  • This narrrator has such a cool voice!

  • Can anyone confirm the story about Joyce passing out at a pub, and Hemingway carrying him home over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes?

  • @TheChap36 Hemingway mentions having carried Joyce home in his autobiographical novel "A Moveable Feast" which is about his time in Paris. Hemingway had been wanting to meet Joyce for some time because he admired his writing and they became drinking buddies in Paris.

  • Greatest quote ever!

  • round glasses..ughhh james joyce I am in love

  • I once killed a beer with an empty bear bottle

  • Fun fact: Ernest hemmingway once killed a polar bear with no tools other than an empty bear bottle and a kangaroos ballsack.

  • @Glassandcandy

FUN FACT: I once watched your mother dance the tango with nothing but one broken high heel.... Ouuu!

  • 's not his fucking voice.

  • His voice doesn't match his writing.

  • Is this genuine. This is outstanding, I searched James Joyce footage not expecting to find anything yet viols. BenW, are you really a relative oc JJoyce?!

  • i love to have hemmeway back me up in a fight just saying

  • Favourited just for that last line of perfection.

  • "deal with him, hemmingway! deal with him." that's fucking hilarious.

  • Love to know hes my relative!

  • Hilarious. A lot of the writers of this time have 30 seconds of known footage.

  • I hope this is real.

  • I expected him to be weak and thin, was surprised to hear that he was short.

  • So poignant to see Joyce in this a surreal footage. A Goliath of a brain in such a fragile body. Adds a new dimension to my Joyce research and artist's response.

  • blubulububukkkklububulikllllllllubulu

    -Dozs'nt thee woefully blimbs?

    pfststssssssstttttt

  • @mrfatd

    Haha

  • @mrfatd its 99% of Finnegans Wake, to be fair :)

  • A rather haunting pice of video. Very cool. Just to see the man is mind-blowing.

  • It is wanderful to see Mr James Joyce alive!

  • I bet he was a funny man

  • I need to read "Ulysses". I'm currently reading "As I Lay Dying" by Faulkner and can't wait to finish it. Not because it's so compelling but because I want to be done with it. I'll probably have to re-read it later on to grasp it. Anyway, I'll probably read "Ulysses" next and then move on to the Ciaro Trilogy by Naguib Mahfouz.
