I'm an atheist, but I just wanted to point out that for example, the catholic church does not believe that atheists are going to hell if they live a decent life...
It's about time atheists spoke up like Jeff does here! Xtians want us to shut our mouths and roll over and get kicked over and over -that's bullshit folks! Maybe Jeff's an asshole about it sometimes, but if I were on that show I'd be worse than him.
I am offended by the idea that I am a worthless depraved sinner who is deserving of eternal punishment for my nature and some imaginary crimes. That idea IS offensive, whether or not I believe hell is real or that I will go there. It's disturbing that someone can't even understand that.
@BT3701 Well, I like Jeff Dee don't hesitate to insult any theist back who feels that telling me I'm bound for eternal torture is just dandy! You don't like it? -Don't read my comments
@BT3701 You said atheists express 'rage against God' and that's a moronic comment because atheists don't believe the god exists in the first place! You might as well say that we express rage against the easter bunny! You made a stupid comment and got called on it -Period. So get over yourself!
Jeff says decent thing, but he gets so emotional about it that it gets really hard to take him seriously, he should learn to control that because keeping your cool is an important part of argumentation. (glad my current english classes are actually helpful)
I consider Hell is merely a warning of an action from something that doesn't exist, so i don't get offended, Jeff didn't handle it too well here, his main zinger was "if you don't think I deserve to go there then quit" which is easier said than done for someone who believe their deity sends non believers to hell
I consider Hell is merely a warning of an action from something that doesn't exist, so i don't get offended, Jeff didn't handle it too well here, his main zinger was "if you don't think I deserve to go there then quit" which is easier said than done for someone who believe their deity sends non believers to hell
This is the exact reason why Christians try so hard to convert others, because they don't want anyone to tortured forever like that, which is generally why atheists are initially upset by Christians. It's a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.

If I receive a death threat, even if I don't consider it a clear and present danger, it's still at least a little bit bothersome that someone thinks I deserve to die. That's why the idea of Hell bothers me as an atheist, even though I don't believe it exists - because of what it says about the other person's beliefs, not what it says about mine.
Hell was made for the Angels who denied him along with people who deny he even exists .. The computer, Iphone, Cell phone, Laptop the chair your sitting in or the shoes your standing in was complexly designed by Man.. This world is too complex to be an accident.. If we can create things like that why Cant God exist and creation creation.. Find Jesus.. Love is Real.. Hell is the rejection of Love.
@bheceo Who said with any certainty that it was an accident? Just because something is complex doesn't mean that you can assume that there was creation involved. Just because humans are capable of designing what seem to us to be "complex" things, doesn't mean that the formation of the universe has to follow the same guidelines. Nobody can prove that the man named jesus ever existed with any degree of certainty, let alone that he is a messiah. Love has nothing to do with it, prove hell exists.
@ajax515 Thats the problem with todays Generation they have to see something to believe it.. thats not faith.. Jesus said your faith has saved you.. the writings of josephus mention Jesus and hes a well known historian of ancient times are you gonna say hes wrong when alot of people take stock in what he says
@bheceo First of all, sight is not the only way to demonstrate or experience something. That's actually the improvement of this generation as we are not as gullible as previous ones. I don't care what you think jesus said. Josephus' mentions aren't worth anything as he never met this "jesus" nor did any verifiable eyewitnesses.I will say that he is not credible proof of this "jesus'" existence. Even if you could prove that he existed, you cannot prove the miracles or claims of divinity.
"You are tearing me down. You're in a religion that says I deserve to be tortured forever.. voluntarily. If you don't think I deserve that - quit the religion."
Today a thiest made fun of me being an Atheist, in mid speech one of my theist friends slaped him across the face. It showed me there may be hope for us yet.
i'm sorry. i've been a life long apatheist, but Jeff, you sir, are a, how may i put it kindly, DICK.. you're doing the same circle dance creationists do, but just to place your wrath. and i for one, do not condole that. the caller calls his religion out as myth, yet you're on the attack. I'm not sure if it's for ratings, but I am appalled. And that, as they say, is that, sir.
@LilAbortedJesus Er, whats an "apatheist" is that like an apathetic atheist? (just joking) Look, I found it refreshing hearing someone offended by the Christian belief that us 'heathens' will exist after death in some state of eternal torture. Why shouldn't this repulsive violent belief offend us? Why is not ok to be upset about this? This belief was put in place as a way of CONTROLLING PEOPLE. It has no place in the modern world and stops us evolving as a species. Screw being polite about it!
@clumpft An apathiest, is one who cares not at all if god/s exist or do not. It would be great to get religion as far away from public policies as possible, and to tax the everloving shit out of them. But, it's a person's choice to believe or disbelieve. Not everyone who loves god, is a flat-earther, if you catch my drift. Religions are just another colour in the diversity of community. Though, they shouldn't get special privileges either.
@LilAbortedJesus ok, he's a dick because he doesn't like people asking him "why are you getting mad?" after having been told over and over and over again by the SAME GROUP that "you deserve to be tortured because you are a wicked, sinful human!!"
"yet you're on the attack."
no he's not. he was asked why atheists get mad. he responded with why he gets mad.
" I am appalled"
if you don't find that a good enough reason to get mad, then don't get mad, but it's a good enough reason to get mad.
I prefer Russell over Jeff....Jeff handled that wrong if you ask me. I'm not sure exactly how I would have, but I wouldn't have belittled the caller. I honestly just brush off the "You're going to hell!" statement...people have said it to me so often, I don't care anymore. Since I don't believe in hell. "If it gives you comfort, whatever dude."
@ShePlaysIt Well, I think Jeff acted that way because the caller asked why some atheists get upset with Christians, then went on to rationalize the responses and be condescending in his snickering and snide remarks. I've acted both like Russell and Jeff in those situations, it just depends on how it is presented.
@ShePlaysIt Well, I certainly don't just shake off "You're going to hell!", but there's a way to communicate one's disgust with that statement besides how Jeff managed it. Overall I prefer pretty much any other castmember to Jeff, indeed.
Whenever I get threats of hellfire from the religious, I just smile or laugh. Why get mad at a child that doesn't know any better? Why let that fear control you?
Interesting. Personally, I'm not offended by Christians at all. I'm just offended plainly at their morally and intellectually bankupt ideals and their show of arrogance. Just look a scumbags like Kirk Cameron, Ray Comfort and Paul Washer and what they deliver. Now that's the crap that I'm talking about. Not because I'm offended by some supposed hardcore religious truth but hardcore religious stupidity.
I do in fact think that is why you cant blame someone for your inconsistent system. It would make you laugh much like a fairy tale if you read mother goose you know it is fictional and there is no debate. Now when we see this come into play as far as Christians you are offended. How does it feel to be working towards the elimination of freedom?Hitler had the same ideas as these fools,is that not offensive to Jewish people? You guys are simply the product of failure. Its not Gods fault its yours.
@clawedification Ironic that you should bring up the fictional status of Mother Goose in the same comment asserting that your god with the same lack of evidence exists.
Im an atheist and i think what they are doing there is just wrong. I mean in the poor guy couldnt even talk. While i think it is ridiculous the whole idea of christianity i think its unfair to treat people like crap. There is a lot of christian Assholes but there are others who are really nice people, i never talk about this atuff with my friends bcuz it is their beliefs and even tho its a bunch if Crap, we should respect that
@0ChuckNorrisIsGod "i never talk about this atuff with my friends bcuz it is their beliefs and even tho its a bunch if Crap, we should respect that"
Even if it's bullshit, you don't care. Fine. Anything else you think we should be polite about? Holocaust denial? Moonlanding denial? Belief in aliens? Flat earth? Islamofascism?
When I see someone who believes shit that's so insane that it might cause harm to themselves or others - I tell them for the protection of them and their environment.
@0ChuckNorrisIsGod Your idea of caring about others seems to be that we should not intervene if someone walks onto the zebra crossing when the light is red. "Because it's their belief that it was green, and we should respect that".
@Gnomefro my point is not to teach em if they dont want to, if they wanna go cross the street its not YOUR buisness, if they wanna believe in something retarded its THEIR problem. u cant do anything to change that. when ur a little kid and u think ur daddy is the best person in the world and then some smart-ass comes and tells you ur dad is a loser how would u feel? of course if the guy is an asshole go on and play with his mind
This presenter gets way too upset. If this presenter didnt agree with with the Iraq war for example, does he leave the country? I dont think so.
So his argument of leaving the christian faith because of disagreeing with certain teachings is a weak point.. Most people dont agree with anything 100%
@TheNomad1970 Your analogy isn't even remotely the same. He's not just "living" there, he's outright worshiping, calling it just and perfect then saying "I don't think it's just" contradicting his own faith and worship.
Example, although not to the near extreme of eternal torture, is if someone walked down the street and called you a dirty "insert random racist word here" fucker. Whether or not true wouldn't matter, it'd still be offensive.
While they make an excellent point, I still recognize that Christians don't mean ill by saying "bless you." It isn't a benediction, it is a wish of good health. And that is positive. Yeah, Christians think I deserve hell, and it offends me, but I think there are better places to take issue with Christianity than after sneezing.
What their saying is the equivalent of implying that since I live next to a bad high school, I should go there even though I know it could destroy my future, just out of courtesy to the people going there. As an agnostic, I'd like to see more people join my belief, but I understand that from a Christian's standpoint, what I did was like putting a gun to my head of my own accord. Sorry for the essay, but these guys are assholes.
saying "god bless you" to me is like saying "pick that cotton, nigger" to a black guy. LAWLZ
you see, i try not to think about how the religion of others affects me; politics, laws, etc. and when a christian says "GBY", it's like ripping open a wound....
so when you mention nigger or slavery to a black guy, it pisses him off because you just reminded him that he's black.....more lawlz
but yea, keep you're beliefs to yourself....EVERYONE!!!!!
You conceited clown, you assume I want you to take me seriously? I could not care less what an attention seeking, airhead thinks. Reply directly to you, ha ha, go away.
I kinda think it might have been helpful if Jeff asked what denomination of Christianity the caller was. JW's, for example, don't even believe in the standard conception of the fiery torture-chamber kind of Hell that many Christians are terrorized by. Their conception of Hell is about the same as an athiest's idea of just being physically dead.
@pompousprick (There's a thing called a reply button. You want me to actually take you seriously, use it. Until then...) AIRHEADS? WHERE?!?! My favorite flavor is strawberry. What's your's?
Why do you feel you need to respond at all? Ego? There's nothing worse than a comment troll with a "I'm so intelligent attitude", they are airheads every time.
@pompousprick Oh no! I was marveling at your brilliantly crafted response. I have but the highest respect for a person who can use the word "dick" with such elegance.
its 6am and i didnt sleep from the previous day and this woke me up. its turning their own logic around. to make them see what they are doing isnt good
I don't know if the guy calling in was just nervous but he put up no argument.
His argument could have easily been yeah I'm part of this religion I don't want you to burn forever which is why Christians proselytize.
It's not as simple as just "quitting" the religion. if he sincerely believes in heaven and hell he's not gonna stop believing cause someone else doesn't believe.
For some reason, I really hate the guy wearing the orange shirt. Not because he's an atheist but because I just don't like him for some reason. I just have a gut feeling that he's a douche bag.
That guy in the orange shirt is a bit hysterical and kind of a dick. Have to side with the Christian on this one, because if he believes atheists will be tortured for eternity for disbelief then the same will be true of himself if he commits apostasy. It's not as simple as deciding "I don't like the doctrines of my religion in regard to non-believers, so I myself will become a non-believer". If anyone treats religion like that then for him it's an extremely trivial issue, not how you treat...
...your convictions about the divine. If a Christian comes to me and says "convert or you'll burn in hell" I'll just tell him to back off and leave me alone, there's no point in being offended by people if you know better than them. He makes it out as if all Christians are being spiteful and saying things like "God bless you" in a spirit of condemnation, which is of-course absurd. Although, I can't deny that some subsection of Christians do take this attitude, does that justify...
...tarring everyone in the religion with the same broad brush? We should treat fanaticism and religiousness as two distinct issues. Fanaticism is despicable and I could never object to somebody taking offense from being harassed by a fanatic but to blur this in with religiousness is a mistake and it conversely (and somewhat paradoxically) it makes atheism in general seem as hysterical, reactionary and absurd as that guy is being.
Haha , he tore shreds off him , but Jeff is right, and also it's not just atheists who have a choice , if a 5 year old Muslim child dies he's going to hell also. I mean come on people how can you think a kind god would do such a thing ?
Usualy there's never/nothing harsh enaugh.....when talking to christian, but this time I kinda felt for this caller. Jeff could be slightly less hard on him. If the purpose is to educate people - to change misconception & demonisation of atheism.....this was not the best way.
@DarkCaduceus It's better to punch hard and make the guy think about how fucked up religion is than just sit back and "tolerate" their passive agressivene behaviour. Jeff's high pitched voice tone just makes it extremely funny, but he's got a strong point there. I personally like his style a lot.
If the guy doesn't believe in any God, then why is he so offended by someone who does?
Muslims wish death to every infidel...why doesn't the rest of the non-Muslim world get offended by that? We all know they're fucked up and follow a evil religion. This clown can think what he wants and only surround himself by like thinkers, that's his prerogative.
He's trying to justify his twisted thinking because deep down he's a scared little boy.
first, who says we're not offended by muslims wishing all the infidels to die? that's in your own book too, by the way.
second, unless you are worse than hitler and stalin put together, you haven't really thought about what hell is supposed to be like, and thus do not understand the gravity of how awful a place it's supposed to be. do you really wish that on everyone who doesn't think exactly like you? if so, you're a truly evil person.
I'm OK with this douchebag burning in hell. Why? Because he's blasphemous. He makes a living preaching against religion. If the dickhead would just keep his mouth shut instead of trying to convince people NOT to be religious then there's no problem.
You're not exactly trying your best to bring him into the fold with your self-righteous hostility. Didn't Jesus say "“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick." and "I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."? And moreover, didn't he preach for men to "go forth and make disciples"? Is this what you want to accomplish by being so brash?
Something I would have mentioned had I took the call is, the guy admits that the God of his religion is going to torture non-believers forever, and then says that he personally doesn't think non-believers deserve it.
So if he's not quitting the religion, then he's just being bullied by the God of the Bible into believing just so he's saved from hell. So he clearly hasn't thought this stance through, or else he would realize all the claims about God's love for humanity are bullshit.
after that, i would have asked if he thinks his god is right about everything, and everything he does is the right thing to do. if the answer is yes, he not only has to agree nonbelievers should be tortured forever, he has to believe slavery is okay, and working on the sabbath, disobeying your parents, and homosexuality all deserve the death penalty.
like i said, most christians don't think about this stuff.
Christians only say non believers will go to hell because God said so. Not us humans, We don't make the rules. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. JOHN 3:16
@Lungenschuss Agreed. Anti-theism needs to be expressed with limits, as guided by the concept of respect of the individual; the caller was respectful, Dee was not. Valid criticism of religion will more likely be considered within the context of reason when personal contempt, pre-judgement & emotion are omitted.
@SIMKINETICS no, the caller was ignorant and refused to answer questions asked of him. dee answered the question honestly. and quite frankly, it's an issue that needs to be brought up a lot more with hell-believing religions. the caller believes dee should be tortured forever, or at least worships a deity who believes it. would you have worshipped hitler for wanting to exterminate the jews? would you be offended at someone who did? and don't tell me it's not the same damn thing.
@doaftheloaf Do not presume. I'm agnostic, meaning that I would accept the existence of god if there was undeniable proof of such in light of my doubts. This caller never alleged that he personally believed that hell existed, so I'd let him off the hook! This is a matter of respect. I will respect an atheist and a god-fearing man equally for the fact that, in all humility, we can never know what is beyond reality.
@doaftheloaf I inferred from his voice that he was reluctant to concede the existance of hell or that atheists were condemned to it, but you are correct, strictly speaking. I too respect people who base their words & actions strictly on verifiable information, and death can never be within that realm. Those who believe in an after-life imply a denial of the value of life, sometimes with dangerous results; that's my chief complaint about religion.
Jeff Dee devolved to emotional thinking. Not a good representation for atheists in general. We all get emotional at times (we are animals after all), but combatting unfounded belief with irrational emotion is not a good strategy.
That said, all non-christians are insulted by the central tenets of Christianity. Same is true of non-muslims insulted by Islam. Personally I'm upset with theists for their lazy thinking which I consider dangerous to humanity.
This cat seems like a fucking atheist Glenn Beck. Im an atheist, some may go so far as to say that Im an "anti-theist". However, this jackass doesnt do much good for atheists in general who naturally take the side of rationality, as opposed to pushy bullshit beliefs or fairy tales. This guy doesnt paint a picture or rationality AT ALL. He seems almost as bad as the people that we take issue with.
Why do Christians trip about people not believing? Why do Atheists trip about people believing? There should just be a peaceful coexistence between the two groups. Smoke weed.

...they will never change and they will never ever be united because they are extremely divided within their own religions...Life will never change if we think like them that GOD will make things better...We know that its up to us to figure out solutions...if the bible was right then remember in the bible the world is going to end so what use is it to try to achieve anything in life if the world is going to end...
Greetings to all...I always have love for christian eventhough im an athiest...therefore to all of my wonderful athiest people...wouldnt it be wonderful if all of our friends were athiest...so everyday we can really share more knowledge of the world to elevate our minds and to eventually figure out how to make things better for ourselves and the world...overall its way too much energy trying to convince christians and other people of religions that there is no GOD...
Only the worst Christians keep throwing Hell in people's faces. This caller was not one of those. Jeff Dee was really out of line here IMO. If the caller said that Jeff is going to Hell or believes he deserves to go to Hell, then that would justify Jeff's angry reaction.
@kenotube It isn't a matter of proactively proclaiming one's damnation(though, those who do certainly exist.). It's a matter of willingly, and intentionally adhering to a religious belief that very clearly outlines that it is reality, and that in that reality, anyone who doesn't adhere to this doctrine of thought, deserves infinite agony. You're choosing to worship a god who is 'loving', but also will casually, unjustfly toss the well being of people into an infinite lake of fire by the billions
@SirTurquoiseCrayon Actually, I am not a Christian. I was merely pointing out that Jeff's demeanor was over the top - it was not in proportion to the caller's, who was passive. That said, I think that anyone who believes that anyone deserves to be tortured forever for any reason is insane - even Hitler doesn't deserve that. But most Christians do not believe that anyone deserves to be tortured forever - do a survey, you'll see for yourself.
@kenotube I never intended to imply the assumption that you were religious, if my message came off that way implicitly, or explicitly, muh bad. I agree entirely, most Christians probably don't allocate their time to contemplating the billions of souls that within their world view are eternally damned. It's not a fun idea, and is certainly a deal breaker when given enough thought. The point is though, is whether or not Christians actually practice this, their beliefs entail it shamelessly.
@SirTurquoiseCrayon Point I'm trying to make, is even though most people don't beat their children with rods, or stone prostitutes these exists passages within the particular holy book which is essential to the religion. Many keep a blind spot to these passages, but it doesn't take long before some extremist, or fundi bats an eye to them, and carries out some terrible act that is wholly justified by these texts. Islam is a good example of religious doctrine followed scrupulously
@SirTurquoiseCrayon Right on Turquoise! It is a small step from taking religious tenets as guidelines to hard-and-fast rules (particularly because they're talking 'bout the most powerful entity possible). Religion sanctifies what would otherwise be considered immoral, and makes it holy commandment.
@kenotube Would you support a dictator who without pause executes hundreds? Even if you didn't yourself condone these killings, by supporting this dictator you're willingly giving them your seal of approval, and with that every action they carry out. These people are supporting a divine dictator that doesn't merely kill, but sentences one to an infinitely abject existence for simply not believing in him. This of course isn't a nice thought, so they barricade their minds away from this notion.
That is why Christians simply do not change beliefs. We are convinced about an opinion or fact, even though we do not see why hell is the way it is.
It is not a simple step to change religions. Many Christians have been brought up in a worldview that shines Christianity in a good light. Changing worldviews would be the only way for someone to truly stop believing in Christ.
I am a Christian. That episode very interesting, to say the least. I see why atheists would be bothered by Christians. In fact, I would find it odd if they weren't offended.
However, the conclusion to the argument is off. Just because one believes that a person is hardly deserving of hell does not mean to stop believing in it. Suppose my Spanish teacher gives me a "C" on a test. I did not believe in learning Spanish, therefore I should not get a C. Changing belief does not change circumstance.
Penal colony on Jupiter isn't gonna cut it, Jeff. Tell 'em they deserve to be chained up by their balls (breasts if it's a lady) and beaten at random intervals with searing hot metal rods, for the rest of their life, just for not being an atheist. See how they like THAT.
@h2omanz - "You never told me how you are bombarded by religion daily."
- um... i don't think you've ever asked me how (if you have asked and i haven't seen that comment, then i apologize, but i haven't seen it)
-my family is very religious. they've forced their beliefs on to me and where i would like to go for an education. and at my schools, Christian views have been forced on me.
Secondly, I do not accept punishing X for the crimes of Y. That's an inherently evil thing to do. What's even more evil is to punish X for the crimes for his parents or ancestors. That's probably even worse. It's amazing how immoral your enitre belief system is.
@DarwinAwardsInc Unfortunately, you can continue to not understand and turn away from God. You can stand in front of God on judgement day thinking it was wrong for the punishment you receive. In the end, you will not be better off. Christ died for the sins we all commit. I suggest studying Romas, Paul gives a great explanation of God laws, and how everyone will be accountable. If you have a question on its content or meaning, I would be glad to answer.
and why should i trust Paul? he's dead. Surely I should not just take your word for it above the word of my Muslim brothers who also spew their bare-faced lies and misconceptions. superstition is for Skinner's pigeons. What you are is comparable to a pagan. You know God's laws as much as the Aztecs did.
Scientists however, actually do come close in understanding God's laws.
@LuminousTruth As to refer to the video, it is to have a better understanding of God's judgement and to whom he will judge and why. Just because someone is deceased, does not mean they did not speak the truth in life. To quote Paul...
@LuminousTruth You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? 4Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience...
your idol scripture has no power over me, and those who confess their agnosticism...and do not lie, or misconcieve.
I do not have to trust Paul's judgment, nor idolize his pitiful human words.
However, how does that idol passage even on topic? Clearly it is about hypocracy...something that Christians are all too well acquainted to. The topic that i was on was your misconception of God as something you could understand, know, or be near-to through your idols.
@LuminousTruth Well, good luck with that. My point was clarify Paul's writing in Romans. I clearly see you still dont understand. I hope you do not idiolize words and to clarify the only Idol I have is the Lord Jesus Christ. Nothing else, including Paul to admonished those who wanted to bow to him. I can never understand NOR can you, everything that is God but I understand the most important thing. Jesus Christ died for the sin of mankind, to take the punishment for all sin upon himself.
clearly Jesus of Nazareth is also something to falsely associate with God. But you also associate God with your idol scripture.
you underestimate God's punishment, it will certainly be more than 40 lashes and will last more than a weekend, for those who blaspheme Truth with their misconceptions.
And Paul clearly talking about hypocracy when judging others, unless his writing can't be correctly translated into English, in which case...
@LuminousTruth and Christ Said " I am the way, the truth, and the light." You must be reborn under Christ. You are mis understanding Paul 's writings and I encourage you to read and understand further. I offer you living water, I can lead you to it but I can not nor will God, force you to drink. It is your choice. If you have a direct question, I will be glad to help. I am merely pointing out to athiests, I dont, nor God, wishes there just punishment should you turn away. Please dont!

Hell is the rejection of Love.
bheceo 6 months ago
@bheceo Who said with any certainty that it was an accident? Just because something is complex doesn't mean that you can assume that there was creation involved. Just because humans are capable of designing what seem to us to be "complex" things, doesn't mean that the formation of the universe has to follow the same guidelines. Nobody can prove that the man named jesus ever existed with any degree of certainty, let alone that he is a messiah. Love has nothing to do with it, prove hell exists.
ajax515 6 months ago
@ajax515 Thats the problem with todays Generation they have to see something to believe it.. thats not faith.. Jesus said your faith has saved you.. the writings of josephus mention Jesus and hes a well known historian of ancient times are you gonna say hes wrong when alot of people take stock in what he says
bheceo 6 months ago
@bheceo First of all, sight is not the only way to demonstrate or experience something. That's actually the improvement of this generation as we are not as gullible as previous ones. I don't care what you think jesus said. Josephus' mentions aren't worth anything as he never met this "jesus" nor did any verifiable eyewitnesses.I will say that he is not credible proof of this "jesus'" existence. Even if you could prove that he existed, you cannot prove the miracles or claims of divinity.

I'm not sure if it's for ratings, but I am appalled. And that, as they say, is that, sir.
peace to all my homosapiens.
LilAbortedJesus 8 months ago
@LilAbortedJesus Er, whats an "apatheist" is that like an apathetic atheist? (just joking) Look, I found it refreshing hearing someone offended by the Christian belief that us 'heathens' will exist after death in some state of eternal torture. Why shouldn't this repulsive violent belief offend us? Why is not ok to be upset about this? This belief was put in place as a way of CONTROLLING PEOPLE. It has no place in the modern world and stops us evolving as a species. Screw being polite about it!
clumpft 8 months ago
@clumpft An apathiest, is one who cares not at all if god/s exist or do not. It would be great to get religion as far away from public policies as possible, and to tax the everloving shit out of them. But, it's a person's choice to believe or disbelieve. Not everyone who loves god, is a flat-earther, if you catch my drift. Religions are just another colour in the diversity of community. Though, they shouldn't get special privileges either.
Have fun in your crusade.
LilAbortedJesus 8 months ago
@LilAbortedJesus ok, he's a dick because he doesn't like people asking him "why are you getting mad?" after having been told over and over and over again by the SAME GROUP that "you deserve to be tortured because you are a wicked, sinful human!!"

no he's not. he was asked why atheists get mad. he responded with why he gets mad.
" I am appalled"
if you don't find that a good enough reason to get mad, then don't get mad, but it's a good enough reason to get mad.

@ShePlaysIt Well, I think Jeff acted that way because the caller asked why some atheists get upset with Christians, then went on to rationalize the responses and be condescending in his snickering and snide remarks.

Yeah, Christians think I deserve hell, and it offends me, but I think there are better places to take issue with Christianity than after sneezing.
kville105125 10 months ago
What their saying is the equivalent of implying that since I live next to a bad high school, I should go there even though I know it could destroy my future, just out of courtesy to the people going there. As an agnostic, I'd like to see more people join my belief, but I understand that from a Christian's standpoint, what I did was like putting a gun to my head of my own accord. Sorry for the essay, but these guys are assholes.
Shadowdyce11 10 months ago
saying "god bless you" to me is like saying "pick that cotton, nigger" to a black guy. LAWLZ
you see, i try not to think about how the religion of others affects me; politics, laws, etc. and when a christian says "GBY", it's like ripping open a wound....
so when you mention nigger or slavery to a black guy, it pisses him off because you just reminded him that he's black.....more lawlz
but yea, keep you're beliefs to yourself....EVERYONE!!!!!

I kinda think it might have been helpful if Jeff asked what denomination of Christianity the caller was.
WSWarthog 1 year ago
@WSWarthog
...your convictions about the divine.
WSWarthog 1 year ago
@WSWarthog
...tarring everyone in the religion with the same broad brush? We should treat fanaticism and religiousness as two distinct issues. Fanaticism is despicable and I could never object to somebody taking offense from being harassed by a fanatic but to blur this in with religiousness is a mistake and it conversely (and somewhat paradoxically) it makes atheism in general seem as hysterical, reactionary and absurd as that guy is being.

@andrewh817 most christians don't.
after that, i would have asked if he thinks his god is right about everything, and everything he does is the right thing to do. if the answer is yes, he not only has to agree nonbelievers should be tortured forever, he has to believe slavery is okay, and working on the sabbath, disobeying your parents, and homosexuality all deserve the death penalty.
like i said, most christians don't think about this stuff.

I'm honestly with the theist on this one.
Jeff Dee needs to stop being so sensitive.
Lungenschuss 1 year ago
@Lungenschuss Agreed. Anti-theism needs to be expressed with limits, as guided by the concept of respect of the individual; the caller was respectful, Dee was not. Valid criticism of religion will more likely be considered within the context of reason when personal contempt, pre-judgement & emotion are omitted.
SIMKINETICS 1 year ago
@SIMKINETICS no, the caller was ignorant and refused to answer questions asked of him. dee answered the question honestly. and quite frankly, it's an issue that needs to be brought up a lot more with hell-believing religions. the caller believes dee should be tortured forever, or at least worships a deity who believes it. would you have worshipped hitler for wanting to exterminate the jews? would you be offended at someone who did? and don't tell me it's not the same damn thing.
doaftheloaf 1 year ago
@doaftheloaf Do not presume. I'm agnostic, meaning that I would accept the existence of god if there was undeniable proof of such in light of my doubts. This caller never alleged that he personally believed that hell existed, so I'd let him off the hook! This is a matter of respect. I will respect an atheist and a god-fearing man equally for the fact that, in all humility, we can never know what is beyond reality.
SIMKINETICS 1 year ago
@SIMKINETICS the caller did concede that hell was a part of the religion he believed in.
sure, we can never know for sure, but i will respect the person more who bases his conclusions on evidence instead of faith, all else being equal.
doaftheloaf 1 year ago
@doaftheloaf I inferred from his voice that he was reluctant to concede the existance of hell or that atheists were condemned to it, but you are correct, strictly speaking. I too respect people who base their words & actions strictly on verifiable information, and death can never be within that realm. Those who believe in an after-life imply a denial of the value of life, sometimes with dangerous results; that's my chief complaint about religion.
SIMKINETICS 1 year ago
Jeff Dee devolved to emotional thinking. Not a good representation for atheists in general. We all get emotional at times (we are animals after all), but combatting unfounded belief with irrational emotion is not a good strategy.
That said, all non-christians are insulted by the central tenets of Christianity. Same is true of non-muslims insulted by Islam. Personally I'm upset with theists for their lazy thinking which I consider dangerous to humanity.

SirTurquoiseCrayon 1 year ago

SirTurquoiseCrayon 1 year ago
@SirTurquoiseCrayon Point I'm trying to make, is even though most people don't beat their children with rods, or stone prostitutes these exists passages within the particular holy book which is essential to the religion. Many keep a blind spot to these passages, but it doesn't take long before some extremist, or fundi bats an eye to them, and carries out some terrible act that is wholly justified by these texts. Islam is a good example of religious doctrine followed scrupulously
SirTurquoiseCrayon 1 year ago 2
@SirTurquoiseCrayon Right on Turquoise! It is a small step from taking religious tenets as guidelines to hard-and-fast rules (particularly because they're talking 'bout the most powerful entity possible). Religion sanctifies what would otherwise be considered immoral, and makes it holy commandment.
Religion is a dangerous proposition for humanity.

:O Jeff Dee being illogical?! There was horrible logic by him.

MsMotleyone 1 year ago
@LuminousTruth You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? 4Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience...

@MsMotleyone
your idol scripture has no power over me, and those who confess their agnosticism...and do not lie, or misconcieve.
LuminousTruth 1 year ago
@LuminousTruth Well, good luck with that. My point was clarify Paul's writing in Romans. I clearly see you still dont understand. I hope you do not idiolize words and to clarify the only Idol I have is the Lord Jesus Christ. Nothing else, including Paul to admonished those who wanted to bow to him. I can never understand NOR can you, everything that is God but I understand the most important thing. Jesus Christ died for the sin of mankind, to take the punishment for all sin upon himself.
MsMotleyone 1 year ago
@MsMotleyone
clearly Jesus of Nazareth is also something to falsely associate with God. But you also associate God with your idol scripture.
you underestimate God's punishment, it will certainly be more than 40 lashes and will last more than a weekend, for those who blaspheme Truth with their misconceptions.
And Paul clearly talking about hypocracy when judging others, unless his writing can't be correctly translated into English, in which case...
mr.nazareth never prayed to himself.
