only can agree with you. There was a round coffee table in this which my mum still had in her loft . My brother who is an interior designer has it now in his flat - and looks so retro and great. Just also like to add, regardless how people might say the front room looked naff, it was a home and it was homely. How many homes do you go in and they thing just having a settee and and a TV makes a great living room? no pictures on the wall, no clock etc just bare walls and bore cheap laminate
This is Prediction 1981 (band configuration with Horace Seattle on drums) with santic records. Recorded at easy street Studio bethnal green East London. Early days of Trevor The Technician Mckenzie on ridim guitar. Live version can be found on myspace (music only) Apollo gig.
I remember dem green shield stamps! They were so handy when monies a bit tight...and mum could get hardwares too. Now all you get is loyalty cards with Sainsburys and Tesco with a lickle £2.50 off when you spend a hundred pound first!!!!

I saw some of the furniture in that sitting room and it reminded me of my parents' furniture.Life was really simpler in those days. It's true what they say "money isn't everything" peace and simplicity is the most important things. Also because this a nostalgic clip of a black family in the late 70's.This period in black history whether in the West Indies,Africa or Black Britain we were still in the struggle for equality and therefore despite our adversity we still valued FAMILY VALUES!
im only 24 but i the Christmas parties used to be great! That was the only time we could even get near to the front room. Me an my cousin used to hide in the room with all the coats.
This was wicked. It took me wayyyyy back. The wallpaper/carpet combo, babycham, stones ginger wine, green shield stamps and last but not least - the picture of the last supper, who didn't have one of those. This has brought a huge smile to my face. Thanks
Oh My Gosh!!!!! That just brought back sooooo much memories of my childhood!!! I swear, you must have crept into my front room back in Rotherhithe and took those pictures!!! Everything is JUST sooooo accurate! LOVE IT!!!!!
Oh my Gosh! my Grandma's front room was just like that, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and the last supper picture really brings back memories, when ever I buy ginger wine at chritstmas It reminds me of my grandparents and those times back then and drinking it out of those tiny chic glasses from the glass cabinet when we had "Guests" really enjoyed whatching this - nice one!
Great Job. Well done in putting this together - certainly remember the "Last Supper" Picture on the wall in the dinning room - think its upstairs under the bed these days!

I remember my parents collecting those Green Sheild Stamps, and cashing them in @ the Co-Op for stationary for back to school in the 70's lol lol, I also, remember cleaning the front room, big responsibility lol lol,I even learnt how to crochet with the thin needle to make doilies for my mum and friends after soaking them in sugar water to stiffen. backinnadedays lol lol ...
