  • my favorite song off my favorite album of all time, fuck these guys rock, so glad i got to them last july

  • I like this song but the acoustic guitar makes it sound like Supertramp! Gotta love the 70's!!!!

  • One of the happiest "feel no pain" uplifting RUSH songs....awesome

  • Oh my dear lord the bass

  • sweet memories

  • the most underrated band of all times

  • Sweetness!

  • this has always been an interesting song ~

  • Teach the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame a "lesson!"

  • Two people didn't listen again.

  • Alex Lifeson is a fucking gem.

  • 1 person needs lessons

  • perfect.... can't believe someone would take the time to click dislike... clueless!

  • Ear candy

  • @koyunbaba73 Lol, it's true.

  • Sweet Memories...........................

  • Excellent tune! My fave off this LP...

  • I gotta say, while the rhythm section performance is awesome (does anyone expect otherwise?) I think this song and The Twilight Zone are pretty shitty as songs. A Passage to Bangkok, Tears, and Something For Nothing make up for it though.

  • @Eyedunno I have to say, i think Lessons is a fantastic song. It's always been my favourite song from 2112. Contender for one of my favourite Rush songs ever!!!

  • As awesome today as it was in 1976.

    Unfukinbelievable

  • pedazo de tema perro.... enjoy

  • I wish I could make a loop of the first 26 seconds.

  • i freekin love rush, if anyone here likes this song and don't have the album, I highly recommend it Rush 2112 BEST ALBUM EVAH

  • The first side of 2112, being the EPIC that it is, sometimes overshadows the great songs on the 2nd side of the album (yes, I guess I'm showing my age with the album reference). I've always loved this song, "The Twilight Zone", and "Tears", not to mention the SWEET "Passage to Bangkok" which has one of the greatest riffs in the history of R&R. Regardless of the so-called Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & their obssession with artists they think are/were "important", Rush will always be in my HOF.

  • killer bassline !!!!

  • I'd like to know why this song never gets radio play when they play Rush. It has such a cool groove to it, and Geddy's vocals are pretty awesome. He was still able to sing hard on this album.

  • @tonusaitis Because of the crtics on Caress Of Steel which was the album B4 this one so their not going to pay attention to it unfortunatly. They only look at hits like Spirit Of Radio, Limelight, Red Barchetta, Freewill all that stufffff oh yeah and Tom Sawyer lol got to say that one

  • why did i have to be born into a generation full of ignorant spoiled brats with that noise that's supposed to be "today's" music. apparently your not cool unless u listen to or wear whats in style. i hate ppl who think that way these "artist of today" don't compare to rush and never will. btw I'm 19

  • @shadowspain101 I was thumbing through my dad's albums it got ahold of me, and I'm 39.

  • @shadowspain101 You know you're just as ignorant right? There is, has been and always will be great artists in every era. To ignore classics like this is heinous, but so is ignoring modern classics. The thing is that you have to dig, it's harder than just finding the oldies which have gone through the nostalgia filter (the bad is forgotten in time the good glorified) but it pays off. I'd skip the charts though, not entirely devoid of good music but there's definately a low signal to noise ratio

  • @deveeoos Great artist of the modern era? dude, if i really wanted to, really felt like it, all I'd have to do is go down to the nearest computer shop buy some type of audio editing soft ware, rip of some awesome artist from the past remix (destroy) the instrumental half of the track and and some poorly written lyrics that involve sex booze drugs with poor done dance for a music video, and now I've got today's next greatest hit. lmfao. that all the music of today is 80% of the time.

  • @deveeoos BUT!there are those who cant sing a note right to save their life, but slap an auto tuner between the mic and the speaker system and you got a your self a tone def hottie that now has the voice of an angel..... or an unattractive robot. if you haven't got the point yet, it's that computers can do some amazing frickin stuff. which takes me to my 2nd point, there "are" no great artist now, just 90% with good tech. screwing over the talented 8%, because that's not whats ppl want

  • @shadowspain101 Same here and I'm 19 also.

  • @shadowspain101 Thank You! There is soooo much kick ass real rock from that time period!

  • Comment removed

  • @shadowspain101

Thinking mans music. Always go with your internal moral compass. Am 56. Cheers lad.

  • @shadowspain101 im 19 also and i feel the same way.

    Rock on bro

  • What can sound better than this? I was 16 in late 76 when this album came out and can't get enough of it even to this day! Rush is part of our canadian heritage and an awesome heritage it is.

  • I first heard this song when I was 14. I am now 49. Not sure how anyone could not appreciate this epic song. Nevertheless, I am not responsible for anyone's limitations....

  • @wedgem Thank you for that.

  • Man I haven't heard this in years! I love it, what an awesome song from 3 of the best musicians on the planet!

  • First time I've heard this song in over 30 years. And around 1:30 I found myself waiting for the music to fade so the 8 TRACK CAN SWITCH TO THE NEXT TRACK!! Nice to hear the complete song without those annoying technicalities.

  • sweet memories rush in qickly by rush are class

  • I'm one of the younger Rush fans and all of my friends hate rush. I did a school music project on them and we got to show a you tube video, so i showed vital sings and no one liked it. All my friends like Eminem and Justin Bieber.

  • @rushgirl16 , sometimes it just stinks being the brightest person in the room, doesn't it? :)

  • @rushgirl16 Understandable! You listen to your junglebunny, bubblegum La Compton music. I'm just happy not to be part or your generation but if you put a dislike on Rush you better be ready to be told and put in your proper place. So go wear your fag jeans down to the crotch with your hoodies and listen to something else. Don't listen to Rush because your a brain dead retard and you can't process this kind of music.

  • @MultiFloyde Umm, exuse me? I said i like rush! I LOVE RUSH! Rush is the greatest rock band in rock history, if you dont like rush than your a fag! Geddy Lee sings like an angel and i know sooo mush about rush. Geddy's real name is Gary Weinrib but his stage name is geddy cause of his mothers accent, most people think its his grandmothers but its his mothers. So im not gonna wear my "fag jeans" im gonna wear my rush shirts! All 8 of them!

  • @rushgirl16 i agree . i am 50 years old I have been enjoying rush for 35 years.... THANK YOU>

  • @farboy1162007 Here's to 50. Rush, still listen to it LOUD!

  • I remember walking down the streets of my old neighborhood in Redford MI with my 8-track player jamming this tune. One of my favorites.

  • Heard Limelight on the radio which is great but c'mon people you can do better!

  • Sweet memory flashing by life itself reflected by RUSH. Again.

  • My friend was playing guitar in the hall. She turned to me and said "Give me your favourite Rush song, and I'll play it".

I looked at her sarcastically and said back "*song*? I can't even choose a favourite album..."

She played Subdivisions, and life was good.

  • Definitely my favorite Rush album.

  • greatest album of ALL TIME !!!!!!!!

  • you didn't listen again .long live rush, sweet memories.

  • 0 people need to shut the hell up! Oh, never mind

  • Fuck YEah!!!!

  • time machine

    sweetmemories

  • The quintessential classic rock solo.

  • 2112 has got to be a top 10 rock album, da hell with the hall of fame, sweeeet memoriesss

  • 2112 has got to be a top 10 rock album, da hell with the hall of fame

  • I <3 RUSH

  • Sorry listening to them live at concert last night wasn't enough... I need more! YOU KNOW WE TOLD YOU BEFORE!

  • God damn Geddy's voice is absolutely stellar in this song. It penetrates your body and grabs your soull!

  • you didn't listen again...

  • RUSH---"LESSONS" (LIFESON)

  • I like all Rush, but this song has always been my favorite by them.I just wish the song was longer.Seem odd how all great songs seems short though.Peace to all.

  • @TheRockenRandall There has been a lot of documentation via interviews as to why Rush decided to create short songs. It all comes down to spacing on vinyl or cassette. There was only so much space to record data to, and they needed to keep in mind continuity of the music. Its kind of cool if you think about it, listening to side A then flipping to B, if it was engineered right, it would not miss a beat

  • Can you believe that some gay song about friday( we've all seen that new teen pop sensation) has 1000 times more views than this

  • One of the best Rush Songs! Very Inspirational.

  • Good road tune. You know what I mean, you what I mean? HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!

  • Sweet memories I never thought they'd be like this?! Wicked bass licks an all!!

  • What a fucking awesome song

  • awesome tune....I forgot about this tune until I saw it here on youtube... Thanks for the "Sweet memories". RUSH RULES....especially the old heavy RUSH.

  • They thought this was their "swan" song so they did what they wanted and created one of the greatest albums ever

  • choooooon

  • "i think i'm going bald!!!!"

    ........ oh wait

  • I think Rush, like most awesome bands their best stuff is the non radio stuff.

  • Comment removed

  • @jasonungar08 i know, right? fuck the radio too. it's a bunch of bullshit. i'm allergic 2 bullshit. lol

  • great tune,great mix,nice groove,great memories.for a 3 piece rush is always appealed to me...

  • RUSH---"LESSONS"

  • One of the sickest bass lines EVER!!!!!

  • Always loved this album out of my collection...twenty - one twelve. Thanks for posting Lessons.

  • such a sweetheart of a song on an amazingly good (but dark and heavy) album

  • 0 dislikes :D

  • absolutely my best rush song ever

  • there are 0 dislikes one of rushes best. it is meer genius to write a song about learning

  • One of my ABSOLUTE fav Rush tunes!!! Bringin' this puppy to the deserted island with me!

  • FUCK THE ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME, THEY DONT DESERVE RUSH

  • @dbarnett714 Only the elite can truly appreciate Rush.

  • @legendofmatt23 smugly snortlaughs

  • Hell yeah....... takes me right back to highschool ! It's 7:45am on any given weekday in 76,77 and I am in my moms '73 monte carlo with the sunroof open, pissed off. I then click this 8 track of Rush in the player and spark one up. I drive right past the school with the breeze blowing through my hair. Instantly life is good. lol

  • @pso7691 I wish I could have been a teenager in the 70's

  • @RoCk4LiFe90 Yes, it was a good time to be alive. It was a very different world and music was a big part of everything. The music scene and even the people had a very different outlook. The government and society keeps putting pressure on the kids of today to conform. If you want to escape and really want to get in touch with the 70's, listen to the music of the day. It will set you free.

  • @pso7691 Oh believe me I'm well versed in rock from the 60s, 70s, and 80's. I have been listening to it since I was born (really I have). I have loved this music since I could consciously know what is was (I'm 21 now). That's why I wrote that reply to you, I'm completely jealous of you, I would love to be in a time period where I would fit in.

  • @dbarnett714 You are the greatest person i have never met.

  • @dbarnett714 Rush should have thier own museum.

  • @dbarnett714 The R&R Hall of Fame is controlled by Jan Wenner of Rolling Stone magazine fame...he is as lame as his magazine. Only those he feels as cool enough are nominated...Rush should definitely be there along with many others like Paul Revere and the Raiders and Tommy James. Wennner is an egocentric moron.

  • Geddy hits notes that only dogs can hear

  • 28 254 views? what a fucking disgrace. people have no taste.

  • I love this song so much, the guitar tone is fantastic, If you listen to the bass, you can hear where Steve Harris was influenced, Geddy Lee is an amazing bassist, as Neil Peart is a drummer, and Alex Lifeson a guitarist.

This is the music that will live on forever to trancend generation after generation, RUSH FOREVER!

  • I always loved the way Alex's soloing sounds on this song. He plays the outro with such an urgency and purpose. As for his tone, I dunno about a Strat, but it sounds like his 335 straight through a little Fender Champ cranked to 11. As far as the acoustic part goes I heard he was a fan of Nashville tuning.

  • I think this group is awesome 3 people do a damn good job excellent muscians not like today what happened to the real groups that play REAL music like RUSH Black SABBATH Iron MAIDon led zepplen ECT.

  • Nah...He's just using a Strat and a cheap 15 watt practice amp!!!!!!!

  • What a great album(yes, album) I cut my teeth and fingers on this album, Geddy made me learn the bass the right way. truley one of the greatest bands of all time.

  • @blablabla9ish really? play with us, a bass player who knows and appreciates Rush is rare

  • OMG I reallly like it !!

  • This is one of the few times Rush used multi-tracking guitar parts (more than two anyway). There are multiple acoustic guitar parts in the intro (as well as a couple tracks with an acoustic equipped with an electric pickup, the bright and "twangy" sounding part) and one of Terry Brown's great mixes switches from all acoustic to more electric-sounding acoustic in the intro. One of my all time faves of Rush (an often overlooked track too).

  • Yeeeha! REMINDING ME of the good old days and I KNOW!

  • thats a 12 string Alex is playing...pretty isnt it? :)

  • Who would've known Alex could've written such a good song?

  • the acoustic sounds like that 1990`s song ``breakfest at tiffany`s``!

  • @MeYouView u mean the acoustic in breakfast at tiffanys sounds like this! :P

  • @Steel876 Right!

  • @MeYouView Wrong way around. Breakfast At Tiffany's sounds like Lessons!

...Helps Lessons was written in 1978...

  • @browncoat697 1976 is when 2112 came out.

  • @rjcpacker 19762112

  • i love the drum thing at like 1:58 1:59 ish lol

  • One of the best songs ever written. Period.

  • I think Geddy blew out his larynx out on this album.

  • I seriously need to get this album!

  • @Meta1Godess wtf man rush is god

  • @Meta1Godess

You mean KICK ass, right? ;)

  • @Meta1Godess then dont look it up u fucking troll !

  • @Meta1Godess lol Ya I can't stand em. Any retard can write a boring 20min song like 2112. haha Just kidding btw I'm a Rush fanatic.

  • @Ryan0170 haha i was about to go off on you until i read the last sentence. you cant get any better than Rush.

  • i like how no one has disliked this vid yet

  • zeppelin like

  • @bcrich52 shut up

  • If you love horses, Rush, AC/DC, Led Zepplin, Tom Petty, and etc. Watch Horse Shoe Stables. Comming Soon- July the 18th.

P.S mostly for girls, but it does have a boy in it.

  • best album, best band. EVER

  • Here is a track I wish the band would breakout more often on tour. Often over looked

  • @pluckhutma mostly because they play songs that only neil for some reason, this is writen my alex

  • @bllpg9 True. Alex and Geddy don't have too many songs that they have composed themselves besides the first album.

  • @pluckhutma actually alex does a lot of composing, its just that neil writes 95% of the lyrics

  • @Sophenomenos yea someone told me what composes means. I should not have used that word. Thanks though!! That's what happens when your not a musician.

  • I'll be there! When I teach, what I've been taught! And I've been taught! ... oh the memories.

  • one of the best (and only) rush songs not written by neil peart, but by good ole ALEX!!

  • @ipvideogames But good though, isn't it.???

  • Why the heck is Marilyn Manson under the similar videos section. He, she, what ever it is doesn't even come close to thinking about comparing to Rush.

  • Alex Lifeson wrote this song -Music and Lyrics- by himself...

  • Geddy's voice is amazing on this album. High pitched, yet with some rasp and raw power.

  • I remember when I was 16 my dad took me to a Rush concert and I fell in love. I'm 19 now and I still love them going to see them on August 31st. Can't wait.

  • AWESOME SONNNG (8)

  • an eleven year old (me) listening to this stuff..coooolll this is my second fav song

  • This my friends, is why Rush is the best fucking band ever.

  • This Rocks...Period

  • I'm not sure but I don't think this song is off the2112 album..

  • @fistchips it is, on the "record" the A side was the entire 2112 overture, and the song was on the B side

  • @chrislsutton ....yeah I realized that after I commented..great album!!

  • Yes Rhythm is acoustic, then comes the electric. I learned this song. Music from my Days too

  • Rush is the best band ever. so much better then modern music today like all that rap crap. im deff seeing their time machine tour july 31

  • 75 Olds Cutlass 442, this cassette tape and big sack of weed.....ah yes the good ole days.

  • yea this is pure.....
