How to use your Mac's Speech Recognition tool

I have a question regarding the Photoshop-based voice commands. Using your Applescript commands as a template, when I change the "tell" application to Photoshop instead of System Events, it won't switch tools, but if I leave the Applescript as is and tell System Events to perform the keystrokes instead, the voice commands work in every application. Is there a way to limit those voice commands exclusively to Photoshop?

@wildfox1989 Nevermind, I already figured it out. I added this command:

activate application "appnamehere"

tell application "System Events" to keystroke "x"

Basically, it automatically switches to the target application, then performs the keystroke. It'll always switch, but I'm not sure if it'll also open the app if it's closed.

i have accidently saved two names under one URL (Facebook) in the safari section of the speech commands, i.e, i have saved both the words google and Facebook to get into Facebook but i want google for google and Facebook for Facebook, if there anyway way i can change where the command takes me? thanks. please send a message to my account

This will completely disable the speech recognition software.

@jtmcutter1 .....I can build an intel i7 with 24 gig Ram that will blow your mac any day for less than 3k. Macs are aesthetically better looking but functionality, convinience, price, and more bang for your buck always goes to PC. Now not even in graphics, video, and media production does Mac come close to PC bc of Adobe CS5.

@jtmcutter1 I use macs but it's impportant that Windows keeps competing with Apple. That way, both companies thrive to offer a better quality/price on their products. Why do people think windows 7 is much better than Vista? To compete with OS X. If either company would have 100% of the market, their products would probably be crap because there would no competition. Apple is slowly reducing its prices to get the upper hand.

There should be one with every model. Maybe you need an adatpor. I don't know the terminology but if you got a fat end you need an adapter. As far as I know (which isn't much so I hope someone else will reply too) you can use one for the small mic hole or one for USB2, maybe even FireWire. Some mics come with an adaptor.

I installed the "Dictate" version and have had a nightmare - working great for an hour then it started scrambling text when dictating into all apps beside itself. The Customer Support team were not able to help (several reinstalls and retrains later...)

I just recently got a laptop with Vista Basic installed. It has voice recognition built in and it actually works! Believe me, I was surprised my own self! I've been thinking about getting rid of Vista and going back to XP, but with each passing day I discover something new about Vista that makes me want to keep it.
