the 1st gen B16A, depending on the car, puts between 110-115hp to the ground. So with cams, completely upgraded induction system, practically straight piped exhaust, and a pb tune, you only picked up 30-35whp? You need to take it to get tuned by some pros dawggie.
they were ok, a lot cheaper than skunk2s... they are a high rpm cam though, so if you can get your revs higher and useful up there it makes a difference. mine had max hp at redline
damn thats cheap hp i would rebuild it and run itr pistons cuz fot damn sure its not runnin well b16a start at 165 to the wheel and it would have mad potential in that car lightest car ever and cleaner than any honda
@jertech1996...there is not a single b16 ever that has a rating of 165hp. First of all, all hp tq ratings you see on sites is measured at the crank, not the wheels. When a 1st gen b16a has a 160hp and 111 ft lbs and a 2nd gen b16a has 170hp and 116 ft lbs, its measured at the crank. Most bone stock b16's with bolt ons, I/H/E, usually put down between 135-155 whp depending on the condition of the rings. Just a lil FYI holmes!
dude i had to put u in my favorite cus i had one of these and im in love with this cars but now i got a 240sx if u go to my acount u can see a video of me running a talon by my house
144HP isn't impressive unless you do weight reduction. It probably doesn't hardly have any torque which is what actually matters instead of how much work/HP the engine does at the wheels.
My 150cc scooter gets better quarter time than that thing will, and it got a 6HP to 210Lb ratio. My stock 89 SI had more power than that thing just by changing the throttle body, and pullys.
i fdount ur scooter has a better time the stock specs on a 88-91 b16 is 160hp 111tq. but this motor seems to not be in that great of condition. on a full strip down rebuild it would have potential but not in this ugly sedan.
HAHAHA HOLY SHIT A PIMP (what we call 89-91 civic sedans in San Diego) my homie had one with a b16 too, we smoked a grip of cars in one day. 144 hp? very impressive. 5/5 dude, gotta show respect to dem pimps G.
did you convert your ecu to obd-1 or obd-2, cause you cant make any real power running obd-0. i've got a stock 1st gen b16a and im sure its putting down more then that, closer to 160whp(i/h/e).
@aaronhume i gotta a b18 ls vtec i wanted to get stage 2 but people have told me to just get stage 1 but i dont want to be disappointed with the results what should i get?
@ZxMURDER if you are building it properly, do stage 2. they recommend valve springs and retainers, but if you aren't over-revving you would probably be ok if you don't upgrade those.
It just won't stop revving lol

But your standard SI engine doesn't have as much potential.

Says who? Compare the price to rebuild a B vs a D.

then compare it to an LS1

@J0hnnySw1f7 HP TQ ratings are measured at the crank not the wheels. That motor is just fine. Start doing some reading so you can learn something ;)

best quarter mile time was 14.99, the power wasn't as much as I had hoped. now I am on to a new project though

i probably should have gone OBD1, would have made tuning eaiser/cheaper too. but it was OBD0

not to good for a b16...stock they have 160 and that is the 88-91 model b16...this one is probably in bad condition.
