I think the best modern guitarists of today and the past as well have both musical knowledge combined with chops that blow your mind. This video of the Boz is a perfect example of such traits. Just a sweet performance of guitarical excellence in articulation, vibrato, and overall guitar showmanship.
I second that. Really good vibrato, which believe it or not, many guitar players completely ignore how to do virbrato correctly and they just wank it off when they think it should go somewhere. I like how you hold the note for just a second, THEN bring in the vibrato. Very professional sounding.
@dumapies Not true! A few of my LPs and SGs have 300K pots in the bridge to warm up the bridge pickup. You sound inexperienced? Many great guitarists with great tone have used stock LPs with 300Ks. I bet in a blid test you couldn't hear the difference between 300Ks and 500Ks.
A new Quick Rod sales for $1850.00. I own a Quick Rod and believe that they could sale for twice as much easily. There is not an amp close to it for that kind of money.
Yeah. After asking I wound up doing some research. Considering you can get all sorts of custom finishes/headshells too, it's an awesome deal. I payed more for my Mesa (stock!) than that.
quickrod sounds great with that LP. My QR is on order and should be here in the next few weeks. I cannot wait to put my LP Custom through it. GREAT VIBRATO!!!!
Man, awesome tone and playing. I'm looking hard at buying the QuickRod. I saw your comment below that this was in OD2. Which gear are you set at? Also curious with this amp being 2 channel if you can get a great powercord/rhythm tone along with a great lead tone without switching settings or gears. I would like to set and forget. I know this is personal taste, but what do you think? Your lead tone is awesome, just curious on what power chords sound like at this same setting. Thanks!
Thanks onceguilty,my Quickrod is the older version without the gears but i think the setting on the clip would be OD2 gear2,power chords sound huge on any setting on this amp.I really cannot fault this amp at all! cheers Mick.
Hey- Just need a clarification...you put the volume pedal in the effects loop? BTW-great playing and awesome tone. Was the amp on set 50 watts? What speakers are you using?
Thanks Steve, yeah the volume pedal is in the loop.Amp was on 50 Watts, speakers are celestion G12t-75s.I run the treble off and the presence at 9 o'clock.
Oh man...that's it, that's the tone I've been looking so hard for. I'm going to have to drive down to Oxford to test these Splawn amps out at Rebel Amps.
Sweet playing, sweet tone....Are you running straight in? Any effects?
Thanks Gearboy, speakers are celestion G12T-75s..but i put a bit of tape on the grill cloth over the centre of the speaker to reduce the highs a touch..
hahaha....the SRV trick! Nice. I heard the 75's are a decent match for the QR. I have V30's in my Bogner cab and I think there is too much high mid with the QR.
Cabs and speakers?

May I ask did you use 500k pots with the les paul?
mi2tom 3 years ago
Not sure whats in there to be honest.
CFCBOZ 3 years ago
@mi2tom
all humbucker fitted guitars have 500k pots as 250k pots will make the humbucker sound shit

@dumapies My PRS knockoff had 1 Meg pots and sounded pretty kick ass.
When it comes to guitars, just because something is standard doesn't make everything else shit. It just makes everything else unconventional.

hey could i get this type on tone with my Jcm800+ a sd-1?
OzzmanX30 3 years ago
Yeah. I think it would sound something in that style. Use some gain in the amp and usse the SD-1 to boost the amp.
If you got manual, there are settings for boost:
Level: 10/10
Gain: 0-1/10
tone: what you like.
Cool video bro. What kind of LP is that?

I have 5 things to say:
1. You are NOT helping my Splawn QR or LP GAS.
2. You have great tone.
3. Your vibrato is killer.
4. That pinch harmonic you grab at :41 is MONEY.
5. What model LP is that and what pickups are in it?
Great clip!
