We DO realize the speedo is not the correct way to measure speed on a motorcycle right? Even with a Speedo Healer they are off. GPS or Radar / Laser is the only real way to know. But no an F4i stock will not run + 160. Had 3 of them, none were stock, none would hang with the liter bikes.
@james900rr my 99f4 hung with the liter bikes, upto 165.my 02 f4i, prolly cant hang.a liter bike aint that impressive over a 600. a good rider on a 600 can out launch an stay right with a liter. An I have 3 gps, iphone, tom tom an a garmin, an all 3 give me different speed numbers than my speedo lol.
ok, I had a 2002 f4i and I was on a stretch of road completely level about 30 miles of strait road. my stock f4i with probably 4,000miles on it, topped out at 152 miles per hour. how did you get yours to 161.56 mph? I was rapped out, under the bubble in six gear, no wind. were you going down hill?
@bdubchevy That sorta pisses me off....you get 170. My 02 wit my girl an I Barely broke 140mph on lvl grnd....but my ol 99 ran outta revs at 174mph on stock gears an pulled hard the whole time...Im so ready for the 100rr.just need the money lol.
Nice ride. Now all you need is a power commander, headers, jardine exhaust, K&N air filter, high end plugs and performance sprockets and chain. Mind you the bikes limit is 168MPH or for you metric types around 265-270 KPH. But honestly... do you really need to go faster than that? Sad to say my friend even with all that done to it, any stock 1000 cc sport bike will burn you. Enjoy the ride.

I just got my 06 F4i a few weeks ago in brand new condition and dropped it because some asshole driver cut me off! What pisses me off is after watching me and my bike tumble in the gravel, he takes off. I hope he burns in hell. If you own a bike, never underestimate the stupidity of a driver and always wear gear. Thank God wearing gear in 85 degree weather paid off :) Good luck
@Kyle1299 in Mankato, MN. guy at the dealership was so stupid, i talked him down to 4.5k from his original 6k asking price. even got him to throw in a $200 helmet.
hey. im lookin at a 01 F4i with 14,000 miles. Guy wants 3500. That pretty good or what? Please let me know. Also says he laid it down but replaced clutch lever, shift knob, and new fairing. And also "It also has a custom computer that the guy that had it before me put in". he talkin about a fuel programmer?
@autolover3 Brah I got my 01 f4i with only 8k miles for 2 grand. In perfect condition. Never been dropped everything is brand new. Only thing I had to put on it was a new battery because I was a dumbass and washed my bike with a hose.
Well all you really need to wash is the fairings and the exposed frame so don't spray the bike because you run the risk of getting watter into the battery. I can't really explain it but it's easy.

If you're 17 start out with something that won't rape your insurance, and won't try to kill you when you whack the throttle open. A great starter bike is a Kawasaki ex500, but if you *have* to have a 600, the Yamaha YZF600r thundercat is an excellent bike. Anywhere from 97 to 07, you can't go wrong.
obviously your insecure about your size ELSEWHERE and are tryin to boost your self-esteam by putting us short people down...btw BIG THINGS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES...
This is way too powerful for a beginner. I started on a Ninja 250 for a year/10k miles, then a Ninja 650R for 10k more miles and 2 track days THEN an F4i, and the F4i still suprised me a few times with it's power. I currently have my F4i still and it's an awesome bike, but it's NOT for beginners. I've been racing fast cars for 10 years before I started riding too so that's got little to do with it.
Wow I find it weird that u don't say the f4i is not for begineers. Mine is my first bike so I got no others to refernce with but I feel it is. So hey does your's make this weird whistle noise I hear it on mine and other's on here in the engine? But
I took my MSF and I'm thinking of getting this bike, but I'm rather small and muscular at 5'6 and 135 pounds. Think I could manage with my height? I can tippy-toe a 650R at the dealership no problem.
Depends how serious you are. You should go try out different bikes with different hights. If you want a CBR and it's too high, I know you can get it lowered. My sister is 5'4 or so and can't come close.
I think it is, I just bought one and I've never so much as been on a dirtbike and I'm loving it. You have to be really careful with acceleration on a 600 though.
Dude what the hell are you talking about putting us "short people" down your 1 inch shorter than me. lol
I said 5'4 is short for a guy which guess what it IS!!! Go figure. Insecure about my size elsewhere? That's the first thing short people say. you really think every short guy in the world has a big dick and every tall person has a small dick? EXACTLY The only advantage short men have over taller men is that they can still go trick or treating and shop at kids foot locker! lmao
I have an `03 F4i & when I 1st got it( about 8 months later) I was out late one night and got to 157mph B4 I let off the throttle, it was Screamin fast, freeway reflectors were a Solid line rippin @ that speed!! All you Speed Junkies Better Tuck, or your Head's gonna fly off( and your entire body!!)LOL( I'll put vids up myself *soon!) I like Twisties as much as Straight Speed!!
Hmmmm You Might Be A Bit Short I Do Not Know Though Its 44.7 Inches From Ground To The Seat On My F4i.... I Am 5'8" And I Am On My Tippy-Tows I Usely Just Lean The Bike To One Side And Brae With One Leg... Also The Bike Goes 287Km/h With A Speedo Healer
@frostlwc You're so embarrased you have to try to bite back like a rabid dog. You've only had yours to 146? Something's wrong with your bike, or you're a fat stupid fuck. Go kill yourself on your bike little dumbshit; fuck up a wheelie and go straight to hell after an agonizing stay in the hospital. Would serve you right, you stupid little rotten runt fuck.
@scottgt69 You do not even know how to spell embarrassed and you said i should go back to school. You really know how to make your self look stupid on youtube . Throw that f4i in the trash before you talk about speed fag. And i hope a semi truck pulls out in front of u and your head gets stuck under a wheel so you can final give your parents that abortion they always wanted
i also have a 02 f4i and i got mine up to 250km last time i looked at the speedometer and it was plenty fast and still hade more to go and i weigh aprox 165 and the bike is a dream to drive fast or slow
im 18 and only weigh about 170 pounds and i got a honda 01 cbr f4i as my 1st bike and i handle it fine and it is so easy to ride and i got mine faster lol 265 km/h
thats ok i have a 2005 cbr 1000 now :) i get that going up to 299km now i had my gps showing 305km i will post a video this summer . thanks to everyone who rated the video :) ride safe everyone
how do you like it? any regrets or other bike you wish you had instead? im planning on getting cbr f4i since its a good price but there are also other bikes of the same value and km.
i just went to ride one about 2 hours ago had 22k and was very used still want the front to come up in first but in just a t-shirt i dont think doing 45 on a res street is very smart o ya im a big boy 6ft tall 260lbs
no prob as long as your not dumb there hella smooth about 5 months ago i tested one i turn 18 very soon and there's only one thing i think about more than riding a 600 lol
How tall are you. At 220 pounds you might want to look into a liter bike. But yeah my first bike after I took the msf course and still is my bike till this day is an 01 f4i. It is the easiest of sport bikes to ride. You shouldn't have a problem.
eh 220 pounds is plenty for a cbr 600. at least in my opinion. if you wanna take extreme cases, we got ghost rider. he maybe weighs around 180 pounds. he's a small guy. i only weigh around 165pounds. and got a friend that weighs around 180 as well, and he got the 01 FS. which should be more power in?
but yeah like you said in the end, shouldn't have a problem
I was at 227 when I started riding the f4i and it had plenty of power, and dont get a litre bike for your first bike unless you are a VERY controlled person
I'm just worried that the F4i will have TOO much power for me. The SV650s and Ninja 650 are probably more in the reasonable power area, but they are both uncomfortable bikes for me.
don't know the exact difference, but why dont you buy an older cbr if it's a cbr you want?. im getting the -96 version in june. will be my first bike after 125cc. but it probably depends on each person how much they can handle. otherwise the motards are nice first-time bikes. or a ducati monster :)
650r and sv650 have a lot more low end power, meaning faster off the line but lower top speed. 650r tops speed i think is 140 and same for sv.. i was gonna get a 650r but i got a way better deal on my '01 F4i. so glad i got this bike!!
as far as the bike having too much power, i was worried of the same thing. once i got on the bike and rode for a few days it was fine. just ease the throttle... like really ease the throttle.. its really jumpy. im coming from a vulcan 400 piece of shit though lol
Thanks guys for the responses! A friend of mine recently let me ride his 2002 or 2003 GSX-R600, (you can check out the 2 videos under my nick). The bike was pretty calm with a gentle hand, but it had a surge of power starting around 5000 RPM. I believe there is another surge around 10,000 on up to its 14,000+ redline. The bike was much more manageable than I would have expected. The F4i is very similar in nature to that gixxer I would imagine.
OK. You're buddy is a bit of a freak eh? Just joking, I like the CBR but I'm getting an almost unbeatable deal on a ZZR so looks like I'm gettin it after all.. Like Bon Scott would've said, ride on
Well my bike was a little bit closer then yours was. I know that there off and never read accurate at higher speed's. But mine at 166mph wasnt off by much at all, I mean not a whole lot, just by a few MPH. Either A you have an older bike or your bike's speedo is way far off from caliberation haha. But as I said it is off and never disputed that fact, but it's not 10% though by anymeans though. Thats way way to much of a speed difference
I wish you were right... A 2002 CBR600F4i with stock gearing will do an indicated 174mph. But if you look at a gearing chart the actual top speed is 156mph. That means the speedometer has a 11.538% error. I dont know whats wrong with your GPS but with stock gearing it just doesnt go that fast. Sorry Shane...
Well I'll have to check out my friends GPS then cause he has the same kind as I do. But it may be a week or so till I'm able to do that cause I have to wait (rear tires all but completely gone and the cords are showing throgh so I'm not gonna risk it) But I'll get back though
It all depends on the roll out of the bike. A gear chart only tells you what it will do with the gear and the engine. If you have a smaller rear tire, your gear chart may say you can do 200MPH but with a smaller tire you may only reach 170MPH. If you have a larger rear diameter tire you will reach faster speeds. It's all about roll, I'm part of a raceteam and we dont even look at gear charts, cause it's all relative to the tire size in which you are using.
Why does everyone still think that indicated speed is accurate? (not a response to the video, but the comments). Motorcycles are high.... always.. and 10% is usually the number to go by, and to SSshane, no, that means that when it says 110, your doing 100, at 99, ur doing 90, and so on. 600's top out under 160 true speed. always.. don't listen to your brother or friend or your own speedo that said otherwise.
It didnt have anything to do with my brother of friends, it was GPS enabled speed. I had the GPS with me on a high speed run, and everybody knows GPS speed is as accurate as your ever gonna get maybe getting bet by a speed trap. BUT no friends were involved, just me my bike and a GPS that tells you average speed, top speed, moving time, stopped time along with a handy function on where the nearest resturant so you can eat haha. But yes you are right but it's not quite as bad as you say though
I had a GPS system on me at the time that I did my run and my speedo was only 2 mph off at my speedo saying I was doing 166mph while I was doing 164mph on the GPS. If you wanna know your true speed take a GPS with you and you'll trully find out. Your 10% high number is off bya ton. Your saying at 100mph your really only doing 90mph. Your Kidding me right, thats a huge number to be off by! By the way I had 164mph and still had about 4 to 5 grand left on the bike. Meaning an additional 10-15mph
Nice video - love the bike. On a side note, you guys getting all "mathematical" and "technical" with the speedometer vs. actual speed BS - Who gives a sh!t - it's freakin fast (period).

Wow I find it weird that u don't say the f4i is not for begineers. Mine is my first bike so I got no others to refernce with but I feel it is. So hey does your's make this weird whistle noise I hear it on mine and other's on here in the engine? But

Man, I love this video, haha!
I took my MSF and I'm thinking of getting this bike, but I'm rather small and muscular at 5'6 and 135 pounds. Think I could manage with my height? I can tippy-toe a 650R at the dealership no problem.
stevarius 2 years ago
im about 5'7 142 and i just left a deposit for a r6 so im pretty sure u can handle it. jsut Ride safe!
dukviper90 2 years ago
Depends how serious you are. You should go try out different bikes with different hights. If you want a CBR and it's too high, I know you can get it lowered. My sister is 5'4 or so and can't come close.
youxarexeverythingx 2 years ago
Is the CBR a good first bike? Is it hard to drive for a beginner?
MarcAndreOlivier 2 years ago
I think it is, I just bought one and I've never so much as been on a dirtbike and I'm loving it. You have to be really careful with acceleration on a 600 though.
CelerMortis 2 years ago
you mean hard to ride?

Dude what the hell are you talking about putting us "short people" down your 1 inch shorter than me. lol
I said 5'4 is short for a guy which guess what it IS!!! Go figure. Insecure about my size elsewhere? That's the first thing short people say. you really think every short guy in the world has a big dick and every tall person has a small dick? EXACTLY The only advantage short men have over taller men is that they can still go trick or treating and shop at kids foot locker! lmao

To the CBR F4i riders out there, can a 34 year old, 220 pound beginner with the MSF and BRC handle a 2003 CBR F4i as his first bike??
cobratraxxas 3 years ago
How tall are you. At 220 pounds you might want to look into a liter bike. But yeah my first bike after I took the msf course and still is my bike till this day is an 01 f4i. It is the easiest of sport bikes to ride. You shouldn't have a problem.
cankleballs 3 years ago
eh 220 pounds is plenty for a cbr 600. at least in my opinion. if you wanna take extreme cases, we got ghost rider. he maybe weighs around 180 pounds. he's a small guy. i only weigh around 165pounds. and got a friend that weighs around 180 as well, and he got the 01 FS. which should be more power in?
but yeah like you said in the end, shouldn't have a problem
mongolaid 2 years ago
I was at 227 when I started riding the f4i and it had plenty of power, and dont get a litre bike for your first bike unless you are a VERY controlled person
tn2ndzn 2 years ago
I'm just worried that the F4i will have TOO much power for me. The SV650s and Ninja 650 are probably more in the reasonable power area, but they are both uncomfortable bikes for me.
cobratraxxas 2 years ago
don't know the exact difference, but why dont you buy an older cbr if it's a cbr you want?. im getting the -96 version in june. will be my first bike after 125cc. but it probably depends on each person how much they can handle. otherwise the motards are nice first-time bikes. or a ducati monster :)
mongolaid 2 years ago
650r and sv650 have a lot more low end power, meaning faster off the line but lower top speed. 650r tops speed i think is 140 and same for sv.. i was gonna get a 650r but i got a way better deal on my '01 F4i. so glad i got this bike!!
as far as the bike having too much power, i was worried of the same thing. once i got on the bike and rode for a few days it was fine. just ease the throttle... like really ease the throttle.. its really jumpy. im coming from a vulcan 400 piece of shit though lol
oCannabusdriver 2 years ago
Thanks guys for the responses! A friend of mine recently let me ride his 2002 or 2003 GSX-R600, (you can check out the 2 videos under my nick). The bike was pretty calm with a gentle hand, but it had a surge of power starting around 5000 RPM. I believe there is another surge around 10,000 on up to its 14,000+ redline. The bike was much more manageable than I would have expected. The F4i is very similar in nature to that gixxer I would imagine.

tylerhover 3 years ago
Well my bike was a little bit closer then yours was. I know that there off and never read accurate at higher speed's. But mine at 166mph wasnt off by much at all, I mean not a whole lot, just by a few MPH. Either A you have an older bike or your bike's speedo is way far off from caliberation haha. But as I said it is off and never disputed that fact, but it's not 10% though by anymeans though. Thats way way to much of a speed difference
SSshane6d9 3 years ago
Almost ALL bikes are off 10%, even the new ones. This includes cruisers as well. And the faster you go, the more MPH you are going to be off.
IceTTom 3 years ago
I wish you were right... A 2002 CBR600F4i with stock gearing will do an indicated 174mph. But if you look at a gearing chart the actual top speed is 156mph. That means the speedometer has a 11.538% error. I dont know whats wrong with your GPS but with stock gearing it just doesnt go that fast. Sorry Shane...
Trn2643 2 years ago
Well I'll have to check out my friends GPS then cause he has the same kind as I do. But it may be a week or so till I'm able to do that cause I have to wait (rear tires all but completely gone and the cords are showing throgh so I'm not gonna risk it) But I'll get back though
SSshane6d9 2 years ago
oh okay... good luck dont die trying to prove an impossible point.
Trn2643 2 years ago
It all depends on the roll out of the bike. A gear chart only tells you what it will do with the gear and the engine. If you have a smaller rear tire, your gear chart may say you can do 200MPH but with a smaller tire you may only reach 170MPH. If you have a larger rear diameter tire you will reach faster speeds. It's all about roll, I'm part of a raceteam and we dont even look at gear charts, cause it's all relative to the tire size in which you are using.
SSshane6d9 2 years ago
lol 10% so your saying hes doing 26 kmph lower than the speedo, u sir....are a dickhead....
Dupster1234 3 years ago
Why does everyone still think that indicated speed is accurate? (not a response to the video, but the comments). Motorcycles are high.... always.. and 10% is usually the number to go by, and to SSshane, no, that means that when it says 110, your doing 100, at 99, ur doing 90, and so on. 600's top out under 160 true speed. always.. don't listen to your brother or friend or your own speedo that said otherwise.
BryLight 3 years ago
It didnt have anything to do with my brother of friends, it was GPS enabled speed. I had the GPS with me on a high speed run, and everybody knows GPS speed is as accurate as your ever gonna get maybe getting bet by a speed trap. BUT no friends were involved, just me my bike and a GPS that tells you average speed, top speed, moving time, stopped time along with a handy function on where the nearest resturant so you can eat haha. But yes you are right but it's not quite as bad as you say though
SSshane6d9 3 years ago

and its 281.63 to be exact..i use online speed converter

Please everyone I am buying this bike. If anyone can tell me in MPH what is the top speed. What is the top speed on a CBR 600 RR? Thank you

What feg asks a question like this?!? YOU FAIL AT LIFE and don't even deserve a huffy.
IceTTom 3 years ago
wow, you really are a tough guy!
msbelli123 3 years ago
I rode a 2005 f4 for 2 years and my speedo would read 164mph before taching out on that machine.
Allballz9 3 years ago
Indicated is 10% high. so that is 144mph
Trn2643 3 years ago
I had a GPS system on me at the time that I did my run and my speedo was only 2 mph off at my speedo saying I was doing 166mph while I was doing 164mph on the GPS. If you wanna know your true speed take a GPS with you and you'll trully find out. Your 10% high number is off bya ton. Your saying at 100mph your really only doing 90mph. Your Kidding me right, thats a huge number to be off by! By the way I had 164mph and still had about 4 to 5 grand left on the bike. Meaning an additional 10-15mph
