  • who is the singer??

  • @leamir166

    @xcxTwilightxcx

    Sarah Mclachlan is the singer.

  • There are so many versions.. this is my favorite. Who is the singer?

  • Death is no dream, For in death I'm caressing you With the last breath of my soul I'll be blessing you Gloomy Sunday Dreaming I was only dreaming I wake and I find you Asleep in the deep of My heart Dear Darling I hope that my dream never haunted you My heart is telling you how much I wanted you * Gloomy Sunday
  • Sunday is Gloomy, My hours are slumberless, Dearest, the shadows I live with are numberless Little white flowers will never awaken you Not where the black coach of sorrow has taken you Angels have no thought of ever returning you Would they be angry if I thought of joining you Gloomy Sunday Sunday is gloomy with shadows I spend it all My heart and I have decided to end it all Soon there'll be flowers and prayers that are sad, I know, let them not weep, Let them know that I'm glad to go
  • It's just brilliant that it's something i can't describe in words! suicide song my arse!

  • @Izzy13gale

It is a suicide song, suicide can be portrayed beautifully, you just can't see it.

  • tienes problemas!!!!!

  • nice video :)

  • Touche of death

  • Das ist einfach so geil und die bilder einfach der hammer=)

das videso habe ich sofort in meine favos gepackt. Und das lied ist auch voll geil

  • In memory of my father who committed suicide June 15, 2010...I miss you so much and there's so much I had wanted to tell you and some things I wish I hadn't said--forgive me and give me some sign ... You'll stay in my heart and soul until we meet again...

  • @EmmaRose473 I am so very sorry. I hope that there were good memories though as well. I never knew my father properly due to the fact he was always drunk. He didn't kill himself but died a few years back and it hurt the things that were spoken to. As to see your father in your dreams and see if he returns because mine did. He told me it was ok and that he knew he would go and was proud of me. It was more closure and kinder than he had ever been in life.

  • @blackadder84 Thank you very much for sharing your experiences and your kind words to me...It's never 'easy' when it comes to matters like these...I did have so many good memories with my dad--maybe that's why it was and IS such a shock that he chose to do what he did--something I never thought he would ever do--but then again, that's the problem with 'never'...God Bless and good Karma to you...

    love,

    Emma

  • suck song :/

  • this's good butI like Diamanda Galas version more than this

  • I když jsou to už 3 roky, děsí mě, jak přesně si ještě dokážu ten pocit vybavit

  • Through out, pictures, music and sound, I think this version is the best. Do you all agree with me?.

  • This is clearly Sarah McLachlan...

    It's exactly the same.

It even has the dips in her voice in the same places.

  • What a lovely song.

  • This song is for SAEED KHAMSAA....... OF UAE...

  • i like emilie autumns version too! :) violin make it sad... and her voice is so... ahh

  • I like Emilie Autumn's version the best.

She leaves off the last verse, like the song was meant to be.

  • I love this version. It's the best.

  • pictures are good

  • the original version is the best;)

  • billie's version is the best

  • chido guan tu tri

  • Sarah MacLachlan has better range, especially in the higher registers. I'm still partial to the raw power of the original, but of all the versions I've heard, this is a solid second in my opinion.

As to hearing it in different languages, a group called Transsylvanians has a trilingual version, in Hungarian, English and German. You might try looking up "Szomoru Vasarnap" to find the original.

  • Billie's version is better.

  • maybe wen i hear dis song as of now in english version, it would'nt sound depressing and even to hungarian version bcoz i dont understand d hungarian language

but, maybe it wil do if i.

heard d original song and understand d lyrics

plus.d depressing voice of d singer of dat orig version

plus.d depressing melody of d magestic impact of d piano

plus.if i had a VERY sad life from d past and recalling dem while listening to dat orig version

all in all probably d total is

    (+_+)

  • who's singin' this version??

  • Sarah McLachlan :)

  • Well done, good song :-)

  • dnt get connected.

  • Another great work of art. Loved it. With Respect X

  • I love this song so much. I love depressing songs. Except I hate that I used to be depressed, and now everyone says I always look depressed. I love this song.

~You gave me a flower as a symbol of our love, but flowers die, so I guess our love isn't that strong.~ Misti

  • im alive but i feel dead inside

  • I love this song AND the pictures!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • The original composer was depressed because he couldn't come up with another hit after Gloomy Sunday. He didn't commit suicide right after the song was composed in 1933 but he killed himself 35 years later when he jumped from his building in Budapest. I like this version - like the cool pictures!! I also Diamanda Galas' version a little bit more. But Billie Holiday's is my favorite!

  • and billie holday's version had been forbidden on radios because of its sadness

  • i dont find billy's version sad at all.

  • i can't help crying when i'm listening to it

the very reason for which it ha been forbidden is the war : it could destroy the moral of the soldiers! anyway i hope you enjoy billie but this one is very good too in another style

  • Made in hungary. :)

    (original)

  • nice pics

  • This is a superb rendition of a song that isn't easy to do convincingly. Very beautiful, but easy to see how it might push certain types of susceptible people "over the edge." Seress must have been one intense and musical individual to have come up with it.

Hungarians make fine musicians...speaking as a violinist with some Hungarian ancestors of my own ;-)

  • this is the best version iv evr heard

  • cool song

  • dont be foolish. the song along isnt gonna make you suicidal. those who killed themselves listening to this song, were currently experiencing something quite sad in their lives, and the song is the thing that pushes them over the edge. to them, its a message, and sucks them of any remaining will to live.

im tired of seeing comments from people stating that they "survived the suicide song" no shit sherlock.

just dont listen to it after you find your lover dead in your bedroom. get the picture?

  • Seress Rezső világhírű szerzeménye. Feledhetetlen. Ha valaki belehallgat, bármely verzió is legyen az, magával ragadja.

  • This is the Sarah McLachlan version. It is a very deeply emotional song, but the stories of mass suicides caused by it are urban legend, and likely partly started to promote earlier versions of the song.

  • i like this music.....

  • looks like i'm not dead after listening this song =))

  • This is not the original, original songs to the sounds than the trembling more

  • Egyszerűen gyönyörű ez a verzió! Tökéletes hang.. gombóc a torokban :)

  • i think those person who commited suicides are the persons who can really relate at this song....

  • And I'm still alive ... death won't come near me :(

  • beautiful and appropriate clips for such a heart-wretching song...I like the version from 'the man who cried' soundtrack...BUT this one is probably just as good and the video is amazing...goes perfectly...

    I've always hated Sundays...and I am told I was born on a Sunday...maybe that's why I hate them...

  • this song is my all time fave. i listen to it day after day. I can now SING it in my sleep. I had dreams about it. IT'S AWESOME.

  • WHY does everyone think this is Sarah McLachlan????? It's Loreena McKennitt. I have the album. I can PROVE it. And for all hose who think this is the most depressing song ever: You've not heard depressing until you've actually heard Gloomy Sunday. This is not the original version that was banned. This is not the version people killed themselves over. The original starts out with "It is Autumn, and the leaves are falling." You all have computers. Google it.

  • This version is definitely by Sarah McLachlan. It was a live performance and was released on her CD "Rarities, B-Sides, & Other Stuff" about 12 years ago. I have this CD.

  • true! and the original song is in hungarian . but the one that composed it eas a pianist , singing it only at piano(raszo serres) in 1930 or something. but i like the version from the movie :) in german :D it is absolutely gorgeous. but this posted here doesn't even resemble to the original , it;s tottaly different! :-<

  • The original version is hungarian, from Rezső Seress

  • Sorry to tell you, but this is NOT Loreena McKennitt, so I am not sure what album you have.

  • Umm who the hell is that, this is Sarah McLachlan o_O; whom is far more famous seeing as I've never heard of Loreena. Where the hell have you been It quite planely says Sarah McLachlan...Genius.

"Sorry to tell you, but this is NOT Loreena McKennitt, so I am not sure what album you have."-AzraelsAshes

  • Not sure where YOU have been as I was responding to the comment here:

    Thanks smartass.

  • i only came accross this song about 10 mins ago, but i cant stop listening to it. Ive just completely fallen in love with it.

  • i love this song...its so sad...and awesomly disturbing...

  • @picklebuddy7 luv?

    scare nga eh..

  • Can somebody tell who the artist of this version is, and where i can get it?

  • This version is from Sarah McLachaln..

  • ups... McLachlan xD

  • Thanks!

  • I think you would already have to be in a pretty dark place to contemplate topping yourself. This depressing song could just push a vulnerable person over the edge

  • this scares me!

  • This song was banned from Hungary and later North America becuse over 15 people killed themselves while listing to this song or reading the words!

  • hu ez nagyon coooool

  • It's better in hungarian!! but i like this song... but so sad....

  • Great Song! Amazing Voice ... <3

  • wonderful song~~make me feel depresed :))

  • Another masterpiece ruined by the media. I can't stand the 'dreaming' part. The singer does an amazing job... I really wish it didn't have to be changed. If someone wants to kill theirselves jsut by listening to this, that's their problem. Don't ruin a song like this just to make it media-friendly...

  • Dead song . So sexy..

  • sexy

  • I hate the ending. The dreaming part completely ruins it...

But the rest of the song gives me goosebumps.

  • i agree with you kankypoo ... although i won t say that i "hate" it.

i just don t like it too much :(

  • I think you could take the dreaming part two ways. One way, she wakes up and it was all a dream.

The other way, she dies and is finally with the one she loves.

  • I don't like the last verse very much either, but I think Sarah manages to keep that feeling of sorrow and grief throughout the song.

  • That's were the edit begins I believe. It was changed.

  • You de best One to sing Gloomy Sunday...n if i keep repeating then don't know there would be one more name in Death list.....so heart breaking........

  • im gong threw so much right now and this song breaks me down everytime i listen to it <33 I Really Like It Tho Even tho Its Hard To Make Out <3

  • More than 100 people died when they head this song.so terible

  • this song is so pretty

  • this song keeps it real with the reality. Reality is depressing, life sucks

  • touche.

  • One word to describe it: Beautiful.

  • I suffer from depression, and now it took over and I become some what sychological

  • Oh this is amazing, and the picture is so beautyful. BRAVO

  • amazing song, but i have a hard time making out some of the words :/

  • this one touches me really in the deepest of my heart... great song!

  • bläää!! i have to say. why change something good into something bad. happy endings are rare any way.

  • apperantly this song was banned in hungary and the usa because it caused too many people to kill themselves

  • Aye, spot on. Thank God for the freedom of the internet =]

  • esta cancion... no es de GITANE DEMONE....y esta tipa quien es???'

  • Sarah McLachlan's voice is really piercing, too bad she doesn't do the other version,

  • who is doing this version?

  • The ending is not the original, they changed it to make it less depressing for the common masses

  • yeah! but I'd think that it's the good thing :D. Kinda like "hope in the darkness" xDD

  • whatever I wanna listen it from Ville's voice! :P but you're right it can be such a suicide bomb!

  • beautiful...

  • It's a really sad but beautiful song.

  • I like the pictures.

  • best song I've ever listened to! I wish HIM will cover this song too. Ville can sing it better..

  • if HIM covers it, all the emo's will commit suicide... suicide songs and HIM are NOT a wise combination :')

very good song though, one of the nicer versions.

  • lol

    this guy has a point

but we do want less emo in the world tho

  • Beautiful. Best of all versions!

  • hjchjc! I like the pictures, so beautiful! Where'd u find 'em?

  • Very nice pics, and song is beautiful.. I have Billies Holiday' version.

  • This song is so sad, when i frist heard it i was tearing i swear. Its such a sad song =[ another really sad song is answer that she sang,They both are such depresseing sad suchs but they are amazing and beaitful :] <3333

  • The only reason it depreses me is because it reminds me of a time of my life wich i miss alot..

  • it''s good music....but, it's has nothing sad in in man, are you kidding me?

  • am i the only one who finds this version. and infact the song unmoving. it does nothing for me. i am sorry.

  • no...i thought the pics were beautiful the the song wasnt that sad.

  • i love this version...and the pictures too.. beautiful..

  • powerful stuff...good photos,Sarah Mclachlan's version is outstanding!! Every version I have watched so far shows women--men have heartaches too.

  • i love this pictures you have used in this, where can i find them? specially the one with the rose on the slab. i love this song!! i have heard like soo many version of it, this one really hits a soft spot.

  • where do i get this song? i mean the sarah mclachan version. thx

  • This girl has beautiful voice! I love it

  • Any other good versions?

  • Very powerfull version,

    I like it

  • I like her version except that she put the 'dreaming' verse on at the end...that's not how the original was.

  • I love the pics..

some of them are realy beautiful ;)

  • i'm afraid of this video

  • Elvis Costello's version is so much more... amazing, to say the least.

Not to say that this isn't good.

  • This absolutey gets to me,it almost gets me to tears, and I can see how this touches the sore spots of people and get them to want to end it all...

    Heidi I love you...

  • though the singer may be talented..i think she ruins the purpose of the feeling that we're meant to receive. some may feel it but i am not a strong minded person and i don't get any message.

i only think about her voice, the way she sings and she projects it and the electric. i only think of it as a song and then not to be rude, ruining the song as what it was before this.

people may not agree but just saying what i thought.

  • great song,i love sarah

  • sarah's version is my favorite. Heartache is universal ai!

  • their all great versions SMURFENSTEIN

    whats wrongs with you??

willy nelson would even do it justice

i might even attempt it on a Hammond B3

    someday (or gloomy someday)

this is yet another great version for my

    GLOOMY SUNDAY YOUTUBE FOLDER

    and yes, i'm only dreaming

  • because man would never

    systematically put to death

    SIX MILLION of his brothers

    sisters and innocent children

    would he?

    SEE!?!

    so yes, i'm only dreaming!!

    otherwise...,

I will kill myself right now

  • i'f of to jump of a bridge now

  • this song is great, i love it

  • how great....despair and sorrow...

  • I want kill myself....no way of emptiness

  • Okay, the first half of the song is great, but in the original, as in the way it went brfore Billie Holiday changed it, there is none of this "I was only dreaming" crap. Why can't people leave a perfectly good song about despair and suicide as-is? What the hell are you afraid of, Sarah? Jesus. Grow a pair. If any of you would like to hear the way the song really ends, check out Diamanda Galas's version.

  • "Loose a pair!"

  • good song like it ......

  • i love this song.. the best version i've ever heard so far..

  • Wow! I love Billie Holiday but this is the best version of the song ever. Stunning....

  • Some parts of this song it sounds like she is screaming the song but some parts of it, it is very nice.

  • This is the best version of dis song I've heard so far....wonderful..

  • Who sings this version of the song?

  • sarah mclaughlan :)

  • love the song... :)

  • make this song blackmetal yeah!!!!

and it is not true that those dumb peoples taking suicide only fucking gay emo does that

  • Just at the moment, it glints my mood... Really nice song. Gloomy Sunday.. Too bad its Monday.

  • oh yeah, iv been listening to this song since my friend emily introduced this to me..i think its a great piece of music..a bit sad...but not necessarily suicidal..

  • Just to let everyone know, (people are saying the end isn't good) the last verse was not written by the original composer, Billie Holiday write it for that version, to brighten the mood.

  • billie holiday didn't write any of it

  • When she remade her own version she wrote the last verse, atleast that's what about 4 sources say.

  • anyway i don't think she wrote anything at all at least i can't find anything she wrote herself she did record every song under the sun though

  • i really enjoy the video
