@demon6937 32bit os' can only use a max of 3gb, any higher and you will have to have a 64bit processor and 64x os'

If you're upgrading from XP then you'll have to do a clean install as mentioned in the video. The same thing if you're at, for an example 32 bit vista and wanna upgrade to 64 bit 7, you gonna to do the same thing.

I had my hopes up then, I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit and I have bought Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and i thought you couldn't install it because you will need Home Premium or Ultimate, and it said on the site that for upgrade edition you cannot do a clean install, had me all worried

well yes but you have to buy Windows 7 Full which is like 50 dollars more than the upgrade edition

No but you can do a clean install from within the os, and the upgrade disk will activate, IE no paid previous version of windows is needed.

This is not true when installing from a raw hard drive.

You can make a fresh install with the upgrade version. Don´t type the product key during install because you have to do a little "workaround" after the install. After the "workaround" you can type the product key and activate Windows. Take a look at Windows SuperSite website for more info.

I did a fresh install with from Vista Ultimate just booted the CD up at start up like you would do any other time to install fresh or reformat.

its the professinoal version, but you have to select it, its not too obvious where but it says somewhere that if you require somesort of networking feature exclusive to pro, u will need that, so make sure u look for that.

If you have Xp you HAVE to reformat your drive but if you got Vista you can just upgrade from Vista.

64bit is able to use more ram wile 32bit can only use bout 3.5 gig of ram if u have more than 3.5 gig then go with 64bit

Eityherr way, isn't the key stsill valid say if you some how obtain Windows 7 professional media that is not the upgrade disk (IE: Using an OEM disk for example?)

IIRC, the work around with upgrade install with vista was to install it twice.
