am a big fan of Camel

  • @lolipopi06 i know your comment is 4 months old but i thought id say a bit about porcupine tree anyway. they are amazing, like a less naff and more musically tasteful version of DT (no billion note per second solos), with a better singer. they are primarily songwriters, whereas DT (just used as an example) mainly like to show off their technical skills. if you want some good porcupine tree songs, i'd suggest "i drive the hearse", "lazarus" and "blackest eyes" to start with.

  • 23 people let go the wrong button

  • the very best, fantastic, excellent

  • Being a Metal fan i love Opeth. So when i saw somewhere that Mikael was inspired my Deep Purple and Camel i was like "what the **** is Camel". And well, i gotta admit that this is the gayest looking band ever, and and and.... when ok, I admit this song is kinda cool

  • @TheChopeur you really suck

  • @jcast18k

that was a compliment idiot, like i would care how they look like: this part was a joke

  • @TheChopeur metal just sucks when compared to this. so i take what you said as a compliment. prog is for cool people. go to your shit, this is for smart people. you just wont get prog. camel rocks. try getting why mikael has camel as influences. prog metal is not prog metal, 'cause it doesnt exist. is just a fake label people gave it to make resemblance of prog rock. 'prog metal' is just ordinary metal. sucker. go learn something.

  • @juandhaltrich

Hoo WOW you're way too hypster for me. I guess you even have your own label because everything else is so mainstream. this is for smart people > so you're the exception ?

I don't mind, "gotta let kids play" they say.

  • @juandhaltrich Yeah, he's mistaken, but so are you.

There is definitely progressive metal that pushes the envelope, and is brilliant, tasteful, diverse composition. Just as this is. Ever heard of Dream Theater, Opeth, or Tool, to name just a few?

  • Dream theater is crap! Don't compare things that aren't comparible!

  • @lolipopi06 Well, you're entitled to your own opinion, even if it is wrong. Frankly, i doubt you're a practitioner of music if you think Dream Theater is crap. They're brilliant, even if their style isn't your cup of tea.

Anyways, i wasn't necessarily comparing Dream Theater and Camel. Both are awesome bands.

I was merely responding to a previous comment stating that there's no creativity or inventiveness in contemporary music.

  • @Drummr88 progressive metal does not exist. plain simple. ive heard of DT, ive even listened to their music. ive listened to tool as well. and to me is just metal, just it is a little bit more `arty`, but progressive? never. you are entitled to your opinion of course. that is mine.

  • @juandhaltrich

''progressive metal'', ''metal''.. it is just words man..

music doesnt have to be classified by words to be good..

You didnt say if DT was good to you, and that is the main point...

  • Camel may have been underrated, their music though, their messages, will travel through time like the animal they took their name from travels through the deserts, finding finally it's destination and selflessly leaving their gifts to many generations ahaid of theirs.. that's the way of most true artists :)

(Δώσε ρε Ελλάδα με τα ακούσματα σου!)

  • τρομερο τραγουδι αν και οι rush εχουν κλεψει την εισαγωγη

incredible song though rush have stolen the intro

  • Why am i born only 15 years ago?!?!

  • Camel is something like heroine.....

  • @VenzinaKaiFwtia sosta to eipes, ama tous akoyseis den mporeis na tous xexhaseis

  • Most positive-minded song ever composed....

    Thank you Pete Bardens.

  • I want to buy the bassist clothes

  • 1793 ...the year Mozart died...didn't Don McLean write something about that

  • And don't forget--1793--what agreat year!

  • @LowBid86 I agree, the 18th century really kicked ass.

  • @DiffCliff Thank you for the support! I was either on my Aaron Burr kick or dyslexic...

  • Andy Ward is an amazing drummer

  • Whoa. When they said Benighted sounds like Never Let Go they was not joking

  • Terrific sound quality ! I found this by accident while looking for a movie called Never Let Go - I was a big fan of Camel in their heyday, hey hey !

  • What Don Juan: the Yaqui sorcerer calls "the gait of power (virtue) in this song is the "cadence of existential urgency" perhaps what Paul Simon meant by "The Rhythm of the Saints." Well, one cannot say that Camel is saintly but this tune has its saintly message.

  • i love this lyrics also

  • una obra maestra

  • those vocal are deep from the fire of the Camel's belly

  • every time that solo guitar introit comes up I melt -- Never let go the unity -- always let go the ego the lonely -- so many years away from you, literally -- Fritha returns!

  • this is amazing

  • All times classic..The best band ever

  • Classics is forever...

  • Una de las mejores canciones de camel, si no la mejor, una mezcla de sentimientos que hacen vibrar el alma!! Camel por siempre!!!

  • Lovely song,ace band,epic music-brilliant.When musicians were truly artists.

  • @gruffmeister44 we are still truly artists... Tha fact that mtv or your local radio station don't give a place for our talent is not our fault... Plus, have you heard of a band named Radiohead, a girl named Bjork or a group of young fellas named The Fleet Foxxes? You should consider openning your ears a bit before making such remarks.

  • @gruffmeister44 Or artists truly musicians..

  • no se cuantas veces he escuchado esta cacion y todavia me emociono.

  • Pure magic.

  • actually the drummer MAKES this sound... awesome skill

  • makes you realise how great it was to see great musicians stand up and just play really well with skill.

These days everything has a light show and everyone leaping around like manic nutters. I guess it's down to how you want to be entertained.

I found it refeshing to hear more than I saw.

  • Brother, this is such a good and valuable material, Camel is one of my favorites bands and I just enjoy this song so much and it is great to see the video. Thanks a lot for posting and God bless You Tube...

  • the lyrics prove that the apocalypse is nonsense, great mellotron and guitars.

  • The 24 people who dislike this Dont have souls....

  • @mikeyball03 SORRY I VOTE DOWN BY MISTAKE! I AGREE , YES , THEY CAN'T UNDERSTAND AND LIKE THIS SONG, YES , THEY CAN'T HAVE SOULS!!!!

  • Really good...♥

  • This is like my 2nd favourite intro to a song...it's just simply the shit.

  • @cofpaddy listen to benighted by opeth then

  • @jonathan220788 I have listened to it, I did hear benighted after Never Let Go when I first got into Opeth all those years ago and was like...hey wait a minute...=P

  • Non ascoltavo questo pezzo da 30 anni!!!! Grazie

    Rievocazione continua.

  • No cover version of this song will ever do it justice. The interplay between Peter's keys and Andrew's guitar were what made it great in the first place.

  • Another great song from this Magic band.Camel the best band ever

  • dedico esta rolla a CHIMU.

  • Wait a minute! There's women in the audience! This is not prog after all.

  • @FredMalm lol

  • @FredMalm What do you mean dude?

  • @LAMPROS311 Prog is stereotypically male-oriented.

  • @FredMalm Oh yes, of course, only the ownership of penish makes a person able to appreciate progressive music... :P :P :P!!!!!

  • @FredMalm I am a girl and prog is all I listen to (except for classical music maybe;))

  • @aistova Of course it's not a stereotype I agree with. :)

  • Great musicians, great musical legacy

  • def hear some mars volta in there

  • The beginning reminds me of a song from The Mars Volta can't remember which one, but it's from Frances the Mute I believe.

  • @cavemanfarts the beginnin is like a opeth song (benighted)

  • Camel is the best band in the whole world! No doubt,no correction...

P.S. Andy Ward the greatest drummer on earth

  • According to the statistic, there are 24 idiots in this world.
