  • very brief , funny, and easy to understand.... Good job;)

  • Very good! cool color effects.

  • looks more like a documentary look

  • It looks alittle overdone bro

  • pretty good but the blacks are too black and you are loosing detail in the picture.

  • who put a camera in a woman's hands!!! she ruined the whole thing. it was so shaky.

  • @Kennybenny19 - weren't you in a woman's hands when you were a baby? Perhaps she dropped you on your head.

  • make a tutorial please... :D

  • Sorry but I don't get ... do ya call this color CORRECTION? You made your footage look horrible ... sorry but I've to be honest on this one ... everyone has a different opinion on grading but is way too dark and not well graded. I know everyone wants that cool looking film look but this has nothing to do with film at all.

  • It's a wonderful technique. Watch out for contrast effects though if you're doing longer pieces, because by using contrast you're also reducing the palette to a fewer number of colors (fx. if you go all the way up on this clip you'll end up with flat black, green and maybe grey). You can preserve depth and have contrast in many ways fx. by lighting very hard while shoting with very low iris.

  • looks good

  • is it me or does he look like the tourettes guy?

  • What did u use for this.

  • Looks like he leaves to kill the kid. Quite eerie :D

  • lol have you seen the movie orange county? the color reminds me of it :), nice xD

  • In some places: too dark.

  • perfect.

  • wow, the before was drastically different, im really impressed!

what sort of editor and camera did you use? : )

  • Fantastic "not stop action" scene

  • cine-on AE?

  • to Dark.

  • this vidz haz too much blakz colorz zzzz

  • looks shitty

  • looks more like poor lighting than anything

  • @nuahsx I agree. The lights seem to be a problem. But the main thing the person was focusing on was getting the film look with color and contrast correction.

  • first one was better... in edited video too much blacks...

  • guys there are a lot of videos telling how to create a dilm look...These guys add black bars (aspect ratio),corret the colors ....In Correcting the colors we talk about photography. The mood we want to show to the viewer.

The film look is in my opinion is not the point of a good movie.

Now if you wanna have film look in you video you just record your scenes 24fps...

  • It's nice but I think you should convert it to 24p instead of 30p to get that moviie moving

  • thats pretty good

  • This is great! Can you explain me? (in private also) I've Final Cut Express ... thank you so much

  • looks good..what brand and model did you used to shot this?!!.. hope you answer.. thanks..

    Avilez dj

  • that looks like a scene from a real movie 5 stars but you have to clean your fish tank

  • 5 Stars, very cool

  • bwahahahha. i like how doofballish dude looks while screwing in the thing

  • Awesome! Look like hd :D 5/5 stars + sub and friend lol

  • you call that film look????

  • Really pointless clip, but nice color correction.

  • It's a test clip.

  • A bit more fill lighting on the character, steady pan and youre on a winner. good stuff

  • do you think so????????lol

  • that was ok

  • rofl i kno how ;p

  • This video's great to prove a point. Nice work

  • good job how you do it?

  • @megapowerfuldude

I'm suprised how many people ask, I just used some a color correct (or balance) to reduce the red hue, used a either "bump mapping" for a spotlight, or if your editor has it just use spotlight itself to get the vignette. Then bump up the contrast. You'll never get rid of the motion blur unfortunately. Real film has a the sharp motion exposure. All you can do is use as many lights as you can and manually adjust your shutter speed when shooting to as fast as possible.

  • @paterkiewicz Contrast is not what makes a movie look good. It's the dynamic range. Less it more.

  • @paterkiewicz Well in fact film look is achieved using a fixed shutter speed at 24p (1/48). It is done to keep the best motion blur vs sharpness. Some movies however are shoot with different shutter speed, but it is then to add another feel to the footage (stuttering/liquid feel...)

  • @paterkiewicz I know this is extremely old, but no, you should definitely not adjust your shutter speed to something fast. It should almost always be double the frame rate you're shooting. Obviously, rules are meant to be broken, but unless there's a reason you want your video to look like Saving Private Ryan, this is one that you should generally stick to.

  • @paterkiewicz do you use sony vegas? if so can you give the low down on it?

  • @paterkiewicz did you do it with after effects?

  • how do you get the look with the darkened corners?

  • Nice one, how did you do it? I'm just starting a movie project! Good work

  • omg amazing

    now tutorial this :D

  • Looks like you got some moiré going on with the computer monitor inyour shot. That will always give away that its video.

  • this man is such a good actor... impressive

  • @shixxor ahhahahahahahhahahahaha

  • @shixxor yea i was very impressed

  • @philsaddiction xD even his dog is like "WTF?"

  • @shixxor lol

  • nicee look

  • Very good job!!!

  • your dog it´s very similar to mine! haha

  • Good job, keep it up.

  • wow that looks good what software did you use?

  • how to do that film look can u tell me plz

  • good job

  • Cooowl.. Wich preset is it :D?

  • that looked awful. But I can see what you were going for.

  • your experiment was great, you just need to fix the lighting setup in the shooting location, this can help solving the issue of having too dark picture in the post

  • I know this was just a quick test -- but if you try it again, try a different lighting setup..be sure to get some back lighting and a fill light; it appears you just have a strong ceiling (key) light and some natural light from the other room. Contrast settings pick up in the contrast of light to dark - that's how they work. Having a greater difference in shadow to light will make that contrast (in the editing phase) more effective.

  • i think this is the only way to make video look close to film... boost the contrast and maybe custom adjust the whitepoint... but this does look good! ;) good job

  • i think you should lock the exposure too.

  • gr8

  • to dark, u shouldn't low the contrast that much.

  • it depends what kind of look she's going for it would be good if you wanted the Saw type of look

  • very good

  • There seems to be hanging a wall above him in the room. So, the original footage was already a bit of a problem. The film look effect is great though, the greens are beautifull. Just try it again on some other footage, with proper lighting :)

  • Of course I meant 'lamp' instead of 'wall'.

  • I like the sharper contrast, but it seems to be much darker, like he's walking in a spotlight.
