they need to have moto-X style dog tracks, my English Bulldog loves running, for a few moments, on R/C and BMX tracks he handles the doubles just like a motorcycle and stays low flying over the table tops however, he doesn't do too well on the whoop section

think about it dogs jumping, hitting a berm drifting though corners it would be awesome

I love Scottish Deerhounds, Irish wolfhouds (happy St Patrick's day) and the Borzoi.  However, I would never get one because of how short lived they are and all the health problems.

Lovely Deerhounds. I Lure Course my Whippets and love watching all the Sighthounds run. And for the Great Dane question...there all All Breed Lure Course Clubs that let all types of dogs run. I've seen Pit Bulls, Bull Dogs, Siberians and Boston Terriers run it...they all love it. But proper training and conditioning is a must if you compete....fat or out of shape dogs get HURT !

lol, why would anyone race great danes, they arent a sight hound, i mean yes people race terriers at shows but thats just for a laugh, compare the great dane to a scotch deerhound or an irish wolf hound or any other sighthound, they are built for speed, a great dane is a guard dog, i doubt it would be the most exciting of races...

You should try reading a bit more history before sounding really stupid. Danes were used to hunt deer and boar- a job they were selectively bred to do. You should read more and type less if you want to sound more intelligent.

i am sorry, i had always been under the impression that they had been bred as guard dogs, obviosly i was wrong, but a number of people that i know have got danes, and i have yet to see a very fast one, at least in comparison to sight hound breeds, they arent running dogs, and therefor the assumption would be that they arent bred for running... i will look into the history of the dane, as it is always nice to know more. thank you for the opportunity to expand my knowledge, i will get back to you.

they are alot more than half mastiff, they may have had wh blood put in somewhere along the line, but they arent half and half. modern wolfhounds are useless. bred too big, (due to being outcrossed to great danes to bring the breed back from the brink of extinction) have you seen wolfhounds run, fuck all grace or elegance, not atall agile. any dog lover can see that a dog that cant do a job is not much of a dog atall. its showbred wreck. danes are even more clumsy.

i am not a fan of oversized dogs, as they have back problems are shorter lived and easier to cripple than the lighter and smaller sighthounds. i love deerhounds, but over thirty inches is silly and anyone who has used a dog to hunt deer will tell you this, the bigger the dog the harder the hunt, small dogs catch deer but dont hold as easy. danes are used for hunting pigs in some places, but god knows why. they are ok as a holding dog, but a dogo will do it better and is faster anyway.

Have you ever seen a greyhound? Their fur is short to begin with and they have no body fat. The only mammal on the planet that can outrun them (at 45 mph), is the cheetah. Shaving any of the sight hounds is unnecessary, they can catch anything that runs.

lol, a true genius, the dog is perfectly designed for its intended purpose, and it should be used for it, its supposed to hunt deer in scotland, and other cold regions, shaving the dog would only be of use in countries where the dog can overheat easily, and that is why if you look at native breeds of sighhound the coats are as good as they can get fo the climate, short hair for hot countries and longer hair for colder countries.
