I remember seeing this video in Don Kirschner's Rock Concert, late one Saturday night on network television. You could've knocked us over with a feather, seeing Rush on TV. Everyone the following week at school were talking about the swan and the lake and castle, and finally seeing Rush on TV, who weren't even on the radio in those days. Great to see this again after 35 years.
this is how to tell the difference from real musicians and poooooooozzzzzzzzzeeeerrrsss god bless Geddy Lee God bless Alex Lifeson God blessssssss Neil Peart God Bless Rush
I feel very grateful to have seen them on on this tour back in 1977. Little did I know what I was witnessing at the time. Still love them after all these years.
Something I learned from a drummer long ago..Neil Pert NEVER plays 2 bars exactly the same...listen to his drumming closely and you'll hear what I'm talking about..these three are geniuses!!

I was in high school and I traded shifts with a friend at a resturaunt I worked at so I could get home to see this on Don Kirshners when it first came out. I knew it was video and not really live but I didnt care. I was a huge fan and had only seen their album art up to that point. Seeing them jump around in all their majestic progrock trappings was pure musical nirvana.
After a classic Yes influenced intro, this very quickly became my favourite from A Farewell to Kings. Alex Lifeson to me is such a great guitarist, seemingly in the shadow of Neil and Geddy, he still doesn`t get the recognition he deserves. Such a consistant and wonderfully melodic guitarist. I think of Rush and I think of THOSE guitar riffs and solos. Class!
This song is amazing, but my one gripe is the little acoustic part at the end. I know it's a reference to the beginning but it would've been a lot cooler if it just ended with that one ringing chord...
Just wondering what you are referring to ... this video? This is Rush and that *is* Geddy Lee and Neil Peart and Alex Lifeson.
Classic rock crap? Not sure what you are referring to. Not only is the music incredible but the lyrics are timeless and so appropriate to any age (including this one) where the rulers are "scheming demons" "beating down the multitude and
As someone who saw them live when Caress of Steel was released, I can say without hesitation that that is most certainly Mr. Peart on drumsThis sounds like the studio version of the tune, although I don't recall Alex's chords at 5:22-5:25 sounding quite like that. But they may have been just an EQ thing on the transfer...
The genre is Hard Rock or Progressive Rock. It is a great tune off one of their best albums, IMO.
@JonP1961 Agreed for sure this could be the concert in Toronto,I recall seeing this at least back in 78,79.The way Geddy performs his style is one u soon not want to forget so with that I believe you may be rite Peace from Canada.Eh,Eh.Especially his beak

Ah - my first album intro to Rush - A Farewell to Kings - still ranks as my favourite album of all time - nothing comes close.
It's Geddy Lee's bass playing which is just superb here - how he plays such complex bass lines whilst singing is beyond me.
These guys are in a completely different league.

@dwilmer7 No, that is definitely Neil on drums and Geddy on vocals..It's from the record of the same title, 1977. Great record, I might add..

@dwilmer7 This is also 30 years ago. Peart didn't have the electronic drums and xylophone in his kit. And this is definitely not crap.
