  • epi's are made in jap or korea

  • *stutters* "silver" *stutters* "burst!" Passes out.

  • good luck?......

  • I know some say epiphone say its gay so what i did was i went out and this was like two days ago and bought some jh emg pickups and it sounds nice

  • I'll give a ps3 Xbox 360 iPad 2 and 32" tv for it! Pm me!!

  • hey i'm looking to upgrade from a pevey raptor and i was wondering how good this guitar wood be i play through a fender frontman 212 i play rock ac/dc guns and roses Metallica stuff like that would this be a good beginner to mid leave guitar

  • It's very odd how guitars stay in tune. I've borrowed a very very cheap school guitar, it's probably over 7 years old, its bashed and has a kind of "vintage" look to it because people treat it so rough, however it stays in tune much much longer than my other guitars, around £200 =/

  • lmao i have this exact guitar silverburst too...biggest waste of 400 dollars i ever made...neck heavy, muddy tone i had to set it to treble and bring up the tone to the max and it was still muddy ass hell...wood is of semi-decent quality nothing special...all in all a waste..but now i got a fender so i'm good

  • IF ANYONE WANTS ONE HIT ME UP

  • Hello,

I've been wondering, which is better, the Epiphone G-400 SG Electric Guitar or the Epiphone Limited Edition 1966 G-400(the one you have)?

    Thanks.

  • @frogon233 Same thing. Just different looks.

  • OMG is this Shia Labeouf? doesn't matter. stupid hoe

  • my two epiphones are for sale! i have a sunburst les paul 100 id say is a decent intermediate and my g-400 sg with the cherry finish needs rewired but its cheap to get that done im asking 800 for both just so i can get my dream satin ebony studio

  • my two epiphones are for sale! i have a sunburst les paul 100 id say is a decent intermediate and my g-400 sg with the cherry finish needs rewired but its cheap to get that done im asking 700 for both just so i can get my dream satin ebony studio

  • the degree of the head of the guitar and the neck makes it stay in tune

  • epiphone is better than gibson

  • @robowarrior10533

    You're fucking retarded.

  • @elliotthope1 i think your retarded it has to do with string angle dude

  • im this baby if i play my acoustic which i just popped a string on and if i get good grades... it ll be a first good eletric... if you know guitars better then let me know if it is

  • better than some lower end gibsons

  • just sayin...this guitar has the best look out of any sg

  • @usefulcoin is this guitar good for my second guitar for im looking to buy it for my birthday i play small gigs nothing big would this be able to handle it

  • china´s epiphone guitars are more poor than usa epiphone guitars???

  • i like silverburst because it gives a limited edition air

  • 1 question, that guitar is from corea because the other day i was looking the price on musicians friend and is too cheap and i think that the guitar could be corean ok bye.

ptt:if my english were bad is because i´m from chile :D please aswer mi question

  • "I don't know what make's a guitar stay in tune better than others" the tuners and the bridge, this stays in tune better because it has a Tune-O-Matic bridge and Grover tuners (Grovers are amazing)

  • at guitar center, this guitar is $250 you got ripped

  • Much classier than those stupid dots! Haha that made me laugh!

  • Hah! >:P should got cherry or the white kind

  • man, learn some shit before you start talkin crap.

  • re: what "Stratdem" Implies that more Pro Musicians are using Epi's, I never saw anyone , Even doing a gig in some beat up Bar, Use an Epi. I did see a Jazz Guitarist use an Epi from the 1950's.

Does anyone know of any Musician today, Either Pro, Or Famous use an Epi?

  • @roge69charger The Edge from U2 uses an old Epiphone Casino made in the USA by Gibson as did John Lennon. One of the guitar players in Twisted Sister uses an Epiphone Les Paul. The guitar players in Hawthorne Heights used to use Epiphones right when they got "big". Drew Shirley from Switchfoot uses an old USA built Epiphone solid body, one of the guys in Bob Dylan's band uses a newer Epiphone acoustic, both guitarists in Taking Back Sunday regularly use either Chinese or Korean made Epiphones

  • @roge69charger Rivers Cuomo uses this guitar except in Cherry (he's from Weezer)

  • moucon, suck a dick bro! epiphone is almost even with gibson! its right up there with gibson

  • alittle wrong on price..its really 399.99 for silverburst

  • Hello, umm in one of your annotation things on the vid you say that the "hardware and the guitar is vastly superior to the epiphone" what do ya mean by that?

  • just bought one, and ordered GFS pups, and black hardware

  • i want a gibson sg siver bust too!! where can i get one?! pls reply!

  • @HutchDano590 you can get one at guitar center.. idk if they have guitar centers at anywhere but the US though, if you dont live here. i got a heritage cherry one yesterday because it was cheaper than the silverburst.. i got it on sale for about $299 cuz it was labour day, while silverburst costs about $399. idk if they still have the sale going on though... im sure they'll have one soon though =) hope this helped =)

  • more and more pro guitarist are playing today's Epiphone guitars

for the simple fact the craftmanship is BRILLIANT! and the tone's

and feel of today's epiphone guitars are a huge A+! I WOULD BUY

A EPIPHONE GUITAR TODAY JUST AS FAST AS A GIBSON MODEL

MAYBE EVEN FASTER because of the simple fact that they are that good!

  • wait, wat does tune-o-matic mean?

  • i'm gonna start guitar and buy this as my first guitar in the cherry finish...(silverburst looks good too but i'd rather go forthe classical look)...based on this im guessing it's a good choice

  • is it neck heavy? plz answer

  • @yougotpownd I had one and its not that heavy but its heavier than the body. Its a great guitar though- I suggest you get this guitar and some strap locks

  • @TheMonkeydude07 alright thanks man.

  • @yougotpownd No prob man- Oh! One more thing... Epiphone SGs are like super delicate and light so wind will literally blow it away if its in a gigbag and if you drop it itll probably break so.... get it a hardcase..

  • I think I might ask for this for Christmas. Right now I have a Squier but I can't decide if Im good enough to get an Epiphone yet...

  • I just tried this model out at Guitar Center and while the spec's say "slim taper neck" it's like holding a BASEBALL BAT in your hand!..I played NUMEROUS other sg's "gibson & epi" that actually HAD a slim/taper neck. That is the neck style I PREFER on SG'S..Was the one I played mislabeled?? Which SG has the SLIM neck??

  • yeah the wood is the same its mahogany

  • haha a chinese guitar since when.

    hahahaha!

  • Lol I got mine for $240 (new) xD

  • Can you get the pickgaurd off of yours? It won't come off mine.

  • For the money they're perfect for a spare. They're NOTHING like a Gibson however. The wood is not the same - My SGs are solid mahogany. These are what? Fast-growing Chinese WhateverWood. The hardware is a much lower grade and so are electronics. It ain't a Gibson - simple as that. Of course, a Real SG is a challenge to keep in tune - rubber neck, you don't need a whammy- just bend the whole guitar.

  • @moucon No indeed there isn't. Although I'm a die-hard Fender kinda guy, anything that has a Gibson Standard or Custom in the title is a really high quality instrument. The nitrocellulose finish and the wood quality and weight really makes it feel expensive. The Epiphone is a really nice starter guitar but nothing more.

  • @usefulcoin agreed, Plus Gibson holds is value so well that its almost a better investment in the first place. I've bought all my Gibsons used and I would bet I could sell the for the same price, if not more than what I bought them for. Nothing beats that Gibson sound imho.

  • @usefulcoin you said that the guitar have plastic parts????BECAUSE I THANK THAT THE GUITAR ARE MADE WITH CAOBA AND MAHOGANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF???!!

  • @usefulcoin I'm looking for an upgrade from my squire but will definitely not enough money to get fender or gibson. Is this good quality? And will it last?

  • @moucon nothing like a Gibson? i found there to

be very little differnce in tone between a Epiphone G-400 62 SG

and a Gibson SG standard. dont let the price fool ya on the

Epiphone SG. AND BUY THE WAY THERE CRAFTED OUT OF SOLID MAHOGANY just like the Gibson models. and some of the hardware is the same

also. and buy the way Gibson owns epiphone has since 1957.

  • @moucon these are also solid mahogany.

  • @moucon These are made of solid mahogany too.

  • @moucon The epiphone's one are solid mohogany as well. It is the pick ups that are different and the quality control for these guitars are worse. Otherwise, they are pretty close.

  • is this guitar actually good?

  • I just bought that guitar yesterday! ^_^

  • LIKE THE GUITAR AND STRAP SWEET

  • I want that guitar lol

  • i saw ryan roxie play a firebird with that collor. niiice

  • i have the same guitar in cherry finish man awsome guitar aint it to answer you question on how the guitar stays in tune is the tune-o-matic bridge

  • Hey nice guitar man, I don't see many SG guitars in silverburst. I own a Gibson Les Paul in Silverburst though. If I were you, I'd get a white mother of pearl swearl pickguard instead of the black to go along with the top piece and the pearl wedged frets on it that you were talking about. =)

  • China owns USA very soon so all guitars made in USA are practically Chinese

  • haha good point

  • @savofenno Asians rule? Sorry, but yea. . . Asian Pride here. . . but the US can bounce back, right? Maybe?

  • @XiaNingTian what do u mean bounce back ... do u forget we are the one helping you guys out after that damm wave hit u

  • @aj2361 Haha, sure you are. I mean bounce back as in the US economy is in the rut. Japan may have gotten hit by a tsunami, but they are still doing a lot better than the US. Asians rule. The US is in it deep, and is in so much debt to China. So before you think you're "helping us" who's helping you? :)

  • @savofenno this is made in korea

  • is this silverburst or ebony?

  • Silverburst

  • one of my bandmates owns this guitar and i think its the best epiphone ive played so far, it has a really good sound without having to change anything. the neck on it is really comfortable and fast too.

  • i have the same guitar and the epiphone ompany is actually based in europe. . . and pretty much the only difference is the hardware

  • ive played epiphones that sound better than gibsons

my gibson is the best sounding guitar i heard thats why i got it, but seriosuly some epiphones are pretty good :)

  • OK, i know that some ppl are DIE HARD Gibson fans, sure there a little better as far as hard ware but thts really about it. They sound VERY similar and honestly, actual Fenders and Gibsons are OUTRAGEOUS, sure there good guitars but, you know, a Squire or an Epiphone sounds close. and If you want a vintage sound, buy some pick-ups and wat not and BAM, you have a Squire tht sounds like an actual FENDER and you ended up paying at least 1/2 da price on some models, or more depending.

  • I have this guitar, but in heritage cherry, looks a lot better that way.

  • @betterthanyourname28

nahh the silverburst looks way better

  • i guess thats ur opinion, but i like the classic look. either way the finish is stunning!

  • Well, I think it's safe to say i agree with MJB1994 on this one :-)

Also, check out my Gibson SG!

  • ok, well the silverburst might look better in person, so i wouldnt know. how does the sound and quality of the Gibson compare to the epiphone? is it noticeable?

  • your not going to play it? disaponting-

hey, im glad you can read the manuel, but i wanna hear it dude

  • dude-you never go by who made it or what it looks like

it all matters what it sounds like

like i knew a friend who had an epiphone, and my uncle has the same model but gibson-but the epiphone has a better ring

but usually gibson it better-it all depends on you

  • its a part of gibson...

  • I Just Got A Bundle With A Epiphone SG G-400, Line 6 II 15 Watt And Hard Guitar Case For 500$ Great Products!

  • epiphone and Gibson wood r different in some ways like the two piece neck on the epiphone

  • agreed but i mean for the money they are alright

  • I just got this yesderday! This guitar is sooo amazing!

  • like the cherry ones better. gonna get one and install an angus young signature. fucking mad guitars for the price

  • They are unbelievable for the price it is all mahogany with a set neck and decent pickups for like $400 and I was looking at jackson KVX10 it was basswood and bolt on with shit pickups for $600!

  • If this one is "Limited Edition" like the Silverburst LP from Epi, then there will be about 900 trillion of them made.

  • just the same as the g400..

  • 2:13 It's got grover tuners. They are much better than stock.

  • grovers r stock

  • okay we get it, its a beautiful guitar but theres much more to it then the looks dude... but still good video

  • okay we get it, its beautiful but theres much more the looks dude

    but good video

  • with gibson your also paying for the brand. just because its gibson doesnt mean its godly or anything. i have an epiphone and its great. plus if you have fret buzz its easy to fix

  • most guitars have fret buzz. and 2 the 2008 AND 009 Epiphone G-400 SG 62 AND 66 HAVE THE HIGHEND HARDWARE AND THEY BOTH MATCH THE GIBSON SG VERY WELL.

  • Im getting one just like this but in cherry. I think the cherry looks better than the silverburst.

  • too right :) im well gettin the cherry one, theyre so niceeeee

  • @xIBrUtALiTyI nothing beats silverburst

  • its only 300 dollars to

  • i found one thats solid black and im wondering if i should buy it or not

  • Gibson guitars bought Epiphone guitars back in 1957 and in 1959 is when Gibson started crafting the Epiphone guitar. Gibson would NOT! Authorize any guitar if it was crap. so its safe to say Epiphone G-400 SG 1962 AND 66 ARE QUALITY SG'S ALL THE WAY!

  • the Alnico V magnets that are in the 2008 or 2009 G-400 SG 62 AND 66 ARE HIGHEND! so you have a great pick ups.

Gibson/Epiphone have put the highend hardware on the G-400 SG 1962 AND 66 SG'S for a limited time. i have mine!

  • and lets not forget the 2008 OR 09Epiphone G-400 SG 62 OR G-400 SG 66

    THERE BOTH Gibson USA Authorized.

the tuning is the Grover 12 to 1 gear ratio

tuners thats why they stay in tune very well. like i said this is a limited time and Gibson/Epiphone have been crafting these sg's with highend hardware for 2 years now (2007) so its coming to a end.

i would put these two SG's up against any Gibson standard SG ANYDAY!

  • I think you're guitar wants to come home with me....just sayin'

  • i have the gibson verison that came out in 2007, its 1 of 400. i love it! well one diference that i can see is that the wood on the fret board on the epi is mahogany, but the gibson version is ebony

  • hey guys if you call musicians friend, only by phone, this guitar is now 300 bucks. I snagged the deal ASAP

  • if this is a 2008 or 2009 66 sg you have Grover 12 t0 1 tatio tuners

  • the Epiphone 2008 AND 2009 G-400 62 AND 66 SG's Gibson are making these models for a limited time with all highend hardware. so if you have a G400 62 OR 66 2008 OR 2009 THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE.

also the 62 and 66 G-400 SG's are Gibson USA Authorized this simply means there true reissues.

  • this is what the 2008 AND 2009 Epiphone 62 and 66 G-400 SG's have.

Grover 12 to 1 ratio machine heads.

    Gibson designed humbucker pu's with

    Alnico 5 magnets.

tune o matic bridge and stop tail bar is the same one on the Gibson SG.

tone and volume pots are heavy duty 500's also the same you will find on the Gibson SG.

    there both hand crafted.

and theres a few more things that are the same on both Gibson and Epiphone SG's

Gibson is only doing this for a limited time its coming to the end.

  • SG is damn sexy

i will probably get one in silverburst.

  • This is solid mahogany just like a Gibby.

  • do you consider Epiphone as a good quality guitar brand?

  • I do. But, only the ones that are 300 USD, and up.

  • it is made by Gibson so yes. I have 2 so

  • Silverburst always kicks ass.

  • dude i want to get one in cherry for 349.99.

but that's cool. i like silverburst on the les paul better.

  • Musician's Friend stocks factory 2nds. There may not be anything nec. wrong with the guitar, but it is fascinating how you can find the same guitar for the same price at Guitar Center, only the selections of wood grains in the finish are significantly superior to the same model from Musician's Friend. This is how Musician's Friend profits grossly. They have deals with factories like Gibson & Fender to purchase their make-ready at a discount. They hope you won't trouble yourself to return it.

  • Hi i have a question about this guitar, this might be a stupid question but it is about the heritage cherry and the silverburst, the only difference is the colour right? Both guitars have the same electronics and hardware right?

  • Musicians Friend has them for $349 with a hardshell case right now. I bought the cherry. The one I got has the best tuners I've ever used. Even beating out my Les Paul.

  • silverburst or cherry

  • i got the cherry one

  • doesnt musicians friends great

  • silerburst or cherry?

  • Silverburst

  • can i say i have a gibson sg special and can i say the quality of a gibson is nothing like a epiphone but the korean one dont get me wrong were very good i had a korean zakk wylde les paul so yeah

  • i think this one looks better than the epi LP Silverburst, hope they have it at GC. Probably gonna have too special order it or something.

  • you have to call in before you go there for them to order it if they don't have it

  • Made in Korea, woods are mostly the same main variations come in

    1. Neck joint on Gibsons=vastly superior

    2. Better job fretting on Gibson, thanks largely to plek machine

    3. Better tuners on Gibson

    4. Better pickups in Gibson

    5. Each Gibson gets more attention from technicians during construction resulting in noticeably higher quality.

Still, amazing guitar for the price. I'm hoping to pick one up in Heritage Cherry.

  • for my next guitar should i get this or a esp ltd kirk hammett 202 with esp pickups for $260 new with a bolt on neck and 24 frets or a esp ltd kirk hammet 502 with emg hz (i think) with a neck thru neck (i think its called) with 24 frets for $290 used?

  • used kh

  • yeah

well i dont know if its gonna be there

  • get the mh-250nt

    it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better.

  • what about the kh502

  • never played it

  • yeah only problem now is to choose between the Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Custom Silverburst Guitar and this Epiphone Limited Edition 1966 G-400 SG Guitar.

  • Awesome. My next guitar is definitely going to be a silverburst. Either sg or les paul. Depending on how long I'm willing to wait...

  • cool man i have the like exact thing but mines an epiphone sg custom shop but mine is the angus young model its sweet

  • i am thinking about getting that exact guitar. now that youve had it for like a year, how's the quality?

thanks for this vid though, made up my mind on getting this guitar :)

  • i've had mine for about 2, freakin awesome... it copes with tonnes of different styles really well. the only thing is, when you get it you might want to change the action... the bridge pickup is really high, then the neck pickup is super low... i left mine because i like the feel... but yeah..... it looks madass

  • this guitar is alsome! i have it and itz alsome!

  • sg are a great guitar but i dont think they look good in a silverburst . . . . les pauls look really good in silverbursts

  • I received the Epi SG-400 for my wedding Anniversary. I wanted something that I would not outgrow or need to upgrade. I will have this guitar forever. If I ever need to upgrade way later down the road, Just a pickup change.

  • idk if ur gonna pay money for an epiphone get an ultra Les paul or whatever its called the sound on that thing is incredible

  • im getting that same guitar

  • This guitar sucked... I ordered one about a month ago in heritage cherry and it was horrible. Some paint was cracked at the neck and the action was too low for me. I adjusted it and it buzzed like a bee... I sent the guitar back and got an ESP LTD for $55 more than this SG and it sounded3X better with 5X the quality for almost the same price... Epiphone sucks if this is their best guitar for $400 IMO.

  • well, IMO generally epiphones are pretty decent. just that the quality of the china made ones are irregular, so if you're unlucky, u might get a lemon.

  • and where the pickups are screwed in or whatever the front pickup's screws are on the bottom side instead of the top side

  • hey i have a similar guitar but mine is the cherry version, the only difference is instead of sg on the truss rod cover thing mine says gibson. do you know whatsup with that?

  • those are really good and rare. is it gibson?

  • Hi usefulcoin!

are they the regular Epi SG Standard pups?

mine sound good..but lack higher treble definition.

maybe I'll have a go at moving them around (pole pieces adjustment screws) see what i cmon up with :)

been thinking, in the back of my mind, that i would get MOP on the frets, maybe in the next couple of years :)

    ~Dava

  • that guitar sounds good

    in metal and punk?

    haha XD please answer me!!

  • um yeah......

    hahahahahahahahah XD

    seriously what gives??

  • been looking around...the pearliod looks lot deeper than than on my Epi SG, its pretty nice :)

...lol still would have MOP :S

  • I think thats pearloid on the frets not MOP. if epi want to do 'custom shop' they could add special options..like, seymour duncans or Gibbo pups, optional all MOP, no pearloid at all. optional binding and switchcraft pots and 500 to 1000k pots. I love the idea of and Epi custom shop, but limited edition aren't IMHO the same, yeah cool guitar but...(dude I am not knocking your cool guitar, just that Epi should get with the spirit of the word 'custom')

    peace

  • i agree

  • i was thinking about mabe getting this guitar but i need a few questions answered, is this a begginer guitar (i dont want that) and is it easy to play because i play a lot of thrash metal and that helps

  • no not a begginners guitar, great guitar i have the les paul model, but my friend has thia and the tone is very good

  • This is THE BEST guitar ever made by epiphone and to this day i still think it was supposed to be a higher end model but the marketing got screwed up. This sounds better than my Gibson SG Standard!

  • i need answer..does gibson give you buzz sound...

  • WTF? no low action does

  • u sound like the kid from holes ( main character...) SHEA LEBEAUF er something like that ;D

  • I get that alot on you tube but my friends never metioned that ever....kinda wierd though

  • thanks for the info but I got so dizzy from the way you filmed it.

  • ha lol!

  • do you think this guitar can play linkin park and tokio hotel songs cause i was thinking about getting it. also do you think this guitar can play rock and pop?

  • Your question doesn't fully make sense.....

  • does anyone know what the Epiphone Prophecy's are made? China also?

  • yup

  • I'm getting that guitar in two months. ^_^

  • One word...NICE!

  • nice. i just received this guitar from guitarcenter a couple weeks ago. it IS a really nice guitar

  • the reason y it stays in tune so well is because of the grover tuners on it

  • Would you recommend this for a first electric guitar, or would it just be better to get a fender?
