I was a Goth in the 80s and for one couldnt care less about the influences being obvious. Wow its like the Hunger! I remember having conversations about how influenced Bauhaus were by Bowie or The sisters by Iggy.
I'm just glad somone out there is making music I can listen to especially after the past 2 decades of emo/goth Marilyn crap
"Oh, God...we're trying hard to be the next Joy Division...with a pinch of Bauhaus...and as long as we keep saying 'black' and 'blood' in our songs, people might forget that we're just trying to be goth..."
Don't get me wrong. I love the songs, I love the music, and I love the band. I just can't hear this without hearing all the bands that inspired this sort of music.
Same here... higher production value though which makes it easier to listen to thus more acceptable to a broader audience. Too smooth tbh. but still great songs!
I don't know why but for some reason it isn't the girl on girl dancing or the oral sex that's hot for me, it's Justin Warfield dancing behind the fence. Is that weird? (:
this its a great band i dont live iu america so it took a little for mi to discoverd them but im glad i did better late than ever we dont see this kind of culity music in colombia we are in another direction rightnow you should cheq it if you havent the ''now'' coplombian music but this its realy something grate band
what was that first hit they had, it was all over fuse and mtv, the video (if i remember correctly) was set in a school dance. and why can't i find it on here.
The minute the video started I knew this was inspired by Bela Lugosi's Dead by Bauhaus. I love that song! This is like a modern interpretation of a classic gothic song. Very well done :]
justin voice is super sexy! got to hang out with adam the dude rockin the hat his soo cute & shy they were soo awesome live at the piazza last saturday
Obviously a tribute to the opening sequence to 1983's "The Hunger", where David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve hunt for dinner in a club while Bauhaus performs "Bella Lugosi's Dead. Great scene.
@finnsia : 1) It was a figure of speech... So, Bauhaus's "Bella Lugosi's Dead" (from The Hunger) already IS part of the audio-video art history... That is precisely why SWR chose THAT particular "quotation"... 2) If we speak about "music" let's take an MP3... Not a vid... Get it? :-)
chirstopher walken's musical genius strikes again, just look at the "paris" song i forgot by what band.....point being who knew an old snl skit would be to the rebirth of the cowbell.
The interesting irony compared to the Bauhaus video or the movie The Hunger which it uses footage from, there is a clever role reversal that threw me off a bit. I totally recommend checking out the originals if you like this video. I liked it before but I have a much deeper appreciation now. Kudos to SWR.
What the hell. I know this is supposed to be like The Hunger but this is just ripping off. The first thing I said when it started playing was "Is this Bela Lugosi's Dead?"
Its funny how gothic this is, how inspired they are by the best gothic bands of the 80s, and how they aren't attached to the shitfest thats left of the "goth scene"
@lazirusien THANK YOU! I love their fun elegance, almost harkening to the New Romance looks of the late-1980s instead of looking like Hot Topic blew up all over the place.
@lazirusien Yep, I actually never heard of Bauhaus until a few days ago but after watching their Bela Lugosi's Dead music video and then watchin this it's definately a tribute, and really well done (I think). I actually like this music video even more because of that.
WOW..... This is a scene from a movie. Granted most people don't know what's going on in the movie unless they really pay attention but, the song sounds eerily like the one that was originally used for this scene.
OMGoth! Thats awesome, this is a parody off of one of my favorite films The Hunger with David Bowie and Susan Surandon. And the SWR is suppose ta be The Bauhaus! Love it!!

this video can be compared with some scenes from the movie 'hunger' from 1983.
adam and justin are behind bars, and in the movie, as i recollect, bauhaus performs in improvised cage or something like that.
also, david bowie plays vampire who found one of his victims in the disco club.
SWR mentioned that bauhaus had great impact on them, so it's very likely that they had watched this movie :)
