Tuning I belive is FACGCD with the seen capo on 2. Very close to Don Ross's tuning on Midnight March, but a half step up on the bass. I think Joni used this tuning a bit too.

Unless you play the guitar well it's difficult to appreciate the complexity behind this song. On his right hand, his thumb is picking the bass line, while the other fingers are doing the melody. If you're not used to it, it'll make you want to throw your guitar out the window.

Ah, I love love LOVE this song! Thing is though, I actually enjoy listening to it more on the album, because it has a far different sound. The albums tone is so... soft and soothing, and AMAZING vibrato. If you haven't gotten his album yet, go buy it. Right now. Run.
FACGCE tuned one half step down (can't remember the exact notes). and yeah i just finished learning the whole song from video and its not toooo hard. Except the part at 00:31 was kinda tough, im not even sure i have it exactly right.
oh and btw the tuning is FACGCD but with a capo on 1st fret (or you could do it the way he does and tune up another half step) just in case you wanted to give it a go yourself
The "Chorus" like at 00:20 is so good!! It's just 10 seconds....but wow!! It makes me think of the last scene of a movie: a guy had a terrible year at work, but he finally gets a better job. And I can see him walking down the street, totally happy with this "chorus" on the background!

no necessarily true. some songs are just harder to hear what they're doing exactly and the tabs can be a guideline to help you out. i figure out some songs by ear but use tabs for help sometimes too. it doesnt mean its outa my league. i love how people swear on learning songs by ear but probably cant even do it themselves too...
I sincerely doubt you hear in perfect pitch, or that you've had ear training, so why bother saying that? Also, I enjoy buying Andy Mckee's (As well as other candyrat musician's) tabs because it's my way to support the artist. As I know probably all of us here are guitar players this song has got to make you envious for its simple beauty. Its refreshing to know that all that skill and technique can produce such a soulful chill song. I'm definitely going to try to learn this one.

the drummer is probably just some little kid people lol. I myself am a drummer,who plays guitar, mandolin, bass, fiddle, accordian, tin whistle, and piano. This guy has huge talent, even his rendition of jingle bells shows that. little drummer boy,become a well rounded musician instead of just a drummer, drummers are a dime a dozen.

Alright...back to the music posted here please. Keep the conversation about Erick, or music, in the positive sense. Not some drummer. Erick is probably the most versatile musician, who can play metal (mind blowing electric guitar), punk, classical, etc. Thanks for coming out drummer boy!

(im just a drummer) but i do like all of candyrats artists. about the tabs comment, im no elitist i was just goofin around. so drop it.
oh and by the way this guy sux compared to my guitarist. he only plays metal and its brutal.

actually you have got it half write if not backwards all together. he writes what sounds great, if it needs to be more technical he will add that. he contributes to the song (played by a band, not solo musician) and btw disregard the 'metal' comments im just dickin the dog.

i learned to play andy's song drifting from tabs.
if u have a decent ear and a copy of the recording tabs can be just as good as sheet music.
plus i think tabs are a little more of a reasonable request then one for sheet music.

no necessarily true. some songs are just harder to hear what they're doing exactly and the tabs can be a guideline to help you out. i figure out some songs by ear but use tabs for help sometimes too. it doesnt mean its outa my league. i love how people swear on learning songs by ear but probably cant even do it themselves too...

I sincerely doubt you hear in perfect pitch, or that you've had ear training, so why bother saying that? Also, I enjoy buying Andy Mckee's (As well as other candyrat musician's) tabs because it's my way to support the artist. Sure, they're expensive as well, but as long as he's not a rich man I'll continue to support him. I want these guys to continue making beautiful music, so I'll do whatever I can do help them

Congrats on being an ignorant elitist! What bearing does reading tabs have on somebody's ability to actually play the guitar? None. You could fully sight read and still be shit at guitar, or you could fully read tabs and be good at guitar. And vice versa. Shut up and go back to your ignorant cave of perpetual masturbation. TY. my problem with his comment wasn't that he was an elitist.. i mean there's a lot of elitists out there, and you'll come across their opinions pretty often. my problem was that it was also just generally misinformed/uneducated, out of the 10 million or however many guitarists there are on this planet, you would be lucky to find 1 that can read music in alternate tunings. Pierre Susan can read in dadgad, but he's one of the greatest fingerstylers to ever live, and even he can't read inothertunings

As I know probably all of us here are guitar players this song has got to make you envious for its simple beauty. Its refreshing to know that all that skill and technique can produce such a soulful chill song. I'm definitely going to try to learn this one.
