  • 1 person has never had a granny.

  • this song is a masterpiece.

  • Comment removed

  • one of the only dave songs where i like the ending the best

  • "ennyouughoorrnooowwweeennnyreeeeeeeaaa" Dave

  • I hope I get to do this is my future.

  • Carter's look at the end is priceless, he knows they just nailed it. By far the best version of Granny, Gorge 2004 is solid but the ending part from this version is a lot longer, makes the song more complete. Such a simple song but so powerful, gotta love Dave's creativity

  • 2012 can't come fast enough :(

  • @sheldini2002 amen, at least we should get a new album

  • without a doubt - the definitive Granny

  • fuck those retarded fucking gangster rappers theyr all fucking idiots that barely speak english and call themselves little or "lil"

  • Dave Matthews is a genius songwriter. The haters need to not judge the band by the stereotypical drunk, pot-smoking frat boy fans and listen to one song from the band besides Crash.

  • @hansen6102 lol fursuree

  • "my mind is blown"... yeah that's about right lol

  • I love DMB, I think his best stuff is live though. Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds Live at Radio City is by far my favorite album. I am not big on his studio stuff. But this song is decent, still seems overproduced though, there's just too much going on, it loses its simplicity.

  • @Mystro1UP man, live at radio city is legendary.. i love this live album sooo much..

  • @Mystro1UP really, this song is maby there simpilest its mostly dave and the rest are kinda not feautured as much

  • the most exciting song from this show

  • LOVE!

  • Dave is absolutely mind blowing

  • daves guitar sounds especially amazing in this show

  • @DMB41TwoStep it sounds amazing at every show

  • @dsiphor98 that is very true. i just like the extra sharpness of that night

  • @DMB41TwoStep I know what you mean. Some Live Trax, his guitar will sound so crisp its unreal.

  • This song makes me feel like I can fly. Like I can change the world. Every time it comes on I have to sing it out loud. It doesn't matter where I am- I just have to!

  • Epic performance! Everyone does their part and they do it so well!

  • Dave had the title of a song (Granny) floating in his mind before it was written. This song is what came out, and he never bothered renaming it to something more appropriate.

  • @harrisc42 actually he named it granny...since its a love song...and he has said in davespeak he named it granny cause when you think of a grandmother you think of love and softness :)

  • Love this song but why is it called granny?

  • Sweet Granny :)

    "This is MUSIC!"

  • ebonics.

  • and the Roots are opening up for DMB this April in Rutherford, NJ! One of the reasons why I am going. Love em both

  • Love this song and this perfomance is AMAZING as usual. One question though: Why is this song called "Granny"

  • I believe it was just a joke, in lack of names. Nothing more...

  • Haha, oh well that's cool! Thanks!

  • Imagine the creativity in naming The song that Jane likes, #34,#36,#40,and #41? Still it's brilliant:-)

  • Haha, well yeah. Some of the most creative names with the most uncreative titles. "Dave Matthews Band" may be the most creative part of all.

  • Orh man, how didn't I see that one? Still how unfit would it be if they we're called anything else?

P.Diddy, Puff Daddy - nobody cares. Dave Matthews Band? No other alternative.

  • Oh yeah, It fits perfectly.

  • 36 is aka honey, honey

    40 is aka always

41 is aka the police although i think that without a title is puts an air of mystery on the songs that can't be conveyed with a title

  • i just busted

  • All I gotta say about rap not being real music is look at The Roots. can't say shit now.

  • ya ne diyebilrm ki siz harikasınızzzz

  • after becoming a fan a few years ago it really makes me appreciate real bands, real instruments, and real music that much more

  • My mind is blown. Haha I love Dave.

And I totally agree with lightningonoceans. This is music.

  • LOVE...I won't tire, I won't tire, I won't tire, I won't tire...

  • This is music.

The people listening are having so much fun and look at Dave.. he loves it.. he is so talented.

Look!! Real instruments!! Guitars, violins.. real voices!! Real singing!! and it's not about crime, violence, f*cking woman over and buying gold chains!! YAY!!

  • thank you for explaining what music is, I just wish other people would agree with people like us... but no, so many people think Rap is music... imo rap doesn't belong under the category as music; although it can be labeled as rap it shouldn't be able to be considered music but a far off defection of what music use to be and is.

    gotta love DMB <3

  • Music is created and made from stuff of the soul. Rap is manufactured with mechanical assistance from machines and greedy dollar-sign-eyed criminal want-to-be's.

You are right, not all of us can appreciate the beauty that this stuff can offer.

You do have to love DMB.

    Keep it alive my brother.

  • thats not entirely true. theres a lot of reallllyyy talented hip-hop artists that use real instruments. one of my favorite rap duo's atmosphere tour with an entire live band. bass, guitar, piano and drums.

i love good music though too and i totally know what your trying to say. PHISH MARCH 6TH 2009!! ILL BE THERE!! :)

  • I hear ya. I did make a pretty general statement when I said that. I've actually been listening to a rapper I like named aesop rock. Niiicccee concert man... I never did get into Phish.. gimme 10 songs to download that most people like :P If yur in the mood :P

  • are you kidding me? rap is DEFINITELY music. it's all there to make you FEEL. Whether your using an instrument to write and improvise, or improvising verse after verse of fantastic lyrics, or making a beat on a computer cause you can't find the people with talent and drive and money for gear, as long as you express yourself your soul and talent is in there. Frank Zappa (look him up) abandoned instruments in his late life for computers. He was music, too, you'll probably agree.

  • right on brother, zappa was a musical genious. ive seen zappa plays zappa a few times over the past year or so, i highly reccomend it if you havnt seen them already.

  • what a great concert...

  • how could people be that talented, they are so passionate and happy with what they are doing. His voice is spectacular they're playing is immaculate!

    They are truly amazing!

  • Great song, glad to have heard it live with Kathleen :)

  • i was also there and nothing before or since compares to lovely fall night listening to Dave on the great lawn.

  • I wonder how many dreams came true that night with those signature opening chords....wow...unbelievable...I can die a happy woman the day I hear Granny live...

  • Im 19 and Dave was my first concert 2 years ago. i never really listend to his music, but wen he played granny for the opening song of his concert in STL i fell in love with it

  • Great song!!

Ever see a drummer blow a bubble during a concert (2:07)

  • Lol carter is always chewing gum

  • yea, is there any more of this around?

  • listener supported album, and live at the gorge...its on a couple of the live trax series albums, but im not sure what ones...

this is a rare one live, anyone who was there for this is lucky

  • September 24 of 03
