That's just not comparable. You are only as addicted to the game as you allow yourself to be. It's actually more comparable to cigarettes, because that physical addiction wears off relatively quickly, and then only the mental addiction remains. When you play video games, you only have that mental addiction. The addiction lies within the mind, not the game.
And, as they said, they've picked an extreme case, a case that has an actual problem. I have nothing to hide, I play a lot of video games, probably at around 8 a day, if I have nothing to do that day. This doesn't mean that I neglect my other needs, or the people around me. It means that I play around 8 hours a day if I have nothing to do.
I love how specialists say gaming is like a drug and we need to take REAL drugs to stop playing games. Comforting knowing that if people need help with internet addiction they need to take drugs to stop this so called drug

50 hours a week is nothing....i have tons of friends who play atleast 60+ hours a week..i myself play atleast 50 hours and think god i wish i would have played more but over the summer last year i had at tops 106 hours played in a single week.... =)
