Just finished watching the first series, but I'm not going to watch this one though. Lawsuits aside, the character designs really show a difference between how characters were drawn in the ninties compared to the last 10 years. The character designs here are just laughable.

Besides, I watched the first series because it was so easy to make fun of. XD

The opening for this reminds me of the early nineties openings for animated series of Marvel's comics, like X-Men. For some reason, I also sensed a little TMNT in there. o_o

Okay a little help here please? I need to know what happened at the end. Did Aya really kick the bucket? And I'm sorry but the original Weiss was ten times better than Gluhen. The OVA's weren't bad either.

It's a little open ended, but the series continues on in manga form with Weiss Side B. In that, no, Aya does not die. He's rescued and eventually teams up with Kryptonbrand, with whom Ken is also a member. Though originally Koyasu (creator, Aya's seiyuu) DID plan to end the series with Gluhen and Aya's death, he wanted it serialized in manga form but thought the same story twice would be boring, thus Side B was born and Aya was brought back.

i kinda liked the original better too, cuz omi is my favorite character and he's totally lame in this one. in the show, i'm pretty sure he technically dies, but they kind of leave it to your imagination. i just had the assumption that he died.

my friend told me before i watched it that someone dies and i just had a gut feeling that it was going to be aya, which kind of ruined the moment for me, since i was right.

i also thought that the OVAs were depressing, until the end, of course. ;]

Aya doesn't die. There's a manga that takes place after Gluhen. It's called Weiss Side B and only Ken an Aya are in it.

Yep, it's still the original team, although I'm pretty sure new characteres are introduced! And they are all using the same weapons as before...

Yoji has shorter hair now and is the one wearing the cowboy hat!

Omi has shortish grey hair, still using the crossbow and darts..

Ken is the one with the viser that goes right across his eyes now instead of goggles and he's still using his claw

And as you said, you recognized Aya!

Gluhen supposedly takes place after aya exited the crashers as far as I know.

The other difference is that the character designs are completely different due to a lawsuit between the original character designer and the company that did weiss kreuz.

Apparently they used her character designs without permissions and she won so they had to change all the character designs.

"Knight Hunters" is the american name given to the series.

Weiss Kreuz is the original series, Gluhen is the second 'season', but with some major differences. I've been told it was because of copyright issues, so the characters have been tweaked.

The copyright issue is on the character designs. The original designer didn't return so they got some other designer to redraw the characters.

actually the creator got sued from the character designer because he used her design for the gluhen series and she wasn't present. so the creator had to get a new character designer and change the character design all together

There's four main characters. Omi became Persia and Manx died. Rex is now the secretary and Kyou and Sena are in, but there originally are the four main characters from the original one.

No one in Weiss died. *SPOILERS* Everyone lives at the end of the series, and in the OVA, Aya, Youji, and Omi 'supposedly' die; Aya and Youji by Ken's hands and Omi by Aya's. Of course, they're the bestest of buddies and we find out that they faked it all. -_- *END SPOILERS*

And Ken goes to jail BECAUSE he requested to be brought so. He actually reflects on everything he did. You know, the mass murdering and stuff--which I actually find nice. At least he's not heartless. He can be released whenever he wishes (according to the dialogue by the jail officials).

AAAAAND. They get to be together in the Weiss Side B manga (WOHOO).
