Ahh life before the ESRB. The game goes out of its way to tell you there's no violence whatsoever over and over. Then it calls you a pussy if you don't complete enough levels before you quit.
@EvisceratorBand The music is definitely one of the things that kept bringing me back to this game. I was so obsessed with it that I made a small Flash video with a trimmed version of "Fractalian Space" that would loop infinitely.
Great work! I recall playing this as a 10 year old and I stumbled across the alternate video once or twice over my year or so of playing this game. I remember playing it solely so I could score the alternate ending but had no idea how to get it to play, I thought it was random chance... ARGH! *wipes away a tear*... I'm now 26 and it was only about a year ago where I told a friend about this unforgettable ending theme and song that so impacted my life as a young gamer! THANK YOU!
@sanjibai Lol, looks like the ending theme affected you as much me. =)
It's the most memorable moment I have of the game from when I was a kid. Sometimes I only played until I got the ending then I would stop for the day (and do it again day after day).
Back then I wasn't exactly sure how to get it to play, either. All I knew was that I couldn't load a saved game to view it, I couldn't lose a race, and I had to get far enough into the game. I used to play until the junkyard stage to be safe.
@thebird01010 Thanks. In general, I tried to keep the commentary short and not talk over the video clips. Lance is a big part of this game's experience, so trying to talk over him just wouldn't make sense.
@kylgrv Good, it's not just me then. It may not be as apparent for someone watching, but when you play it yourself you can feel that it starts weird compared to most of the other tracks.
thanks for remembering that second ending. for some reason, i thought of lance boyle this morning. i was hoping to find a "lets play" so i could sit back, go back to win 3.1, and nostalgia all over myself. thank you for delivering.
@SuperDiabeetus Lol, I like that line, "nostalgia all over myself". I think I might start using that. I miss the old DOS and Win 3.1 days. Those were the best. My favorite part of that clip is at 7:08 when the other part of the music kicks in. Sometimes I used to play the game just to hear it.
It's not likely. I played a demo of MegaRace 2 years ago, and while it wasn't that bad, I liked the original game better. And I didn't really like the demo for MegaRace 3. I was glad that Lance was in both games, though.
Between the two, I would at least consider doing MegaRace 2 if I found my old copy of it, but that would only be at a later time.
i remember watching this game when i was like 10, we werent allowed to touch the "new" computer back then, cuz it cost 4000 bucks or something. so i just had to watch.
I learned how to use computers at a very early age. I had to ask for permission to use it when I was a kid at first, but I got used to it quickly and eventually didn't have to ask anymore.
I started with DOS (the original, w00t) before we even had Windows 3.1, back when everything was done by keyboard. This game is a perfect example. Those were good times~
The music was one of the key elements that really got me into this game as a kid. Every time I hear it I get that nostalgic feeling. Ah, the good old days~
The name Iron Helix sounds familiar, but I've never played it before. Maybe I saw its name once or twice back then. After watching the video for it, it seems like something I could get into though. I love old classics.
man i love the music!.suburb and the first level were my favorite.thanks for posting! did you ever play iron helix? i remember it crashed my dads dos like every time...lol

@Whitetiger187 As a kid I probably thought of it as more creepy, but now I'm leaning towards more awesome.

@verdigo1 Violence? What violence? Oh, you mean the dozens of gang members you blow to pieces (virtually, of course). Yup. No violence whatsoever. XD

I didn't think anyone else liked the music as much as I do.
