@bergaflickal This was Marty's last NHL game. He was officially suspended for a full year, but he was too radioactive for anyone to give him another shot, and was basically forced to retire. It's too bad too. Yes, this was an awful incident, and I can't really argue against his banning, but Marty was a stand-up guy. I'm sure most will only remember him for this incident, but I also remember him sticking up for his teammates and for his brilliant assist on Gretzky's record breaking 802nd goal.

He had nothing to show to anybody, McSorley faced the most feared enforces along the 80´s and 90´s, even in his final seasons (36-37 years old). He suffered a severe concussion, a seizure on the ice, and the blow was so severe, that the law got involved sentencing McSorley to 18 months of probation. You must be a moron (i.e. a Boston sports fan) because you're making assumptions about someone you don't know. I actually hate the Canucks, and like the Bruins, but clearly you don't let facts get in the way of your opinion...

He knew his role, and he was also a great fighter, better than McSorley and many others... At least he would actually fight, unlike Ulfey. And he didn't specialize in the cheap shot either. @bergaflickal This was Marty's last NHL game. He was officially suspended for a full year, but he was too radioactive for anyone to give him another shot, and was basically forced to retire. It's too bad too. Yes, this was an awful incident, and I can't really argue against his banning, but Marty was a stand-up guy. I'm sure most will only remember him for this incident, but I also remember him sticking up for his teammates and for his brilliant assist on Gretzky's record breaking 802nd goal.

Obviously, I am not justifying this action, however just realise how enforces would feel after getting in a fight, after that seeing your opponent starts to dust off the hands and in the final period you challenge again him and the another one refuses it.

True, McSorley´s action was not fair, anyway, sometimes it is important to analyse how things happen. He had nothing to show to anybody, McSorley faced the most feared enforces along the 80´s and 90´s, even in his final seasons (36-37 years old). Some Brashear´s actions in the ice (dust off the hands, cheap shots, etc) have brought responses. Actions like this, responses like that.

I think this was wose than the Bertuzzi Moore incident. Moore got what he deserved cause he was getting to gain a reputation for being a cheap shot artist having viciously crosschecked Lecavalier that season as well.Tortorella stated it was a brutal cross check. The heel is the hardest part of the stick and McSorely knew exactly what he was doing when this occurred! Could have killed Brashear! Even the Vancouver cops charged him with an assault with a weapon charge. Rightfully so!

I agree, Brashear broke the code by showing McSorley up, but Marty shouldn't have two handed him in the head. I realize Marty states that he was going for his shoulder, but he didn't hit the shoulder. Marty being the "class act" he was at the 4:33 mark gives a "eh, shit happens" look. That's also disgraceful to the code.

Marty should never have gone for his head and that was a jagoff move on his part and is the "disgrace I was mentioning. I never stated that because Brash showed him up, Marty had the right to smack him in the head. If anything, I'm stating that Marty is the asshole and Brash didn't deserve what happened.
