  • i agree with "beastwatches" its a great car... but no matter how much power you have if you cant get it to hook your just going to spin down the track. so take that as a lesson people. dont just dump your money into the engine, invest a lil into the suspension so you can hook and go...

  • dude. you dont drag race what so ever do you.. 1 wrong tires. 2 need a weelie bar. 3 nothing wrong with the clutch so dont blame it on that. your just scared and you have the wrong stuff. its a great car and i love it cuz im a ford guy. you just need to torche it more... but keep it up man great job... 1000 hp mustang should run 9's or high 8's depending on how your launch is... good luck and hope you make it.

  • Motorsports and Lakewood traction bars all do a good job of planting the rear tires and eliminating wheel hop. If you're not using slicks or a sticky tire, traction bars won't do much more than eliminate wheel hop. But if you have a pair of slicks, traction bars can give you the needed traction to pull a wheelie off the starting line

    I know it isnt easy with twin prochargers on a z06 (over 1000hp :) but im sure its a real bitch at 30psi through the turbos. keep at it and find a suspension setup that complements your launch. Then look into some tuning to get engine working with the turbo better...

  • it's nice to have that power when the boost comes into play, but it would be even nicer to see some lower end power so the tires aren't breaking loose every time the turbo spools up.

  • Test runs at 13 psi, meaning it's at 500ish horsepower. And he's clearly not used to the drag strip. The beginning of the video states that in so many words. He'll get 9 seconds out of that with some more track days.

  • Ok so civic won, big deal. The mustang has a tremendous amount of power and big problems with traction and driving. With better driving skills, a drag set-up suspension, perfect track conditions, and possibly a new rear end with tubbed hoosiers, then this car would be a mean low 9 possibly high 8 car. if you look at modular mustang racing, they have a 2v mustang that will run an 8.9 but im sure the driver and traction/ weight transfer is better. beast car, just get it right.

  • If you look at the end of the video it says that the test runs were only at 13 psi. He would be much quicker than the 10's if he were running the full 30 psi.

  • There is no way that civic is running only 400. It's going to be more like 500-600 and I bet that isn't even street able. On the other hand, put regular wheels on the mustang, and you got yourself a nice 1000hp sleeper.

  • something is wrong here.... my 557HP stang hit mid 10's easily on a hot day at the track... i saw the dyno so i believe the power but where the hell is it all going to? definitely not the ground lol

  • several things can be causing the car to not run as fast as one would expect. Tire pressure, quality of the track surface, rubber compound in the slicks, gear ratio in the rear, transmission gearing, reaction times of the driver and how well the driver is shifting. that is a beastly engine, but it doesn't look like that stang can put all that power to the ground.

  • Well one that thing that is slowing him down is hes launching too high of RPM. its all about hooking up and setting the suspension right. a 700HP twin turbo trans am i work on runs quick ET's launching at idle and my slowest times in my mustang where when i Launched at higher RPM's

  • stiffer is for road racing, try lakewood 20/10

    they are softer, you can also get them with a drag bag, this wll allow for weight transfer, the more to the rear makes better launch

  • That Civic was no joke, it's a 10 sec car. I'm sure the stang wasn't on full boost either. Those look like really slow starts for what this car is capable of, if he could lay down some serious power at the start he would have beat the civic.

  • Put some 15s on the back, go with a set of Mickey Thompsons ET Drags. With some 10" tire on it and it will fly... But it might need more tire lol.
