Sadly. i feel that as long as religion exists, racism will exist too. To Follow a religion generally means that you think other religious groups and athiests are morally corrupt people, and this in turn leads to racism against those other groups.
I hope it is not too long before the human race moves out of its tempermental teenage years and grows up to face our problems properly - and as a united people.
yeah,I agree. But I hate the way that religion and racism are interlinked though. Many white people are Muslims, and many Asians are Christians. So allot of people judge on colour and match that stereotype to the religion that face is normally associated with.
But there is good and bad in everyone, just people refuse to pull their ignorant heads out of the sand!!
Aye, and the same goes for Japanese, mexican, tibetan, isrealite, norwiegen, and the dutch...to name a few...Common sense, really...Not much of an issue here....'Cept for your common everyday xenophobe!
As for me, I'm sick of being told I should be proud of my "culture". I don't take any more pride in being part of the Anglo empire or of my French culture than I take pride in the Greek, Arab, etc. cultures that made those possible. Racism is nonsense because there is no such thing as a pure race or culture. Diversity doesn't come from everyone maintaining "their" culture, but from individuals taking what they like from all cultures and making it their own!
Ye... but God is dead, didn't you get the memo? Tradition is useful where it makes it easier to communicate by providing a common 'bagage'. But adaptation is never really one-way and tradition also serves to maintain the status quo, which includes the ruling class. Progression often comes from forsaking one's traditions, such as the adoption of french derived writing by the Anglos.
the arbitrary complexity of the french language was intended to keep knowledge in the hands of the aristocrats. Yet I am supposed to love everything about it because I happen to have been born in a french family. Language not only defines how we communicate, but also to a large extent how we think which is why I am a proponent of the adoption of constructed languages designed for unambiguous communication and free of semantic traps meant to make us think in dualistic terms.
It's also the reason I think multilingualism is a good thing. I don't wish the death of natural languages either; I can handle a couple and find the access to different cultures and ways of perceiving the world should be motivation enough to learn them.
HEH, You have just confirmed the exact thing I've been harping on for the last 10 yrs! Though, I've touched on the general theory here, You've voiced my own, as far as the social perspective is concerned!
It's rare to see someone else share this perspective...Too many people aren't even aware of the fact that race, and culture are symbiotic to each other, and NOT one in the same!
Yeah, that 'white man' club assumption is interesting. Colleagues, taxi drivers, random strangers will just spout forth without the possibility that you don't agree or find their view repulsive ever entering their minds.
True, racism is only in the eye of the beholder as if you think about it, were all born from the same race (were all mostly humans) so if your black, gay or even french :P your still human and hence the same race and people will always want to blame others that don't affect them whatso ever but I'm glad to see someone else has noticed it other then me, keep on rocking dude
BTW, though I prefer the urgency inherent in your edited videos, I think I get what you're trying to do with these. It's engaging in an entirely different way. Wanted to give you a shout so you know you're appreciated. "I can feel myself getting richer." Haaa!
Whenever I'm dealing with someone who doesn't speak english very well I always go right to that "This person is an idiot" mentality. I know this isn't the reality of the situation - it's a knee jerk reaction. Something I have to consciously think about and work to overcome.
yet another good one, Did anyone notice the tags? bat infested guano kwaichi youtube anti racism anti-racism collaboration naruto... lol thats pretty funny.
and that, in my opinion is well.. not very cool. if you want to come to america.. fine!, if you want a job here? Great!, but have the nessisary skills damnit!
and all of the workers shifted.. from a mix of cultures to only brazilians... now, i suppose i could be fine with this, but non of them could really understand or speak english very well, and thus could not provide me with appropriate services
I agree, racism is utter stupidity, from any standpoint. cultural, genetic, etc. though on the language point, i have been visiting various Dunk'n Doughnuts, about the area as of late, (not that i like the place, but when im at work i need coffee and thats the only place i can get to)
The more adamant a man's justification for racism is, the more of a jackass he just might be...people, contemplate your racist beliefs, it's a great indicator your jackass index!
im proud to be english man. people start on me due to the british empire and i ask them would they rather have been conqured by us, the conquistadores or the ottomans. (both were fond of anally impaling people) im usually left alone after that.
Man, how big is your friggin' house? Good lord, you were walking a lot there.
Racism is full of double standards, mostly against white people. It sucks. I hate racism in general. I dealt with it a lot as a kid, being raised Jewish.
You could say racism *is* a double standard. It's true that poor whites are the only people it's cool to put shit on, if that's what you're getting at.
I was getting at the fact that if a white man insults a black man, it's racism, but vice versa, it's just an insult. There's an interesting little piece on it, I saw it in a Myspace Bulletin, I'll try to find it and send you a message.
like he said, people call them stupid becuase there english isnt good. (not non existant) one thing i have noticed is that stupid people tend to have difficulty understanding accents.
Racism can exist in any culture to an extent. As human beings, we seem to be programmed to hate those that are different. For example, I am Mexican American who was adopted by white people and so I act "white". I am ridiculed for this constantly by fellow Mexican Americans because they say I act too "white". I am called a coconut, etc etc.. The point is, I am sick of white, brown, black, etc, people looking at my skin color and expecting me to act or talk a certain way based on that!
Sadly. i feel that as long as religion exists, racism will exist too. To Follow a religion generally means that you think other religious groups and athiests are morally corrupt people, and this in turn leads to racism against those other groups.

This is the EXACT excuse "Parroted" by white supremists!
Racism is NOT about showing pride, or cultural identity..It's about exibiting CONTEMPT, and aggression towards others who don't share the same...
Racism, doesn't HAVE to be about "Hate" it can be contempt, fear, and favouratism...
But I really don't think it matters anyways, as we're about to render our species moot...Get your sunscreen ready folks!

Hear, hear! Let's break it down even further...
Culture is simply a tradition practiced by a certain
group/tribe of people that has been influenced
by thier enviromental proximity, and what god they
worship.
Culture is learned/unlearned, so it falls under behavior
therefore it can be changed to suit one's adaptation
to new enviroments...That, my freind is the core of
man's progression!

And it's a good example for me:
