I ain't got a clue. Maybe because there's some of haoles running around that cant tell the difference. Some of us love the islands, probably more than many natives do. But, our exposure was from the past. I graduated from UOG in 1974 and almost nobody spoke Chamorro back then. Johhny Sablan was one of my very best friends. He taught me how to make tuba, cathc coconut crabs and get by the smell of fruit bats. Johhny RIP. Ed
@KaNaKa5wuno Other islanders besides Hawaiians and Samoans participate in hula and fire-dancing. Not just Samoans and Hawaiians. And all the Samoans and Hawaiians that I know are cool with us participating. In fact, they'd love for others to come in and do it.Another cool thing, the polynesians that I know say Chamorro boys are pretty good at performing the Haka. They also say that Chamorro women are pretty good at hula. I'm sorry you don't feel the same way, though.
Guam is like... More in the westernish part of the Pacific. It's closer to Saipan. Guam is in what we call "Micronesia" it's more west of Hawaii, which is in what we call "Polynesia". Hawaii is more in the middle, Guam is kinda near like Japan to the west of Hawaii =D
@afsocpuma well first of all... im not an adult yett... so OF CORSE II DONT SPELL RIGHTT! nd aqain.... thisx isx a computer... maybe iif ii wasx in skool i'd be spellin rite... nd usein tha riite qrammar.... but iim not iin skkooll riite noww... thisx isx kalled TEXT lanuaqe...learn it.
I'm not in college right now either. Yet I try to use correct grammar and spelling in all aspects of life, because when you don't you look ignorant and foolish. People won't take you very seriously. A good rule of thumb is, although I speak a weird mix of Chamorru and English in real life. On the computer, use standard, correct English. That way everyone, especially people who English is not their first language, can usnderstand and communicate effectivly to everyone. AND you don't look stupid
Chamorros and Refaluwasch, CNMI or Guahan...This is urgent! You need to watch "CNMI Descent for Self-Government & Indigenous Rights". I uploaded the videos. Spread to friends and families!

hey. um My last name is Chamorro.. and im black and latino O__o Lol where i get Chamorro from??
AddEmotion 2 years ago
Well, Chamorro is a well known name in the Latin community. Don't think it has any relation to Chamorro of the Marianas Islands.
