for the longest time I thought that only Pavarotti could do this justice. But after hearing Bocelli perform, WOW!!! I'm a fan of both singers...I like Pavarotti's raw power, but I also like Bocelli's brightness. Try as they might, Carreras and Domingo couldn't match "The Mighty Pavarotti."
Wow.. I had no idea who Bocelli or Pavarotti was until tonight. I had only heard the names casually...... Just wow. THIS is music.. Actually this should not even be called music. This is from a completely different world and should no where near be in the same category as the music of today. The fact that this heavenliness and today's garbage are both considered 'music' just blows me away. Cheers.
I just realized who must be paul potts favorite singer, he has adapted the weakness and strange vibrato of his idol Bocelli. As soon as he pushes his voice he sounds like he is taking a crap. Boring singer this guy is. Don´t flame me i came hear after watching a real opera singer named mario del monaco and i only use my right to comment on anything :)
I am not a big fan of A. Bocelli. He has a very small voice, and for a piece as Nessun Dorma, he lacks the power needed. He seems to struggle with it. A somewhat pinched tone
Pavarotti or Bocelli? Is difficult to say.....The greatest in "Nessun dorma" is certainly Franco Corelli, to me. Pavarotti e Bocelli are perhaps at the same level, or so.........
2 legends in Opera, Bocelli and Pavarotti. Pavarotti sings with great wind, almost brutish yet powerful. Bocelli sings with sincere passion, as if he is serenading a long lost lover.
My beautiful Grandfather loved this song! I love him sooooo much! I am crying for you Grandpa!!! I love you and Grandma sooooo much! Grandma and Grandpa I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!
if you listen to baby pavarotti his vocals changed buddy their voice ages like fine wine ,pavarotti himself took bocelli under his wing ,saying wait and listen he will be great ,and bocelli given time will be the greatest
Hello. My name is SOPA. I'm going to have to ask you to go ahead and delete this video. If it's not lining the pockets of corporates, we can't allow it.
Remember. Music didn't exist until there were record companies. Music isn't universal or a gift from the cosmos.
Leave this to real Tenors. Keep on singing TV commercials' soundtracks and stop humiliating opera, please. Each one of us has his/her own areas of specialization, your voice is not good enough for this. IMHO of course.
If we can hear God singing ,this is how it would sound . Andrea Boccelli e Dio. The best. if many people in the world hear this kind of music I'm very sure that there would be no War only Love.
Italy, you excel at this. The rest of the world should pitch in and turn Italy into the cultural center of the world that it is. Restore the ancient works of art that are your classic architecture. Forget the economy. Italy must be preserved for all humanity. I say this based on what I just heard.
@TheSidRay Musik that is about 80 Years old. But wherefrom comes the new music? it's not Italy, not the USA and not Germany. it is all over the World. If we had a cultural center, we wouldn't hear new music, we would hear italian music.
@jujeification considering the likes of Brittany Spears and Lady Gaga, we could do much worse that classic Italian. New music? Haven't heard anything good in at least a decade.
@TheSidRay Couldn't put it better myself i LOVE my heritage and everything it stands for. If people would just open there eye's to see just how fantastic life can be with phenomenal music such as this then we would all push and strive to make this world a better place. Every Italian puts every last bit of passion heart and soul into everything we do from Music, Art, Family, Friends, Food etc. I'm Italian and Proud of it.
The difference that i see is that Pavarotti has just slightly more power in his voice, most likely due to his size...but i enjoy the chorus version when it comes into play...somehow that makes a difference to me...BTW, i previously heard Mario Lanza's version in the movie "Serenade' which is played here in youtube...but with him he shows hammy expressions, possibly due to the movie script, which for me takes it away from his version.
@newbei17 Bjorling is astounding too. Maybe it's just because I have a preference for the modern school style of second formant dominance but I do enjoy Pavarotti's rendition of Nessun Dorma perhaps a little more than Bjorling.
However, Bjorling's rendition, especially the long/slow version is absolutely fantastic and a beautiful display of great singing.

I wish opra music can come back into popular trend again. This kind of stuff can make me cry because it's so beautiful.... none of the music today is able to bring such emotion<3 I love this<3 :)
@curvyfemale Opera shouldn't come back into popular trend again, we should appreciate these masterpieces to the fullest, if it were to come back, the Americans would probably push trough with new 'stars' autotune the crap out of them and sponsor them until Opera is a commercialised shadow of what it was.
@Niberugi You know not all of america is like that? That's just the shit you see on tv. A huge percentage of the population hates all that stuff with a passion.
@manwithplan61 Ofcourse, rereading it I realise it sounded rather stupid. But my point wasn't that the Americans turn good music into shit, I just think this shouldn't be commercialised. Sorry I offended you and I'm glad not all Americans are what you see on TV.

Bocelli brought me to opera, and for that, I will be forever in his debt. This is a heartrending version. Whether opera afficionados recognize it or not, he has kept opera alive and has made a contribution equal to or greater than anyone. For that, we are all in his debt. Just love this version...full of heart, color, musicality. Bravo, Andrea.
It is a song that transcends .... Andrea Bocelli .... che meravigliosa voce!!! I could listen to this all night!!! Magnificent, hauntingly beautiful voice and music ...
Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma!

I agree that Pavarotti absolutely owns this song, but I love me some Andre Bocelli and there's room at the top for both of them.

Andrea may not be an opera singer, but the man can absolutely sing opera (and everything else)! Best voice in the history of the planet.........

PERO POR QUÉ LA TIENEN TOMADA CON PUCCINI Y SU MARAVILLOSA NESSUN DORMA, PERO ES QUE EL SR, BOCELLI , Y SUS SEGUIDORES NO SE HAN DADO CUENTA QUE NO ES UN CANTANTE DE ÓPERA, A TODO LO MÁS VALE PARA CANCIÓNES ROMÁNTICAS Ó NAPOLITANAS AHORA , VISTO L,O QUE HAY EN EL PANORAMA LÍRICO DE HOY EN DIA, EN EL QUE EL sr. jose cura está cantando.... pues casi prefiero escuchar a BOCELLI, SU VOZ ES MÁS AGRADABLE..

Pavarotti will always own this song. Bocelli's lungs are no match at the end.

@mylesc99 may be so, but you can't deny Bocelli's amazing voice can you?

I absolutely love listening to him. He can hold a note like nobody's business.

@1906sfjd The biggest contribution was made by Luciano Pavarotti. But right next to him would be Bocelli.
