Yes,turning to left more than three blocks is the palace side hotel, It was my hotel too :) I was in Kyoto in January, very cold and very snow,beautiful, I want return to Japan again too.
yes ! the karasuma dori.... my hotel was the palace side hotel just 100 meeters north of this exit. i even walked to Nijo castle from my hotel in about 10 minutes.
I really loved beautifuk mystical kyoto and i want to go back as soon as possoble. i have to spend more time in japan. i can afford it now , but sadly i cant get time off from work till next year at the earliest.
i wish i was sitting at an outdoor restaurant along the Kamo river drinking and eating food right now.
