But in hindsight the first winner of the UFC was a BJJ master that wasn't anything near the bloody, gorey type fight I'm wishing for. He won with all submissions, that's not really a fight tactic in my opinion, thats something you do when you know you're gonna lose, and toe to toe is everyone comes to see, the brutal knockout, not two guys rolling around for 15mins.

The issue that most people have with submission based specialists is that either a) They've seen too many fights where one person just tries to lay on top of them, not going for submissions, but not putting enough power in to ground and pound or b) They're too stupid to understand the strategy involved in whats going on. That's the problem with all these new young fighters.

They come in having trained at an "MMA" gym, or Dojo.

Places that make you think knowing how to throw a knee means you know Muay Thai, or knowing how to do an arm bar means you know Jujitsu.

Right now it's not so bad, but more and more of these places are gonna pop up, and it's gonna turn into the local 'Karate' Dojo with a "master" who learned everything from a book.
