oh dear. ironic your posting such comments, perhaps you need to get a life first, as you probably troll youtube a lot trolling and generally writing s... .. in short, do something positive with your life.
Sir, your recollections make me feel both fond nostalgia and mad sadness! I'm so sorry about you moving to the smaller room, because I know why you moved. It's a good thing, but a sad thing.
I am fascinated by your stories & I am recommending them to my children. You truly have the ability to link "old and new", "past and present" and bridge 'generation gaps'. Please continue sharing your experiences with us, Michael
I have just subscribed to Youtube after watching some of you're videos, just so I could always find them!
The type of bed you described from you're childhood is the exact same I have now, minus the feather mattress. My bed is 3/4, metal framed, wooden spindled head and footboard with a spring that is sagging. I have had it for many years..although I'm only 21.
I just wanted to thank you for bring this song back into my memory. My Grandma used to sing this song to her grand kids on camping trips. She died when I was 12, and I had forgotten this song. Hearing it brought back so many wonderful memories. Thanks again, and I just think your videos are wonderful.
I used to share my bed with my sisters until 2nd grade. I didn't mind sleeping with them until I finally found out what it is like to sleep without any leg contact! LOL! I'm never sleeping with them again.
love the beginning song, great story yet again, I kow many of us relate, funny stuff in here, you have some great memories filled with love, you're such a noble good-hearted person. I love you lots.
This is awsome stuff, I find listening to you relaxing and comforting - two things I need after a week on some rocky and icy island somewhere in the gulf of Finland. (The military can sometimes be tough on it's soldiers.)
Thank you for this one, I'll be checking back next weekend after another week on some damned, slippery rock.
your family is truly fortunate and blessed that you are giving them these memories. many people can only wish that their grandparents had left such a touching history. thanks for sharing.
I'd really love there to be a recorded audio/podcast of this stuff. It would be ideal when I fancy listening to Peter without turning my computer on. Is something like this already available?
Hi Peter~~Say, have you ever heard of the North Platte Canteen? My Mom and Dad spent one day working at the North Platte Canteen when they were just dating; they belonged to a group called Rural Youth of America. Good blog material. Good book~~Once Upon a Town by Bob Greene. Love the bed shopping story! :-)
Thanks peter, yet another fine webcast, I always enjoy your stories as i have little or no contact with people your age and find your stories very interesting
I saw you making stupid hate comments before. Man go play in traffic you queer little fuck. Hopefully they'll run over your ass so it'll crush your brain.
Thanks Peter. I dread shopping too - and I'm female and everyone assumes women like to shop. Not this one. Thanks to the internet I get most of what I need online. Might be tough to buy a bed that way - but if it can be done that's what I'd do!
I just love your sall tidbits from life. Keep on! I guess you do not have a moveable camera, - but maybe you could tell stories based on different items you have collected trough you life? keep up the good work!
That old iron bed will last a lot longer than these new mdf ones. I remember them paraffin heaters to I guess they were popular cos they had an advert for the fuel "esso blue" on T.V
Yes but if you consider that he will have only been in his 40s when the Floyd were popular. I suppose that people will laugh at me when I am his age, as at the age of 45 I love the Arctic Monkeys
As a fellow Pink Floyd fan, and particularly a fan of that era of music, I'll be listening to Pink Floyd, Cat Steven, James Taylor and the like forever. Hopefully until I'm 65 as well.
Peter, thanks, I have had a 1920s sofa remade with feathers and am often tempted to go and sleep on that. Since my wife left me six years ago, I found sleeping in the 'regular' bed always rather strange, so a feather chaise longue sort of thing is a handy occasional comfort.
Your bedtime story was quite nice. I slept on the iron beds with the open springs when I was a child; they were from the 1900's. Children sleep the sleep of innocents.
Another delightful tale. Seeing your vlogs is like visiting with an old friend and hanging out, sharing stories. I lift my hot chocolate on a rainy morning in oregon in a toast to you, Sir. Keep 'em coming. :-)
you know if a video is over 5 mins I usually aviod them but ,geriatric1927, yours are always easy to follow and very funny.10 mins seems like a few seconds.
Currently living in a small travel trailer. Your story convinced me to continue to store my household goods so I don't have to re buy things like beds.
Can I ask why you didn't feel comfortable anymore in the big comfortable room with the nicest view? I am assuming you missed your wife. My Mum got rid of her new double bed after my step dad passed away and moved into the small bedroom with the single bed. Love your chats.
Ah, there does come a time when parents decide there are certain things boys must do separately and not together. For my first two boys, it was bathtime. After one lost part of a tooth because of the other smashing his head on the bottom of the tub, tub time together ended. LOL! They were loads younger though. Like 4 and 6. Love the shopping story. Don't know of any men who enjoy shopping Peter; I guess that's a womens sport.
A delightful episode, Peter. Both stories poignant and funny, a growing hallmark, really, of your work.
As for the psychological counseling for your shopping "phobia," a pro would say it seems like you've managed just fine when it comes to the things you care about (what kind of video card was that, again?)
Hey Peter! Loved your choice of music. I am from Colorado, and had the privilege of meeting and knowing John Denver. He really was a wonderful person. Grandma's feather bed! My husband laughs at me, because I sleep with pillows all around me as if I'm sleeping in a feathered nest! It feels so comfy and gives one a feeling of security. Thanks for your wonderful memory!
Well that brings back memories! Must get the wife to listen to this soon, she still remembers rolling to the center of the bed, also if you slept with gran ma and pa. you ended up in the middle with the cover high above you and the cold air coming down you! Very funny, have not thought of that in years.
Peter lovely bedroom window. Buying a bed and a mattress can be a very tiring and exhauting afair. I think they are too costly. Keep on vloging please.
I loved that story.Mama tells a story of her brothers and her going under the bed with a candle looking for a mouse and setting the feather mattress on fire. Mummy had to put it out and all were in trouble for ever. Thanks for that memory.Love you. Deborah
Good Grief!! Growing up at your house must have been a life or death situation! I've heard of having hot times in the sack, but THIS gives it a new meaning...!
The bed people do have us by the . . . as we all do need to sleep. Beds here in America cost thousands of dollars. Many are high tech - space materials, adjustable air bags, etc. Oh well, I guess that we need to get some geese and start plucking . . .
I love listening to your stories. They make my day that much brighter. Just as a side note, I am an only child, so I have always had my own bed. However, my mother has 9 sisters and 3 brothers. When she was growing up there were only 4 rooms in their house, so she had to share a room with 4 of her sisters. I have heard many stories of their bed and how they would fight over it and push each other out sometimes in the middle of the night.
All the intros to his videos use pre-made animations. Normally, I would complain. However, it really suits G'27, causing me to compliment him *thumbs up*
My older sister and I shared the same bed as very young children. Later, when our younger brother was about a year or so old she would convince mom to let him sleep with us, he was her substitute for a doll. I wasn't happy about sharing my space and would have gladly thrown him out if I'd been able. We all survived and actually still love each other. Great memories. ☺
What a wonderful way to start the day with one of your videos. I am so glad to see you posting. I think you are my favourite channel on Youtube. Loved the story about beds. The sagging beds and matresses of my youth, already about 20 years old by the time they got to me. Wonderful stories, and thanks for bringing back some memories of my own. Love your work. Keep it up.
You're so sweet! It's rare that I have the time to watch your videos because they tend to be long but when I do I enjoy it so much! In fact, I'm less than 3 minutes into this one and adore you more already!
Again, your word pictures are enthralling! You are so right about we older people remembering the cost of things when we were younger and being shocked by prices now. Also like you, after my late wife passed away, I moved into a smaller bedroom and turned the master bedroom into a visitors room. Thanks for the memories!
When I was little I used to share a room with my sister (separate beds). And for some reason I remember once waking up in her bed and her waking up in mine not knowing how that happened.
Did you not go to any fireworks displays this weekend, then?
Loving the stories. I don't think you need counselling for hating shopping. The anxiety seems pretty normal. Thank you for a window on a generation I no longer have in my real life.
That song makes me want a huge feather bed. Oh my.

Peter, you are truly blessed with that view! Love your story about buying a bed. And loved John Denver - I used to sing that song to my children...
