I think what killerzomb is refering to when he says it will damage the motors is the "WEIGHT" of the 240mah battery! not that i agree with him i think the msr has soo much power in reserve it can easily take the extra weight. I only flew 3 channel coax helis before i got the msr, all i can say is the blade msr ROCKS!!!
to all of you knobs out there saying this will damage your motor, it wont! it gives 250 mili amps for one hour the number is basicly how much juice it has not the power it gives it because thats the volts

seriously folks i heard a roumer somewhere on the internet that using a higher mah than 150 in your blade msr causes it to overheat and in a way spontainiously combust in mid needless to say this is very dangerous so i would not suggest u use higher than 150 mah :)

wow your strange lol but that aside why are dodging my basic point that longer flight times can cause to burned out motors ppl i would not reccomend this mod as i know that excessive heat WILL break your motor!
Ive answered you a while back that the motor reaches it max temp after 1 min, I havent dodged anything.... perhaps with my previous comment on education you should also include reading... it may help
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
hahaha i dont need to and tbh i could giv a shit and really dont even want to find out all i know and you can ask any experienced rc pilot is that longer flight times heat up brushed motors and excessive heat which with your batteries would be quite easy to achieve can burn out your motor GAME OVER
No , you do give shit, and it toys in your mind, you feel you know everything, but alas, you dont, now I dont mind helping people that dont know things about helicopters, but people who pretend to be great, superiror, and so forth never really get to enjoy the hobby, perhaps you should choose something like a Meccano set and make something, grab it with your hand and make those funny faces as you grab it and make motor sounds as you push along a table while dribble falls out of your mouth
Your simply a child... you remind me of the incredible stories they can make up and try to make you believe it, and you simply just look at them and think ohhhh.... thats cute.... its OK all children go through that stage in their life.... I just hope your not an adult that hasnt grown out of that stage yet... , enjoy, dont give up school, and learn something, education is paramount, trust me youll need it.... good luck with your endeavors (oh that word means attempt to achieve something) ....
lol he just simply doesnt understand that helicopter motors arnt the same as car motors LOL yes the mah wont damage the battery but the increase in flight time 20 mins on 2 batterys will lead to risk of burned out motors due to overheating FACT deal with it
OK Mr Figjam, what is it exactly that destroys the motor, do you really know, tell me what it is as in material type and why this material degrades and also how long it takes to reach the temperature. This is going to take you a while to research and answer because you simply dont know the answer otherwise you would retract your comments An electric motor is made up of many items, tell me what it is that degrades due to heat and then tell me it makes a difference in time, come on do it.
But the "fact" is that your clueless, and you make statements without any basis or proof to back you up in any of your "claims" or "warnings" you could run one of the motors for weeks on end or 1 mins and the temperature would be the same, did you know that?
No you dont because you dont even own a mSR, your to busy flying your MCX thinking your really good at flying helicopters. Well thats whats been said about you. the mSR is a different helicopter dont think to yourself it is the same.
And one day, maybe you can get into CP heli's and you might even get to do figure 8's, then after a year a flip, and then maybe 2 years later hover the heli inverted, maybe.... but you should stick to your MCX at least that way you will feel like your a good pilot....
maH is the capacity of fuel for this motor... OK lets talk capacity, you know your motor for your car runs on fuel, so lets imagine you put an extra petrol tank in your boot, now we have double the petrol capacity, does this mean your motor now can get more power? No it doesnt, so what would make you think that it would? And now lets talk about the distance you drive, if you take a run up to the shops 5 time or 1 trip that is 5 times longer does that make a difference? again no... sorry... logic
hahah yea saying there shit and not to do them unless ur completely out of your mind seriously ppl im an experienced rc pilot and do not recommend u do this mod or the quite ridiculous brushless mod it just wont end in a good way shame on you gourvelos for doing these quite frankley silly and time wasting mods
In your OPINION. these coreless motors can take a beating and keep right on flying. heck, even the walkera brushless motors do not get that kind of flight time. Well, it is walkera and we all know how crappy their motors are. even when they have brushless ones! This is a 1 ounce heli. Its not like it has to carry a ton of weight around.
I recently bought a mSR from my local hobby shop. (Gotta' support the local economy.) I was torn between the Walkera V100D01 and the Eflite mSR. Brushless and flybarless seemed like a good idea, but I went with the mSR because my hobby shop doesn't deal Walkera, and I wanted easy access to parts.
I've been really happy with the mSR even though I'm a complete newb. (I have previously only flown cheap IR controlled, 3 channel department store helis.)

Do you really? hhahaahaahhhaaa omg you make me laugh, your really clueless, and also if you bothered to go into the forum you will see I own 2x mSR's. 1 totally stock and the other fully modded, however both run the 240maH batts, eFlite have even commented on my mods.
people dont u think u should ask yourslef how so many different people are replying to my comments lol since this vid doesnt exactly get a lot of views i find it very suspicious lol stop making multiple accounts gourvelos!
hahaha fairplane u are either gourvelos or a friend of his please dont try and trick the other people who might view this video and decide to do this very dangourous mod
I have had 123 flights on my msr (yes, I actually keep a record) and both motors are going fine. When I fly it, I usually fly it back to back batteries. I usually end up with roughly 24 minutes flight time per session without resting the helicopter any longer than pulling out the battery and putting in the new one. No motor problems here, so I can fully believe him getting that many flights off of a coreless motor.
Elias lives in New Zealand-I live in Canada. I only know him through RC Groups. I am an industrial hydraulic technician. I checked my radio timer-23 hrs on the MSR. I just did a test with my temp gun. I ran the MSR tied down-wide open throttle-240 mah zippy. Starting temp was 21.5C I checked temp at 1 min intervals-the highest it got was 23C on main motor-24C on tail total run tome was 6min 37 sec this test is very hard on the MSR as it is tied down and load is at MAX Final bat temp 23C
ok then but does he seriously expect us to believe he has had 350 flights on a stock msr without even buring out 1 motor if so eflight should get some sort of award i seriously doubt hes had over 350 10 mins flight on coreless motors
Well I have over 100 flights on mine and I find no reason why Elias would lie-he has nothing to gain. I have found his info very valuable and I am envious of his flight abilities
friends i am simply pointing out the truth this man should oppologise to all that have done this mod because allthough he might deney it the simple fact is the longer u fly these without rest the the hotter the motors get and u saying youve had over 350 flights without having to repair the motors yea maybe coz u have a brushless setup alot of people who will do this mod do not! so i think u owe the peoples motors that have burned out an oppology
The biggest factor in burning out these motors on the MSR is due to keeping power on during crashes. I have been using the 240 mah zippies since Aug with my MSR and I love them. Elias has 2 MSR's-1 is completely stock and the other is brushless. Elias has given invaluable advice on RC Groups- just check out the 720 pages there. People can make up their own minds as to mod or not- It is NOT Elias's fault- everyone has a mind of their own and should do proper research before modding!
Blade MSR may not be designed for 10min flights but I can just about assure you that those who are looking at all these mods for this heli are aware of the consequences....hmmm shortened life of motor with 10min flights......Who cares they wear out anyway. At least 10min flights gives one lots of practice..Enjoy I say!!
Enjoy Is The Word! I have nearly 350 flights on one of my mSR's with the 240maH batteries and the motors are still going strong. if you work that out at being double in time for flight well it hasnt cost me $10 to replace a motor yet.... heh I spent more on coffee in one single day than the cost of one replacement motor.with this battery mod I did well over 2 months ago. Elias
the blade msr is NOT desighned for 10 minute flight times and you making a video promoting the idea of such thing is highly irrisponsible and since the msr has coreless motors and not brushless 2 flights in a row with 10 minute flights could well kill your motors over a period of time. So with this in mind and your past comment i am seriously doubting your credentials as an electrical engineer hang your head in shame sir
heh... I really cant be bothered teaching you 1st year basic electronics.... but feel free to verify that the motor will draw a maximum current regardless if you have a 1000maH or 130maH battery.
Heat generated is no more using laser temp probe to verify as max temp is reached in around 1min of flight.
Please stop this... your really making a fool of yourself. I dont like doing this to people, but I just dont want others disadvantaged by people like you who have no proof to their claims...
@Gourvelos Exactly! The motor will use what it needs, no more, no less. Unless you're throttling down, or short it out somehow. It all boils down to Ohm's law.
correction it will burn your motor out due to inexperienced pilots flying multiple high mah batteries without giving the motors time to cool down and with coreless motors this is very important so friend i say to u shame on you for not pointing this out to other rc heli enthusiasts
people do NOT do this mod it could burn out the motors in your msr if u want extra flight time get the 150mah eflight ones very irrisponsable of u sir to make a vid like this
really, I am an electrical engineer, care to enlighten me with your theory as to why you would think a larger capacity battery would burn your motor out? its like a fuel tank for a car, think about it for a moment then reply....
killerzomb, I'm really starting to understand that you really dont know much about helicopters at all and based on your other comments about your ability well lthis comment of a higher capacity battery burning your motors only shows that you are very inexperienced in all aspects. Its like having a larger fuel tank in your car, does this burn your car motor? I know it is hard for you to understand, but that is the simplest way to explain it to you. Please read and learn before you comment.
I just bought the mSR, been watching your vids, loving the info, thank you man!
My question is about the batteries, I was thinking of trying the 8.5g 350mAh version. I would like your opinion on the added weight versus those 240s everyone else is using.
Let me know what you think, if it would be to much weight and not enough gain, that kinda thing.
The 240maH batteries have already added too much weight, I am looking for 180maH or 200maH batteries so that the weight can come down, on my stock mSR the added weight is just borderline, any more weight and the motor will struggle way too much, but on my brushless mSR the added weight is not an issue at all, however the lighter the better always. So dont go larger every 0.5g makes a difference to it
I have picked up several different batteries, a couple 240s a couple 180s and a 220. Going to see which does what. The 180s I got look meant for the msr too, no modifications needed.

I have found his info very valuable and I am envious of his flight abilities

friends i am simply pointing out the truth this man should oppologise to all that have done this mod because allthough he might deney it the simple fact is the longer u fly these without rest the the hotter the motors get and u saying youve had over 350 flights without having to repair the motors yea maybe coz u have a brushless setup alot of people who will do this mod do not! so i think u owe the peoples motors that have burned out an oppology
tut tut

I have nearly 350 flights on one of my mSR's with the 240maH batteries and the motors are still going strong. if you work that out at being double in time for flight well it hasnt cost me $10 to replace a motor yet.... heh I spent more on coffee in one single day than the cost of one replacement motor.with this battery mod I did well over 2 months ago. the blade msr is NOT desighned for 10 minute flight times and you making a video promoting the idea of such thing is highly irrisponsible and since the msr has coreless motors and not brushless 2 flights in a row with 10 minute flights could well kill your motors over a period of time. So with this in mind and your past comment i am seriously doubting your credentials as an electrical engineer hang your head in shame sir
killerzomb 2 years ago
Gourvelos 2 years ago
@Gourvelos Exactly! The motor will use what it needs, no more, no less. Unless you're throttling down, or short it out somehow. It all boils down to Ohm's law.

correction it will burn your motor out due to inexperienced pilots flying multiple high mah batteries without giving the motors time to cool down and with coreless motors this is very important so friend i say to u shame on you for not pointing this out to other rc heli enthusiasts
killerzomb 2 years ago
people do NOT do this mod it could burn out the motors in your msr if u want extra flight time get the 150mah eflight ones very irrisponsable of u sir to make a vid like this
killerzomb 2 years ago
really, I am an electrical engineer, care to enlighten me with your theory as to why you would think a larger capacity battery would burn your motor out? its like a fuel tank for a car, think about it for a moment then reply....
Gourvelos 2 years ago
killerzomb, I'm really starting to understand that you really dont know much about helicopters at all and based on your other comments about your ability well lthis comment of a higher capacity battery burning your motors only shows that you are very inexperienced in all aspects. Its like having a larger fuel tank in your car, does this burn your car motor? I know it is hard for you to understand, but that is the simplest way to explain it to you. Please read and learn before you comment.

Hey Gourvelos,
I just bought the mSR, been watching your vids, loving the info, thank you man!
My question is about the batteries, I was thinking of trying the 8.5g 350mAh version. I would like your opinion on the added weight versus those 240s everyone else is using.
Let me know what you think, if it would be to much weight and not enough gain, that kinda thing.
again, love the videos!

TheRoostCrew 2 years ago
where did you get the 180's ?
Gourvelos 2 years ago
'Kyosho Minium' style 180mha Battery - 2 Pack
Item# ACDB-1001
From miniavaiation, a UK based company I think.
